View Full Version : ~~~Seaweed questions~~~
Anne September 8th, 2003, 04:04 PM I've got some organic hijiki and kombu seaweed.
I think there was a thread about seaweed a few months back, but I can't find it....the search feature is weird...
Anyway, I'm wondering what I can do with it besides eat it (any ideas on eating it would be good too ;) ), but I'm mainly wondering if I can use it on my hair or skin.
Thank you :D
Anne September 8th, 2003, 04:29 PM found it :D
has anyone tried any of the external treatments since this thread?

Anne September 8th, 2003, 04:46 PM Okay, read the thread, fun read...
this leads me to another question about iodine content in seaweed.
I have acne prone skin, so I'm wondering about eating for hair health...iodine is supposed to cause acne in some people.
Any thoughts?
Heidi September 8th, 2003, 04:53 PM Hi Anne, I have acne prone skin too. I wish for both our sakes, we had something else in common  :D
I eat seaweed a lot. I'd call it one of my staples. I've never had a reaction from the iodine, nor have I ever had a reaction when using it externally (I grind up pieces of wakame in the blender with oatmeal to make scrubs or masks). I don't know if it helps my skin or not. But I do think that eating seaweed contributes to the growth of my hair and nails.
HTH!
smiles September 8th, 2003, 05:56 PM i have kelp powder... and still havent got the courage to try it. :?
my 'super green' protein powder that i used for smoothies used to have kelp, hawaiian spirulina etc... it was too good :D well, it still has all those, but i've run out of that powder. ;)

Maybe a mask?

Dulci September 9th, 2003, 07:34 AM Here is another page on Seaweed Baths, I found this the other day:
http://www.healthyhealing.com/aisle271.html
Click around some, there is also a button there for lots of seaweed food recipes, and a masque that uses ground kelp and aloe. Interesting articles on detoxification and cleansing on the rest of her site too!
Anne September 9th, 2003, 10:03 AM Oooo, more links :D thanks guys ;)
