View Full Version : Anybody using Garnier Fructis?
Ghaziya March 11th, 2003, 05:13 AM I just purchased the Garnier Fructis conditioner for fine hair a couple of days ago. I have used it twice and I am still on the fence about it. It's very slippery and detangles my hair extremely well, but I'm not crazy about how my hair feels once its dry.
Anyone else using it? Maybe one of the other formulas? Please let me know what you think of it! TIA!
DweamGoiL March 11th, 2003, 05:19 AM and was curious due to the advertisement...girl has gorgeous long hair. I read the ingredients...not too bad. However, I remembered my promise to myself...no more switching products for a while.
I'd be interested to hear others opinions, too.
KT March 11th, 2003, 05:53 AM I used to use it many years ago - the fine hair formula. I loved it! It made my hair really soft and with great slip. I also used the intensive deep conditioner, which was OK, but nothing special.
My boyfriend currently uses the anti-dandruff shampoo, and whilst I'm not sure it's working too well on the flakes, it leaves his hair soft and with a great smell.
Mariah March 11th, 2003, 07:51 AM I used that product line when I lived in Italy, and while it smelled fruity, it didn't do anything remarkable for my hair, although compared to most of the other product lines they had over there, it was the best one. Granted that was a couple of years ago, and they may have reformulated the product since then, but I was never terribly impressed by it...
LongRed March 13th, 2003, 03:24 PM I tried this product too because
I love the clean smell of
citrusy things....
however, it really didn't
do anything spectacular for
my hair.....(maybe I didn't use
it enough to tell though)

I noticed the commercial the other night and was thinking of trying it. Her hair looks great, doesn't it?? Then again, the women in the Pantene commercials look wonderful and Pantene does absolutely nothing for my hair. :(
euphrasyne March 17th, 2003, 11:38 AM You know, I wonder if it is a requirement that the product modles use the product? I really don't think that it is.

You're probably right. They probably don't use the products they're endorsing... but I sure wish I knew what they ARE using! I know they're using some awesome lighting.. *thinking* And probably lots of shine serum. I don't think you would want to light a match anywhere near 'em. :D
euphrasyne March 17th, 2003, 12:00 PM Or a really good digital artist for touch ups :) I was reading an article the other day, sorry I couldn't find it again!) about Cindy Crawford (I think) on the cover of one of the leading magazines. The caption was something like "Cindy Crawford looks best in nothing" (refering to her makeup.) The bill for the digital touch up (erasing lines, moving stray hairs, brightening eyes, shining lips, etc. was around $1500.)

Jae6 March 28th, 2003, 09:45 PM bought this as a lemming purchase (don'tcha just hate when that happens?), and alone i think this stuff sucks...in conjunction with kenra moisturizing conditioner...WOW! it might be kind of heavy for those who dont' have colored coarse hair, but it sure helps my hair out a lot since i can't use oils until my colored ends are long enough to be chopped off. (i.e. next year...(SIGH))
i also like how the garnier is helping me to slow down my kenra usage 'cuz kenra isn't exactly cheap :(
DweamGoiL March 31st, 2003, 11:55 AM not sure if it's the Garnier or the Aussie 2 min. Miracle, but one of them makes my hair appear very fine and fly-away.
More to come...
rainee April 2nd, 2003, 11:01 AM I love it. I use the 2-in-1 and it leaves my hair perfectly detangled and shiny. And it smells so nice. (I used to love the way Pantene made my hair look, but could never stand the perfumy scent). Fructis has a nice citrusy-melony refreshing scent.
I tried the fine-hair conditioner though, and don't like it at all. But the 2-in-1 is great (at least for my hair).
Ghaziya April 7th, 2003, 07:35 AM Thanks for all the feedback folks! I think this is one for the product graveyard. Even though it does not have cones, I get a filmy feeling on my hair. Not really digging this stuff. :(
Sasha July 12th, 2003, 06:50 AM Hmmmmm. I know this is an old post...my husband started using Garnier Fructis a couple weeks ago and it leaves his hair GORGEOUS!! Shiny, bouncy, and full of life. Needless to say, it leaves me JEALOUS because no product can make *my* hair look like that.
bellawave July 15th, 2003, 09:05 AM I just tried this line last night, the shampoo and
conditioner for normal hair. I liked it! They
have a deep conditioner that I might check out.
The 'poo is very nice, gentle, SLES-based, non-stripping
and smelled like melons. I really liked it.
The conditioner is a light 'cone conditioner. I'm not
normally a cone user but this isn't bad; it didn't give
my hair the plastic feel like heavier 'cone products
like Pantene do. It made my hair very soft, smooth and
silky. Which is nice right now since it had been feeling
very rough (my cuticle probably resembles barbed wire
under a microscope lol).
No scalp reactions, which would usually happen by
now if I'm sensitive to something. So I'd say
these are nice products at the moment. ;)
DweamGoiL July 15th, 2003, 09:10 AM and hated how it left my hair. Granted...I didn't buy the conditioner, but I wasn't looking for a new cond., but a new shampoo. My hair was fly-away and that shampoo was really thick and would NOT dilute in water (which is what I do with all my shampoo).
My hair looked dull and dry...whatever is in there, does NOT work for me.

Wow... What conditioner were you using with it, or
did you not use conditioner? I should try just the
'poo and see how my hair acts since I don't want something
drying my hair out (that might be masked by a
conditioner).
I don't dilute my shampoo but I can see how that would
be difficult with this one; it's very creamy and has
the consistency of a thick conditioner actually; not
the clear liquidy stuff most shampoos are.
DweamGoiL July 15th, 2003, 09:37 AM on a daily basis, I use Joico K-Pak Daily Reconstructor Conditioner. And on a weekly or so basis, I rotate Mega Moisture, Nexxus Phyto Organics, among others (can't recall more right now).
I changed shampoos and my hair was ok so I definitely know it was the poo.
Tresses July 15th, 2003, 09:46 AM Liked the S&C at first, but as is usually the case for me with too many cones, within a few uses it was making my hair super slippery, coated in plastic, artificially soft. :( To the product graveyard it goes! (Where my family feasts on my cast-offs. ;-) )
I recently went back to my beloved Nexxus Ensure conditioner and was reminded of why I love it soooo much. It's a very good detangler that leaves my hair soft and shiny, without that artificial feeling. I'm also using my Kenra samples of moisturizing S&C and so far am very pleased with these, too. :D
bellawave July 22nd, 2003, 07:26 AM Well, after a few uses the shampoo did start making my
scalp and hair very dry, and the conditioner wasn't
making up for it in any way (I actually had static in
the middle of the summer for the first time I can
remember!). I gave the shampoo to my bf, but will
try adding some oil to the conditioner.
Oh well, it was cheap and worth a try to see if the
"fortifying" really worked.
Elspeth30 July 22nd, 2003, 08:54 AM Sorry to reply late. I had a bad reaction to the sample of this I tried. It left my hair dry and my scalp itchy. I'll admit that I was made curious by the ads...that one with the hair knot was interesting!
scarlett August 1st, 2003, 06:35 PM I know this is late but, the fructis shampoo worked OK, at least the detergent is sodium laureth (non lauryl) sulfate. I know very little about shampoo chemistry however . . .
about the itchy scalp or irritated. I used Aussie products for a long time and wound up allergic to one of the many "botanical additives." Nothing against their products, I could have wound up allergic to any company's shampoo. For awhile I was afriad I was allergic to the cleanser and tried a shampoo bar for awhile. (didn't work--disaster). Fortunately it was just one of the "extras"
ladybug August 16th, 2003, 06:42 PM ...I had a bad reaction to the sample of this I tried. It left my hair dry and my scalp itchy...
You too?! However, it took a couple of weeks for my scalp to get dry and itchy, and boy was it dry and itchy. My hair liked it so-so, I've definately tried better! To the product graveyard it goes!

Igor September 30th, 2003, 11:02 AM I used it many years ago. It stripped away the shine and made my hair turn grey!! I remember the deep conditioning masque as pretty good though…
magpiedee October 9th, 2003, 08:21 AM Yes, I had to give in and try it. This morning was the first time, and I have no idea what it'll do to my hair when it's out of the wet bun and hanging, but it just felt so... good... and slippery.... I missed that feeling. Probably all the nasty chemicals and plastics and cancery things, but this morning... it was like heaven for a minute.
I think it'll make a nice interim product, but not a forever favorite. I'll report more when I know more.
morguebabe October 13th, 2003, 04:26 PM I've been using it for like week snow and i LOVE it.
