What do you say about braided pigtails on a guy? Please post the reasons for your vote and any comments. I'll add my own vote and comments after the poll has run for a bit.

This was a classic male look in many places historically. I think it looks good on most and if you wear it often it will not seem so novel or strange to others.

I think it is good for most. If you start wearing your hair this way it will probably generate a few comments from friends. Just like any change will.

I put down "looks good on those who can pull it off." Actually, I think that is true of most hairstyles. It's a matter of whether it fits with your attitude and overall look.

Only if you're Willie Nelson, for me, or if you're of North American Indian origin. It's really a matter of personal taste... it's just not mine! :D

Thanks sweetie! Like most little girls, I wanted to be a princess when I grew up... so this is like a tribute to those days. Either that, or I just thought it was puuurdy. :D

Welcome to the LHC, by the way - you'll be addicted to it in no time!

I voted always because I can't think of an example where a guy doesn't look good in two braids.

My sentiments exactly! I think braids look good on almost every guy. :D

I voted for some guys, because there may be a few people out there who would look awful in braids. Every guy I have seen wearing 2 braids looked good in that style though. :)

Speaking of Willie Nelson, I got to see him with his hair down last year when he was shooting a video downtown. His hair was gorgeous, and so was the horse he was riding on.

I voted "a good style for some who can pull it off", because I've only seen one man with braided pigtails that I can recall. I was fifteen, he was a few years older and very cool, he went past me in the skiing slope and threw out an appreciative comment about my appearance. Of course I walked on clouds for days, and was the envy of my girlfriends.

I just don't know if every guy could pull it off. Maybe it requires a certain "I don't care" attitude as well? Because if the guy is very shy, then braided pigtails might not be his preferred style.

I think that any guy who considers wearing braided pigtails, is probably a guy who'd look cool in them :)

Edited to add: Viking type of guys probably look gorgeous in braided pigtails too

Braided pigtails? I voted "never." Here's why: My personal preference it that a guys hair looks relatively "undone." They can mess with it as much as they want, I just don't like it to look too "fixed."

Here are the styles I like, in order of preference:

1. low ponytail at base of neck
2. loose
3. single braid down the back

thats it. Just my humble opinion. ;)

Those few guys I've seen with their hair done this way look good with it. For most guys, though, I'm inclined to agree with Scarlett.

I have to agree with this one also. My wife (who absolutely hates long hair on guys) prefers the single braid vs. ponytail or loose.

Like that song on the radio says..."hell yes". If a guy wants to wear 2 braids and feels good with his hair that way. I think he will look good. Just like for a woman. I think everyone should wear their hair the way they want. That includes guys in 2 braids or buns or women over 50 with long hair. :bluebiggr

ITA with scarlett except for me all the above is good, no preference to order.

I'm with Jules and Hollie on this one. Then again, I don't even think they look very good on Willie Nelson, either. Just my opinion!

I think any style would look good on a guy with the confidence to wear it. Meaning if you made it out of the house with your hair in braids, you're probably confident enough to pull it off.

But I think the word "pigtails" is questionable.

Hi Gollan, Absalom here. I have actually worn my hair in braided pigtails a couple of times. I much prefer tying my hair back since it keeps it out of the way better.

I think that if someone feel confortable with them it looks always good!

If a man is comfortable in braids, he should wear them. Just like how if a woman is comfortable in braids, she should wear them. Well groomed, cared-for hair is beautiful on anyone, regardless of gender.

If you can pull it off, sure. Tho I've never seen a man wear it that way, outside of photos of aforementioned. Any pics, anyone?

I voted a good style for some who can pull it off. I had a guy friend wear his hear in a french braid down the back matching his wife's hairstyle.

I've never seen pigtails on a guy in person but why not?

The only man i've ever seen in pigtails was willie nelson. to me it added something to him, his persnoality.

if a guy can pull it off- kudos to him.

I voted "looks good on some," because I can't remember seeing a guy w/ braided pigtails in person any time recently. I suppose its like other hairstyles; what looks great on some looks terrible on others.

Well, I liked them on the elves in LOTR, but I don't think I have seen any since then that I liked. I thought the elves had neat hair.

Never liked it on guys, maybe it's because sometimes it looks so much better than on me!

Ditto for me on oogie's comments. I personally have neither tried nor really think I would look good in them but for those who can pull it off - great!

I generally use braided pigtails. Everytime!
I have 70 cm hair and I put them in one or two braids. I feel good with them, and it's very useful!

Hmm…nah… I don’t like the idea. I think it’s a difficult style to pull off even for a grown woman

I voted "always a good style", but what I really meant was that it looks OK on anybody, not that it looks good on anybody.

IMO braided pigtails is a style that looks OK on everybody regardless of gender, but looks particularly good only on very few people.

I had originally intended to vote for "all", but I kept picturing my longhaired guy friends in this style, one by one-- many of these guys are sys admin types who would never want the style anyway, and on these guys the style looked terrible. On the guys who would possibly consider the style, it looked fine in my imagination. It seems that the conditions of being the type of guy who would like the style and could make it out of the house with it work very well.

I'm barely coordinated enough to do the single long braid down the back! LOL. I bet my mom would do it up in pigtails if I asked her to; she'll do a single braid too but ties it much too tightly for my liking.

Never. IMO, it's a style that looks best on little girls to women in their early 20s.

I don't know...Maybe it's just me, but I find it hard to take a man seriously in braided pigtails. Although that is true for me also with women. I like the style, but not the overall effect I guess :)

SunCat

I voted not a good style as its not a look that I would like to see on men.

Little girls in pigtails is cute.

I messed up on the poll - gah! I voted "looks good on most" before I clued in that it was braided pigtails we're talking about. I really shouldn't vote on polls when I'm sleepy.

I prefer a single braid or ponytail myself. Or loose.

I think that guy hair is just like girl hair. Some styles look good on you, some styles don't. It depends on your hair and your face and maybe your posture or height. Everyone is different.
