ChicO November 7th, 2006, 02:46 AM Look what i found in one of my magazines:
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e241/gauner/200431992-002.jpg
This is my final goal length and colourwise! It is from an article of how to care for aging parents and this lady is holding her grandchild on this pic.
I like it that they are showing more and more ladies with long silver manes instead with this awful poodle perm.
tuuli November 7th, 2006, 03:00 AM That's so beautiful!:inlove:
Rosa.Damascena November 7th, 2006, 03:01 AM Hey, that's very beautiful! It's so rare to see ladies with silver manes and I'm everytime stunned how good it looks when I get a glimpse of a lady with longer grey or white hair. It's a pity that the most wear it short *sigh*.
dcs60 November 7th, 2006, 03:35 AM Isn't that beautiful??!! It's an inspiration for those of us who are "older" and pressured by society to cut our hair (as we age and start turning "silver"), just like those with long silver locks here! I'm looking forward to having long silver hair.
Thank you for sharing!!
epiphanee November 7th, 2006, 03:58 AM That is a beautiful photograph of a rare and lovely sight.

Liliana November 7th, 2006, 06:50 AM Wow. That's a woman who loves her hair and takes care of it. Thanks for sharing. It's great that you saw it in a magazine. It's got to turn a few heads and make some women think about long hair and why not long, silver hair!
Beth November 7th, 2006, 07:16 AM That is inspirational. My silvers are short. I wonder why.
Silverlady November 7th, 2006, 07:35 AM Oooo, Thank you for sharing this. I made it my computer destop picture. What an inspiration! This is my goal, to have my silver hair to at least waist length or longer like this photo, blunt cut and in a very healthy virgin state, which it is. Now I just need 4-6 more inches!
Krisi
GlennaGirl November 7th, 2006, 07:42 AM Gosh. That is just stunning.

I love to see long silver hair.
What an inspiration!
Flashaway November 7th, 2006, 03:15 PM This is so beautiful ! It's a shame that most older women think that they have to cut their hair, because the only picture for old women we saw in the hairdresser's book is pixie cuts.
breezefaerie November 7th, 2006, 03:34 PM Her hair is so beautiful!
rainy sunday November 7th, 2006, 04:03 PM That is gorgeous hair!
velvetcat November 7th, 2006, 04:04 PM It's beautiful. What an inspiration!
ole gray mare November 7th, 2006, 04:08 PM Oh thank you for posting that! I'm so inspired! She has my goal hair and realistically, I think I'm only a couple of years away.
RubyGlare November 7th, 2006, 04:10 PM What beautiful hair, she's like a Gibson grandmother. I definitely agree that more variety in hair lengths ought to be shown & encouraged, cause otherwise it just seems kind of boring/monotonous (to me at least).
MadHatter November 7th, 2006, 08:50 PM Wow! How stunning!!
TalyQ November 7th, 2006, 09:17 PM I guess I should show this picture to my mom, who keeps telling me that grey and long hair (loose hair) do not go together, right? It looks beautiful.
Natalija
maria_asa November 7th, 2006, 10:39 PM That really beautiful. That's how I would like my hair to look when I get older.
-Maria
Lucky November 7th, 2006, 11:30 PM wow beautiful hair! my great aunt Lucile had long, silver hair like that. This was back in the 70s-early 80s. I remember that she always wore it in a bun, but one time (when I was very young), I saw her combing her long hair and I thought she was a fairy!
merry November 8th, 2006, 01:20 AM Oooo, Thank you for sharing this. I made it my computer destop picture. What an inspiration! This is my goal, to have my silver hair to at least waist length or longer like this photo, blunt cut and in a very healthy virgin state, which it is. Now I just need 4-6 more inches! Krisi
Silverlady, your hair is stunning already. I'm sure there will be many of us watching your progress over the next year!
frannyg November 8th, 2006, 05:52 AM That is such a beautiful picture. The hair is so beautifully cared for. This is *exactly* my eventual dream hair:cloud9: . Well, maybe with a few more inches.
Thank you so much, ChicO, for posting the picture, and for providing some inspiration.:inlove:
ladiosaRosa November 8th, 2006, 06:35 AM It's beautiful hair! It's an inspiration and what I aspire to (only at my 29" terminal length). I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks for sharing.

Snowymoon November 8th, 2006, 07:39 AM :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:
Beautiful! Very inspiring! Thanks for posting that.
alligatorbaby23 November 8th, 2006, 08:00 AM Beautiful picture, great goal!
I always envy you straight hairs, especially with great silver/white coloring!
Now THAT is what I call aging with grace. Sigh.
Lux November 8th, 2006, 08:09 AM She has such a pretty color! If I had hair like that, I'd enjoy wearing it loose all the time to show it off.
I rarely see long curly hair, much less white/grey long curly hair. I don't think I've ever seen it, actually.
Peggy E. November 8th, 2006, 08:29 AM Yes, it does seem there are more and more long-haired "older" models appearing in all forms of media. I'm hoping it will help to spark a backlash to the "we must all look like twenty-year-olds" when we're really fifty.
More and more of us are crossing that border into the upper stratosphere of age, and we need to give ourselves permission to discover and appreciate the beauty we OWN v that we can only destroy ourselves in attempting to obtain.
In this youth-oriented culture, though, it's a tough road down which to happily stride, particularly when you consider the gazillion-dollar beauty industry which is largely geared towards keeping us all unnaturally young in appearance.
If we're told it's okay to have wrinkles, sags, gray hair and to celebrate our beauty as we truly are, there's going to be a hue and cry from the industry. After all, they depend upon our looking at our "old" faces, gray hair, sagging butts, boobs, arms, and screaming all the way to the cosmetics counter, the hair salon and the plastic surgeon!
It's going to take a major effort on our part to override this - not only must we change the public's perception of what is beautiful, but stand up against the mass media and their negative messages to the contrary, as well.
Takes guts and determination to grow old today! ;o)
Silverlady November 9th, 2006, 04:52 AM Silverlady, your hair is stunning already. I'm sure there will be many of us watching your progress over the next year!
Merry, Thank you for the lovely compliment. I don't know how many photos I can get out there as my DBF and I broke up and he was the photographer. Is there a place one can go for a photo to put on the computer who will also do the cropping and uploading? Hmmmm? Krisi
Silverlady November 9th, 2006, 04:56 AM It's beautiful hair! It's an inspiration and what I aspire to (only at my 29" terminal length). I'm looking forward to it.
ladioaRosa, How do you know 29" is your terminal length? I have often wondered when one really knows what it is. Have you been growing your hair for a couple of years or longer and it just never gets any longer? I am seriously interested in your answer. I seem to be quite stuck at 28" ish for about a year now and I now wonder if this is it. I'd love to hear from you. Krisi
amz1998 November 9th, 2006, 02:48 PM If my gray hair looked that good, I would let it go gray. However, and if any of you have read the post about graying hair you know how I feel, my gray hair is that yucky gray color, so, I pop on the color that is the closest to my former natural color and go. Anyway, I wish mine looked that good!
EbonyCurls November 9th, 2006, 03:12 PM gorgeous! I could only hope for beautiful silver hair like that but all the women in my family go dark dark grey instead (which is still very beautiful to me) I am definitely wearing my hair longer when I'm older.
ishtar lamarain November 9th, 2006, 11:46 PM I hate that 'granny bob cut' that all ladies seem to get once they pass a certain ages. It's awful! Kudos to that lady! Her hair is gorgeous!
Gaelic Girl January 9th, 2007, 08:35 PM Hey there!
I've always thought that it'd be great to have really long, silver, curly hair when I was old. (Although the few silvers I have I'm not crazy about just now! :) ) My grandmother had silver, straight, thin hair which she always wore in a French twist.
You and I have similar types of hair, although mine is dark brown. You have absolutely beautiful hair! You inspire me as I was worried I'd lose the curl with more length....can't wait for the next six inches!!! (I'm at 30")
Cheers,
Gaelic Girl
