We'll I just got off the phone with my friend. She has gorgeous thick dark curls that she usually kept above her shoulder but had finally let grow to above BSL and was really happy with it longer. Apparently she went in to get an inch trimmed off and they took off 5. :steam So yeah definetely not the happiest camper. I went from almost tail bone to just below BSL a few weeks ago so I sympathise. Ugh what is it with the non understanding of what an inch means

She's very into to stylist and layers and the whole thing, this is teh first time she's had long hair so it's ehr first experience with the issue. Hopefully she'll find someone better. Me on the other hand I'm done most of my layers are gone from the chop and from now on I'll cut my own hair or find a friend to do it for me

Holy Molies! If she's still wedded to the idea of a stylist, maybe she can take you with her to stand there the whole time and watch the stylist like a hawk. But she needs to be prepeared to jump out of the chair if the stylist cuts so much as one lock too short. Another idea is to have you measure her dry hair in front of the stylist before her hair gets touched. Of course this idea means being willing to lay down the law in a harsh way if necessary.

Hairdressers.....

I used to have a great one, she would only let me come in 3 or 4 times a year and would give me micro mini cuts, just enough to even up the ends. Then I moved.....I tried asking for the same thing. Didn't work. I mentioned something about how I had an odd layer growing out. Mistake! So she was trimming me, and talking about how nice my hair would be with extensions. You know, the things that prevent you hair from ever *actually* getting that long? When she was done, she handed me the mirror and said, Look, no more weird layer! Of course not. She'd cut a deep angle from layer to ends to "blend" it.

I never thought I'd have the guts to cut my own hair, but--thank goodness for Feye. I think Xandergrammy has a great idea. You guys can really help each other out.
