What’s your hair texture?

Igor

My hair is very coarse, but has a lot of very fine hair along the hair line
The fine hairs are very fragile and breaks before they get 5 cm/ 2 inches long :?

Very fine. You know how in fia's hairtyping method, it says to rub a hair between your fingers, and feel the thickness? Well, I did that, and couldn't feel my hair at all. Like a spiders web. And just about as strong, too. :)

I chose medium, even though I actually have a lot of hairs that are coarse (my silver hairs, for example) and fine (my nape seems to have lots of fine hairs). I think the majority of them are medium, though.

Cheers,
Jonobie

My hair is soft and fine, but not extremely fine... I also have a lot of it, so my ponytail circumference tends to make my hair appear thick. Static is a big problem for me, though, which is a typical fine-hair problem.

I have coarse hair.

I've got such a mix -- but mostly it's fine and medium. My hair hasn't made up it's mind yet what it wants to be. I'm still waiting for it to decide whether it wants to be wavy, curly, or straight. As far as texture, it tends to keep me guessing! ;) :D

My hair is all very fine, except the grays, which I'm learning to appreciate!

I chose Medium.

I find my 3A hair to be very soft; however, I wouldn't call it 'fine' or 'fine/medium' b/c it will hold any shape that I put it into (with a heated styling appliance, of course).

I do have a couple of gray hairs that are more on the medium/course side though... I just hope they continue to keep it to a "few". :)

Most of my hair is medium, but I'm finding more coarse hairs every day. So I chose medium/coarse.

For a while I was posting as medium but last month I changed it to Fine - Medium because I just don't think my strands are quite thick enough to be Medium. So maybe I'm really Medium - Fine but it sounds better saying F-M

Ah see, I threw a wrench into the works. You weren't expecting that were you?

I have it all! I think most of my hair is medium. I have coarse black hair growing all over my head but it's not the predominant texture. It's hard to tell how much of my hair is fine because the fine hairs are so tiny that they're easy to overlook mixed in with medium and coarse hairs. They seem to be a small percentage but how would I really know?

Definitely medium here. I always thought I had fine straight hair until I came across Fia's hairtyping system. Totally changed my conception of my hair.

I voted fine, it was naturally very straight and I could never get any curl no matter what curlers/hot irons I used to try. Whenever I went to a salon they would tell my how fine my hair was, and using Fia's system I can barely feel a hair between my fingers when I rub it.

I'm going with medium, but I'm not sure, since I've never compared it with anyone else's.

At first I though my hair is fine to medium(when I first read Fia's definitions). Now I decided my hair is fine afterall- but I have some thicker strands thrown in.
*rubs a few strands between her fingers*
Uhhhhh, I'm not sure anymore. :uhh: :wail: I voted for fine and for now I'll leave it at that otherwise i'll go :dizzy:

I guess I'm fine-medium. I'm pretty average across the board with my hair. Average texture and thickness, and I'm probably the average length for a longhair too at waist length. Maybe not though?

very fine and baby-ish
and the ones that I highlighted are fried-fine. If I touch those they break easily *tsk*. never again I tell ya....

I consider my hair to be medium. Although it's curly, it's very soft... however, not quite as soft/silky as I have felt on others. My mother has course, 3B... so I know it's not course. The few grays that I have coming in appear to be more medium/course, though.

EDIT: smacking myself in the head here, b/c I didn't realize that I already answered this thread last year-- and I wrote almost the same thing!!! LOL!

Some fine hairs around the hairline. Most of it is probably medium texture. I can feel an individual hair when I roll it between my fingers. It's not what I would call super fragile.

I think I am a fine/medium, I have found a lot of thicker strands.

Well, I guess I'm going to go with Medium. I do have a collection of Medium-Coarse strands, but, I think it's fairly safe to say that I'm a Medium, overall.

me too! mine's fine, but not limp, and thick for a blonde.

My hair is medium but I have some fine hairs that I am shedding that are five to six inches long. I'm not sure what that means, but I won't worry about it.

Its a bit between fine and medium, some hairs or really fine, other are thicker. So I just stick to the F-M thing, I think that comes closest.

Very fine (not able to feel between fingers/trouble seeing single hairs on contrasting backgrounds/translucent).

Like many gals with curls, most of my hair is fine. My nape 3C's, ironically, are the coarsest hair I have and they are definitely medium, heading for coarse. I have a *few* coarse hairs hiding amongst the fines, but very few. They are also much darker than the rest of my hair, and if I hold them up to the light, they are actually an extremely dark red to the point of almost being black. Wierd, huh?

My hair is a mixture. About 3/4 of my hairs are medium. You can see them really well and they are nice and soft. The other 1/4 of them are darker and thicker and harder feeling. They remind me of nylon sewing thread. Bizarre to me.

My hair is actually a mixture of all three.. Most of the hairs are medium, though. Some of my dark hairs that grow more from the nape of the neck are coarse, and some of the hair that grows from my temples are fine.

My hair is coarse and I have some medium textured hair along the hairline... which, like Igor, is prone to breakage.

Very coarse here. Except a load of baby fine hairs around my hairline that never grow long.

Mina
April 10th, 2005, 10:09 AM
I have some super-fine hairs around the hairline that never get any longer then say between 1 to 2 inches. The rest of my hair is very fine. I can feel a single hair when I rub it between my fingers, but it is hardly visible at all against a contrasting background.

My hair is medium although I wish it was coarse like my mom's. I loved my mom's hair when I was little so I want mine to be just like hers.

Majority is medium/coarse textured hair with a little bit of fine hairs mixed in.
