View Full Version : Calling the group order queens!

A really nice friend of mine got his hands on some leftovers from a little clothes and accessories shop that went out of business. Lots and lots of hair accessories!

What I have now is:
:Star: 60 Thick blue elastics, they are these “woven” damage free elastics (no metal clamps) very strong elastic!
:Star: 79 Of the same kind as above just in black
:Star: 132 Sets of two red/pink elastics on a cardboard holder. These are thinner and have weaker elastics than the first ones
:Star: 34 Black elastics of the same type as the red/pink ones, just without the cardboard holder
:Star: 83 of these plastic “hair bands” that makes a pattern in your hair when you put them on. Im not sure what they’re called

My idea is to send them to the next person to do a group order and have her send sets out to people along with the product people bought
It might be a really stupid idea, but I’m thinking that you can never have too many hair accessories! And that if one of these elastics matches someone’s sweater and if just one person will be happy its better than throwing them away. I really hope there’s no way people will be unhappy about getting free accessories with their group order! At least it will be free elastics people can use for holding hair while it’s being conditioned or something- its good to have elastics you can get dirty
There’s no way I can use that many elastics! They have been laying in my bathroom cupboard for a few weeks now and I was about to throw them away when I thought I would rather send them to my LHC friends :heartbeat

I’ve already taken those I will get use of and given a lot away to friends, and I think I will like to keep just a few so I have something to send out if anyone should be interested in another Silica/brewers yeast/seaweed flour swap so I a little extra to send with it.

So if there’s anyone who will make a group order and are interested in taking the time to sort the accessories out and send them out to people, I will gladly send you them!

I was thinking about making 30 “sets” of:
Two blue elastics
Two black elastics
Four sets of two red/pink elastics
One thin, black elastic
Two plastic head bands

That will leave me with:
19 thick black elastics
12 red/pink elastics
4 thin, black elastics
23 plastic head bands
Which is more than enough for me

Igor,
That's really generous of you to offer to do that. Are the headbands you're talking about the kind with teeth that leave "tracks" in your hair in front of the headband as you put it on? If so, those are MAGNIFICENT with a snood (they hold them in place so they don't slip back at ALL) I have several and LOVE them!

Definitely save some for your future trades; you got high marks for past-trades, and I remember people mentioning you "sending extra goodies" with their swap-items......I am sure you'll be trading again before long!

Great idea! Save some for me when I need some more silica
I'd just found some ouchless elastics a while ago that I was going to buy a ton of (haven't had time to pop in the store yet) and send to you as well - remember that couple of euros I still owe you  Now I'll have to find something else to trade :dizzy:

That's a great idea  I am already thinking of goodies for the next group order :misskim: I can't help myself
Now if only the Readers Digest would come good on that money they keep promising me :rollin:

LisaJaney, yup- that kind! What are those called by the way?
Oh, the snood idea sounds great!!! I have to try that!

Aw, Queenie… You don’t have to worry about that :bluesmile
Besides, I can’t imagine they would be the exact same kind or colour! Just today I took in all my damage free elastics to see how many matches with my clothes and found a lot of new opportunities. You really can’t have too many hair accessories!
(By they way, how are you doing with that silica? Any progress?)

Nastasska- just let me know!

I’ve already taken more than I can use and put a LOT away for future trading. I’ve been using the strong, thick ones to hold my hair back in the shower for a while (when I’m too lazy to find the cap) but I still have a TON of extra elastics! Just let me know- I have a really big cardboard box full of that stuff

Yeah, I have NO idea what they're called. That's why I called them "the headbands with teeth that leave tracks in your hair...." HA! I will pay attention the next time I am in the hair-toy aisle and see if they have a name for them on any of their packaging. (I plan to make a WalMart run tonight; maybe I can sneak over in the general-direction of the hair-toy aisle and sucker Dave into it.....) I'll let you know what I find out. They've got to have a REAL name, you'd think! I'll get back to you on that one.......

(I love that the little red-faced smiley-man is called "gabigrin".)

Hey, it sounds WAY more intelligent than “plastic thingy- headbands or something”
Please let me know! I feel so stupid if I can’t find the right word in the dictionary. I don’t even known what they’re called in Danish (Or German- gotta love dictionaries! :gabigrin:And this little guy )

I love it! My hair seems thicker, at least, my virgin hair does, so it's either the silica or just the fact that it's stronger, but anyway it's very good. And I have a lot more growth. I've been testing it, stopped taking them for a while to see how it turned out. It got me 1" per month when I was taking them, and my usual 1/2" when I wasn't. Pretty obvious to me, don't you think  And at least I didn't get hairy all over

So, if you still want to trade with me, I would love to order some more soon! Do you like Ketylo hairsticks? I'm strongly thinking about ordering some, if you like them, let me know.

Wow! That’s a lot of difference!
I really wish I could remember to measure mine once a month
Oh, I upped my intake to four a day to combat slow winter growth but it made my nails grow way too fast. I have to keep them pretty short so I won’t poke myself in the yes when I put on lenses, but I didn’t know it could make such a difference!
Glad you didn’t turn into a gorilla :bluebiggr
I don’t know those sticks- do you have a link for them? The accessories-crawing has set in

That little guy is the gabigrin guy, and he IS adorable, isn't he!

OK, went to WalMart last night, suckered my husband into going into the hairtoy aisle (he saw through my scheme, but went anyway; what a wonderful fella he is!) and they had two different kinds of those headbands with the teeth, but they ONLY said "headband" on them, JUST LIKE THE PLAIN ONES, and even the CLOTH ones had "headband" on them! Lazy people! They should have given them a NAME!!!!

So, I struck out. Sorry 'bout that! But I tried!

My nails were growing like crazy as well, and in the no-silica-period they broke and chipped off, even more like before.

Well, count me in for however this shakes out - I'd be willing to pay for postage just to have a set. I'm ALWAYS in the market for thick hair elastics, and I wear headbands, just it's a hairtoy I can manage! LOL

Queenie!!! Those are SO gorgeous!!!! Count me in!!! :inlove:
So simple and so pretty at the same time! I love them already! Especially the kingwood and bocote ones!
I just wish my hair was longer so I could try some of the customer up dos :boohoo:
And I just love the customer up do- site! That’s true inspiration!

Grenwich- I can just send you a set or two or how many you want… I doubt the next group order will be for 30 people anyways, so there will be a LOT left
But I guess there’s a limit for how many of the same five things a person can use

I have uploaded a picture of them:
http://www.22757575.dk/ida/photo/images/Elastics.jpg
I put a standard match stick next to them to compare. I think it’s pretty easy to see which black ones are the strong, thick ones
Oh- and the “pink” ones look better in real life

I don't believe they are charging any shipping at this time. I just placed an order and did not have to pay any shipping. Their sticks are very reasonably priced, in my opinion, and an excellent value. I wear mine most every day.

 I never noticed the poking, I'm sorry
Bikerbraid is right about the shipping - no extra charges if you live in the US. I emailed Kathleen about shipping charges to Belgium, and she gave some very reasonable prices. If there are enough people interested I want to do a group order for European members, but I'll have to check with shipping to the several European countries though. I know it won't be that much, but I don't know if we'll save a lot of euros this way.
Let me know if you're interested and I'll check it out

You can stop poking now http://smile.smilies.nl/448.gif :bluebiggr
