View Full Version : Queen Latifah, you go!

Today on "The View", Queen Latifah
(true name Dana Elaine Owens) arrived
wearing her hair in a smoothed back side part bun.
I was clapping at the television for her!

Many would call this style a little too intense, but
this is how I wear my hair quite often, and I just love it!
Contrary to popular belief, this style need not be
skin tight, pulling your eyes into a horizontal slant.
In fact, it is a very comfortable style and one that
just screams "Polished" look.

(Insert importance of MONOI here!)

It also provides for earring opportunity and a little
accent on the eye makeup if one desires,
as well as a hoity toity hair toy moment!

I pay close attention to star styles, not that I give
a hoot what's in fashion, but I see buns coming out more
and more lately. Sure, it could be that "Chicago" came out,
causing fashion drones to come out of the woodwork, but
I'm delighted that for once, I am in 'style'. LOL

:)

What's a back side part bun? I only know of the plain buns (cinnamon bun-like things), and figure 8 buns. Always interested in learning how to do more, especially if they're "in style".

What's a back side part bun?

I think, by the phrase <i>'smoothed back side part bun</i>, KM means the hair was smoothed back ie. slick, sleek and smooth rather than with loose bits, softness, tendrils or whatever. The hair was smoothed back in this way from a side parting, and made into an ordinary bun at the back.

that is my typical daily style as well. I never get bored of it- it's too practical and easy! I try to do more interesting things on the weekend just to hear the cute comments from Jon.

And I agree- they don't have to be tight. Mine never are, but my straight hair makes it look so smooth and tidy- even if I'm not! ;)

I try to change my part every now and then though... just in case!

Aha, thanks. I guess, then, that I'm already stylish, since all my messy buns are so messy that they fall out. The best luck I have is by slicking everything back with aloe gel in a pretty sleek line.

Cheers,
Jonobie

I like Queen Latifah... she carrys herself well and has a great sense of humor. She wears that bun a lot, I've seen her in the magazines with it and she looks good!

I like her, too -- she's confident, appealing, and humorous. :D

I saw her today too, KM. She did look very sleek and polished - I think much like you do with your bun too. It's a very flattering look! :D
