To all the members of the LongHair Community,

I just wanted to post a note to say thank you...I have participated in many forums, and usually end up leaving after a couple of months because I dislike all the catty, mean-spirited, know-it-all attitudes people often display in forums.

I have found this to be one of the most enjoyable forums I have ever participated in -- everyone here is so polite and caring, and even on "hot topic" issues (such as cones vs. no cones) no one is impolite, or makes anyone else feel as if their opinion is useless or irrelevant, or that someone else is stupid for having a different opinion. For the few months I have been on this forum, we have discussed war, love, pet peeves, and a myriad of hair related issues, and not once did I ever feel threatened or defensive or feel my blood pressure start to boil because people were being cruel in their posts.

I just wanted to say thank you!! You are a wonderful bunch of people, and I enjoy myself everytime I visit these boards!!

What a sweet post, Mariah! :heart: We've had a few ups and downs, but I agree that we are among the most supportive sites around -- a true community, despite living in myriad places throughout North America and around the world. We owe a lot to Steph (our fearless and rather pregnant leader) and our wonderful moderators, too, who have selflessly donated their time and energy to make this wonderful place a cozy home for all of us.

I agree! I've left a few bboards on the Net recently, simply because the general, rather grouchy tone made me feel incredibly uncomfortable.

It's amusing my boyfriend, because I keep gushing about how /nice/ everyone is on here!

It's like -- A Fellowship of the Long Hairs...and the Wanna-be Long Hairs! It's the most enjoyable part of my day to come here! :D

Very eloquently stated Mariah :) I'm an incurable lurker who usually doesn't post to the boards I read because I'm overly sensitive and for the exact same reasons you stated in your post (catty-ness, etc.). Everyone here should pat themselves on the back for helping to create what has to be one of the kindest forums on the internet :heart: Not to mention all of the knowledge shared here... it's priceless, really 8)

I totally agree! I can relax on this board more than on any other I visit.

Ditto for me too. I love spending time here with all my "hair buds". And ya know what I think is so cool? There isn't anyone I would be afraid to meet in real life.R I feel like we are all friends. Wouldn't it be great if we could all get together? Lunch at Red Lobster next Saturday? :D

Mariah you said it exactly and perfectly! This board is the only board I participate in because of that. In RL I have a few very carefully chosen friends for that same reason. But I truly enjoy EVERYONES company here!

I could've wrote your post myself, Queeny... :) These are exactly my reasons why I haven't been active on any boards, but you don't find that here.

I totally agree. Glicks happen but they are rare and usually resolved pretty quickly.

a nice thread. I feel kinda ooshy and sweet and sentimental now. I, too, have long felt that way about this group. And while we have had a coupla squabbles in the two years I've been learning to know (and love) the people here, we do kiss and make up and I am always amazed at the way we CAN talk about things that would bring FLAMES on other forums and we still remain friends. There are people on this forum that I have met personally, have talked to on the phone for hours (true, huh, Skeeter and Ammo and TBear, Tresses and Hols?) and they are as kind as can be. I've never felt that I wanted to MEET anyone from any other places on the net, til I came here. There have been several groups meet, and they are always good experiences. Quality people.

Which brings me to our fearless leader, Steph. (I loved how she was touted as being "rather pregnant". That's priceless! Steph, do you FEEL "rather pregnant"???? bwahahahahaha She probably feels about to POP~) Thank you, Steph, for ALL you do -- I am sure we don't even know HALF the stuff you do for us, and the things we DO know about BOGGLE the imagination -- and for providing a good place for such an addicted bunch of individuals to meet. I know *I* am hopelessly addicted, and suspect the same fate for many of the guys and gals here. How else could we have racked up 6,000 posts in just a few days' time?????

I think that one of these days, I'm gonna document exactly what I do in one day. LOL! 99.999% of my day is spent online, while 99.999% of THAT is spent with my face buried in this sites PHP code, mySQL databases, and participating on the board. And ya know what? It's the most relaxing thing I could imagine doing. :D I love it.

I agree with everything everyone says (how often can you say that LOL!) - this is such a friendly place to be, and whilst we do have our little spats, we always make up, and the things we can discuss without arguing is a tribute to the strength and maturity of this group (and I don't mean age, there are some very mature young people here, perfectly balanced out by Gabi of course ;) <ducking>).

I couldn't agree more! Most forums rarely last more than a few months with me, but I feel very comfortable here. :)

I too have often lost interest or been disgusted by some of the stuff that goes on in a typical community online, but this one has been a refreshing change. I chalk it up to the fact that all the wonderful people enjoy growing their hair long :D

As for my name, I should probably post this on the "what does your name mean" thread, but I can't take credit for coming up with it. It was so kindly bestowed upon me by my dear SO. Why, you'd think he'd appreciate my efforts to help him improve himself and keep track of all of those things he needs to do ;)
