View Full Version : Is this normal???
Sasha July 7th, 2003, 01:33 PM After staying the same weight for several days, I stepped on the scale today to find myself SEVEN pounds heavier than two days ago. :x :x :x I always weigh myself butt naked, first thing in the morning before eating anything, and my period isn't supposed to show up for at least a couple more weeks...and I put a 10-lb. dumbbell on the scale and it said that the dumbbell weighed 10 lbs...I did a bit more eating out over the weekend than normal, but I also marched in a 4th of July parade in the sweltering heat and played *lots* of DDR. This is insane--I mean, that's 24,500 excess calories that need to be accounted for! Does this ever happen to anyone else? :x :x :x :x :x :x :x
(edited to add angry faces)
Lexy July 7th, 2003, 01:37 PM Did you eat lots of salt this weekend? That'll do it to me. Back when I weighed myself often I didn't count it as a gain unless it'd been around for at least a week.
Hollie July 7th, 2003, 02:31 PM Sasha, most of it is more than likely just extra water, maybe coupled with the extra eating out. If you are careful this week, drink lots of water, etc....you should be back down. :)
Cowgal July 8th, 2003, 03:03 AM My weight fluctuates alot too. I just don't worry about it. Yep, salt can make you retain water- was the food you ate salty?
I hope you can meet your goals!
Really what I wanted to say is- WOW! You got a new avatar, didn't you? I love it. :D
Sasha July 8th, 2003, 04:32 AM WOO HOO!!! I weighed myself today, and I'm now EIGHT pounds lighter than yesterday...so I feel better. I'd freaked out because my weight does *not* tend to fluctuate more than 1-2 lbs. at a time.
Val, glad you like the new avatar...she's the old one's evil twin, but she has nicer hair!!
smiles July 8th, 2003, 07:55 AM yayyy! for sasha :D
if i see a big difference in weight, i try measuring alternate days at same time (preferably early early morning) for a week. and this measuring week is nowhere near pms time. if the increase is consistent, then i know i better do something :D

Well that's good to hear that your weight is back where you expect it to be.
I remember reading about your game you're making and the 2 girls. Very very interesting! Yes, she *does* have nice hair. and a slightly sour looking disposition! ;)

LaPisLaZuLi July 9th, 2003, 10:57 PM This is really weird, but...
I got really sick on Mother's Day this year and two days later got my gallbladder taken out. So from Sunday (when I was sick and couldn't hold anything down) to Tuesday night all I had eaten was a liquid diet at the hospital. Chicken broth and jello and tea...diabetic diet too, so my caloric intake was so small.
Wednesday morning I got up and weighed myself -- just like you, I weigh myself daily, in the morning, butt nekid. I was expecting to have lost weight. Instead, I was 10 pounds heavier! 10 pounds??? OMG!
Within a week, those 10 pounds were gone, plus 3 more. All I can figure is that when they did the surgery, it was laporoscopic, and they pumped my abdomen full of air. I looked like a beach ball when I came home, so that must have been 10 pounds of air that they pumped me up with.
It is really weird the things that affect our weight. I never would have thought air weighed that much! :D
