View Full Version : New book: new routine
Kati75 March 4th, 2003, 12:19 AM I got that great hair book a couple of days ago, and now I have a new routine: I use a very mild organic shampoo ( in that book there's a lot of info on suds and tensids and all), and I fill 5 ml of it into a 100 ml squirt bottle. I then add 50 ml of soft water and shake. in the shower, I apply the water-shampoo-mix to the dry hair: right underneath and only to the scalp, not the lengths. I then rinse immediately and thoroughly. The author of my book says that this way you can reduce hair washes to once a week or less and you don't need any conditioner apart from a little oil. Before you start that method, she advises you to clarify. I'll let you know about any long-term results.
Cowgal March 4th, 2003, 02:47 AM That sounds good! I've been using oils instead of conditioners now for a month and love the results.
Good luck, Kati!
Meri March 4th, 2003, 08:27 AM That sounds marvelous, definitely something worth trying. I've been following a similar method of washing, albeit with regular shampoo and lots of conditioner.
But what I'd like to know is how this method deals with odour. Even though I don't smoke, I'm exposed to it most of the days of the week, and the smell just clings to my hair like it's found its soulmate. If you never wash of CO wash the length, what happens? Does the book recommend any ways of dealing with this?
Feye March 4th, 2003, 08:37 AM Yes, that sounds good!
Keep us updated!
Kati75 March 4th, 2003, 09:13 AM Meri, yes, while you rinse, the length stays down and gets touched by the minimum of suds you use. This way, it gets cleaned but not stripped. You apply the water-shampoo-mix to your dry scalp, distribute it evenly, then you rinse all of your hair for a long time with regular tap water in the shower.
Meri March 4th, 2003, 09:17 AM Aha, now I get it. Thanks :)
Arcticpixie March 4th, 2003, 10:22 AM Kati,
That sounds like a great way to keep from overwashing the length. Keep us posted on your results. Do they explain why you don't want to get it damp first??
Selvina March 4th, 2003, 12:34 PM Sorry if I missed it , but :
What is the title of the book ?
Kati75 March 4th, 2003, 10:35 PM It's a German book by Susanne Kehrer: Alles klar mit Haut und Haar. You get it at www.amazon.de, but I don't know whether there is an English version. But I'll keep you guys updated on what I read in it.
Axium March 5th, 2003, 06:21 AM I also mix my shampoo with good water and a few "additions" :)
and apply this way with a squeeze bottle. It's great. I think it's better all the way around.
Altho I'm not giving up my conditioners anytime soon - love them too much! :D
Kati75 March 5th, 2003, 08:53 AM Arcticpixie, I don't remeber if and how they explain that, but I'll look it up. There has to be a reason, otherwise I wouldn't have liked the idea so much, I guess... :D
