View Full Version : Yea! My boyfriend encouraged me to grow my hair to my knees
Cowgal March 2nd, 2003, 04:37 PM He is soooo sweet.
We went to the rodeo last night together and were waiting in line to get food. There was a lady at the front of the line with straight blonde hair just past knee length (all loose too, none the less!).
He asked me "Are you going to grow your hair out that long?"
I answered "I would like to. I will probably stop where it gets too hard for me to take care of it on my own, and then let it grow out longer if you'll help me with it when were married."
He got this big grin :D like a mule eatin' briars (as he'd say). "I'd love to!" Then he started in on how he likes to brush it "when you let me". I told him he was free to brush it whenever he wants to. He's pretty good at braiding it too.
I would have liked to talk to that lady about her hair and see if she knew about this website. It looked like she was married (and she was mid-age, like 40+, so THERE- take THAT- all you mean ole short haired ladies who say women should cut their hair at a certain length- she looked fantastic) and ask if he helped with her hair or if she had funny stories like Karen Marie does about coping with the length on her own. She was so purty and inspiring. *sigh* in a couple of years........ knee length. Floor length? Hah. <Trying to imagine myself with floor length hair> Ooo!
Teacherbear March 2nd, 2003, 04:43 PM Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what a SWEETHEART
I even teared up at how sweet it was for him to say "when you let me"! hahahaahahahahahahaa
Can he give lessons to the hubbies/SOs who don't care one way or the other!? LOL
I'm happy for you!!! :)

Sounds very normal to me
*giggling at Micheal* I know, you didn't know it was funny, but know how much of a minority you are, (or it feels like you are sometimes) and how much we wish our dh's and so's would actually SAY the things about long hair that you do say.
Pixna March 3rd, 2003, 02:34 AM That is SO cool, Valerie!! Your BF sounds like such a sweetie. How wonderful to have a guy who not only WANTS you to grow your hair long but enjoys helping you take care of it. WOW!! He's a keeper for sure!!
Feye March 3rd, 2003, 02:52 AM That's so sweet!
I want a man like that too :)
DweamGoiL March 3rd, 2003, 11:11 AM and that he supports your long haired goals and is actually willing to help you realize them *sigh* ;)
RedButterfly March 3rd, 2003, 11:21 AM He sounds like a sweetheart! :)
I wish my hubby would say that. My hubby encourages me to grow my hair. However, he is unsure about my having hair longer than classic length. It's midback length now. Of course, he won't discourage or stop me from growing my hair to knee length. He just seems to like midback length to waist length hair best. However, I think that once he sees my hair getting longer, he'll like it. Ultimately, he just wants me to be happy. :D
Give your fiance a hug for such a sweet comment. :)
Anne March 3rd, 2003, 02:51 PM Yayyyy!!! how inspiring :D
I have yet to teach my husband how to braid properly. He's tried it a couple of times, but he needs more practice.
Give your boyfriend many hugs from all of us :)
GoldLady March 3rd, 2003, 04:34 PM Hi Cowgal! I was just sitting here reading your post and reminiscing about the years I used to rodeo. I was wondering what it would be like to run barrels with knee length hair. Can you imagine?! There were some girls at the NFR in December that had long blonde hair, but not that long. It looks really neat flying out behind them when they run.
What a sweet boyfriend you have! And a cowboy too!!
charlyee March 3rd, 2003, 04:41 PM Your boyfiend is a keeper and fancy meeting somebody in their 40s with long hair at the rodeo, how neat.
Rick March 3rd, 2003, 07:01 PM It is wonderful to hear that our BF wants to be part of your journey, C, . There are alot of men with a little coaxing would love to help their ladies with their hair. again, how great for you,,
Avrilon March 4th, 2003, 06:02 AM Hi Valerie :D
Jon sounds like such a sweetie! Well, I already knew he was from what you've mentoned about him. Mike said he'd be glad to braid my hair at night when I asked him last week, so I'm hoping to quit the washing in the morning and blow-drying routine most nights. (I'm thinking about doing 4 to 6 braids to get some wave and volume) Now, if I could only interest him in brushing my hair... that would be soooo nice!
You hang on to Jon - good ones are hard to find! :)

Rob Dehlinger March 5th, 2003, 07:16 PM Hi Valerie!
You will look angelic with your hair that long, but then, ya do now!
Anyway, I certainly encourage you to grow it that long (DUH!) and enjoy his "brush of love!"
