AYUR Amla oil or Henna Sooq Amla oil.
This stuff is basically the oil pressed from the AMLA fruit (Indian gooseberry) and mixed with coconut oil.
I have greasy hair and my SO has balding hair.
So we have been massaging our collective scalps after each shower and both of us have noticed that not only is it very conditioning but also smell nice.
It is great as a leave in detagnler and works really well. Its soft and silky without being greasy or weighted down.
It seems to improve the texture and thickness of my SO balding pate as well and the massage is so relaxing.
If you want a natural simple ingredient detangler that can help thinning or greasy hair I would give it a try.

Keenkitty, I would be interested in trying this--is it really just amla juice and coconut oil? I tend to use only natural products, and am currently using Indian herbs to wash and condition, so I'd hate to add any scary chemicals (like mineral oil) to the mix, but you make it sound so wonderful....

Makes it grow in darker or makes it look darker like being wet makes it darker or does it actually darken the hair shaft permanently?
this sounds like a run on question :P but I am curious.
Thanks

Well, it seems to depend how you use amla, as to whether it darkens or not. Just used in a wash, no darkening. If you soak it overnight in an iron pot, or use it with henna or indigo, it's supposed to darken some. Mostly, amla is supposed to cool your scalp and to prevent grey hairs. I think this may be where some of the notion comes from that it darkens hair.

When I added amla powder to Morrocco Method neutral henna the silver strands around my face turned a light golden color that blended in so they were hardly noticeable. My dark brunette hair did look a shade darker all around. This doesn't happen when I use the neutral henna sans amla. I think the mix was in my hair about an hour.
FWIW the amla powder was from From Nature With Love. Their unscented amla oil (which does smell somewhat smoky) doesn't affect my hair color.

When I bought the Ayur Amla oil I can't remember HOW I got the AYUR address but I asked them to send me the ingredients in english and I got a reply of :
Refined coconut oil
Whole Indian Goose berries fermented and strained
Chlorophyll
Fragrance
So... yeah. Seems pretty simple and I have not noticed a darkening, I have also been using it on my DF and he thinks his hair feels thicker and LOVES the smell.
