Variation One:
I love to make up clay wash mixed with molasses, because the molasses are a humectant. Since we were just using molasses to make cookies, I decided to play with some of the hair-friendly ingredients to make a holiday-scented hair wash.
I mixed about two tablespoons of clay and one teaspoon of ginger powder (good for circulation) with about three tablespoons of molasses. Then I added two drops of cinnamon oil (some say it helps detangling, but I was using it for scent) and three drops jojoba oil. Finally I mixed in water until I got the consisitency I liked. (Next time I will substitute a clove water infusion instead, but I did not think of it last night.)
To use:I applied this to dry hair (scalp first, then smoothing some down the length). I twisted up my hair and let this work for a while, then rinsed, rinsed, and rinsed again.
Variation Two:
For those who like egg deep conditioning treatments, I was thinking that you could do the above recipe, but use a couple of eggs instead of the clay, then shampoo out. I have not tried this myself.
