View Full Version : online poetry reading please! terri March 4th, 2004, 04:53 AM Would those of you who write poetry consider posting a poem or two here so we can share? euphrasyne March 5th, 2004, 05:19 AM k. I'm a really bad poet, but I enjoy it. ;) Alone This one was actually published in 99: Alone in the silence, a single sound creeps in. A sense of loss overwhelms all thought; And my soul shivers at the thought, That alone in the night, No one would notice me quietly passing by. cw I'm thinking about submiting this one, what do ya'll think? Suicide of the Soul Yes, I understand your dictate. And, yes, I will comply: Eradicating myself ; so you will be more comfortable. I will cease to peruse my hopes and dreams, And drown in a drone-filled sea of monotonous toil. All so your blank gaze will not falter as you look past me. I will not question, create, or deviate from your line. I will tread that straight, unending path to nowhere, Another automaton dying a little more each day; A puppet strung endlessly down nightmare's conduit. cw More bad poetry by me can be found here: http://home.earthlink.net/~euphrasyne/id7.html cheryl Heidi March 5th, 2004, 06:49 AM I think you are good at this, Cheryl. I enjoyed them! Do submit! If you have the inclination to write poetry and share what you've written, then submit submit submit! I'd like to see poetry become mainstream again. My poems are silly little Dorothy Parker type poems or limericks that amuse me and my friends. But I enjoy the talent of other poets. Terri? Are you a poet as well? terri March 5th, 2004, 12:07 PM Heidi, I was once a "hormonal poet." During one of my pregnancies, I would wake up with poems floating through my head. I started writing them down, and I have them-somewhere. The poetry left and never came back when that particular set of hormones went away. Go figure. I will try to find the cute little cat hair one I wrote. Cheryl you are good. And, yes you should submit the second poem. I also rather enjoyed resignation. Cubeville. heheheh. My 11 year old's class recently had a poetry reading which I really enjoyed. So hence the idea of an online post. Terri Teacherbear March 6th, 2004, 08:27 AM Oh Cheryl! I really liked Suicide of the Soul I felt kind of like that with my ex husband. It was the realization that I felt that way that made me decide a divorce was a good thing. Sad, but good. Yes, submit your poems!! Sylph June 17th, 2004, 12:34 PM Two ones that are sort of works in progress The Train I took a ride today Through familiar country Made anew Softly blurred by speed The rising sun streaking A gentle line of gold upon The rosy sky The maligned leaves a golden halo Resting upon the steel angels wings I looked into the lives of others Outside the terraced houses Where children would play Amidst the thunder of the passing trains The people rising from down wrapped slumber A small dog wrestling with a stick The pastures and bare fields And those upon the train Papers clutched in sleepy hands Those who would rather stare oblivious Then catch the spark of another gaze And yet still though whose heavy lids Drawn down as a veil as they Submit to half slumber And perhaps to dream of some pleasant land Of frosty pastures tinged with gold. And an untitled one. I know you are bad for me An addiction Dark and powerful Hypnotic You encircle me So easily I give in to you, to me It's all the same I feel the soft pressure on my lips For only a second Then a softer, warm caress It slides though me My body twists under it A brief dance of the senses Like a Roman Candle I return to this plane Bringing back but a faint tingle A feeling that lingers A pleasurable reminiscence Masked by the bitterness I am more your prisoner Then I ever was before The brief taste of you enslaves me My hungers leans to to it You leave behind your trace My smile, tinged with guilty flecks My hips, my stomach, my chest Are guided by your command You are my dark lover My master, My love As I bend to you once more Your name falls from my lips Chocolate terri June 20th, 2004, 11:06 AM very nice! My daughter wrote a sonnet about chocolate. Great topic! :inlove: Mariah June 20th, 2004, 02:19 PM I have a couple I will share (please note [as this is a public forum] these works are copyrighted and may not be reprinted in any form without the express written permission of the author.
