View Full Version : I went back to my natural color
citymorningblue November 6th, 2006, 08:06 PM I'm really excited about this, to the point of having to admit I'm a total hair nerd. I went from blonde back to brown, because the blonde didn't suit me anymore. What do you think?
Then... and now.

(The brunette photo is the result of braid waves... I'm excited to see how it looks with my "real" curls.)
ole gray mare November 6th, 2006, 08:16 PM I think it looks beautiful! But then I must admit I'm partial to brown hair. And I'm partial to the color nature gives us. Either way, blonde or brown, you have gorgeous hair and incredible curls. Lucky girl you are!!
TalyQ November 6th, 2006, 08:19 PM I love your color, but then I am partial to brown and am never really impressed with blond, unless it's truly a natural blond. You hair looks lovely.
BorknagElf November 6th, 2006, 08:52 PM It's lovely, I'm usually partial to darker hair myself as well.
sunshinemommy November 6th, 2006, 09:05 PM Very nice naturally! I always like natural over chemical dye anyway. Your hair looks great. Keep up the good work.
MerryKat November 6th, 2006, 09:18 PM Looks amazing and your curls are stunning.
aisling November 6th, 2006, 10:03 PM I think both your blonde hair and brown hair are equally stunning, you have such a great looking hair. With the natural brown hair you have many benefits, like not having to dye the roots anymore and that generally means a healthier hair. Good decision in my opinion.
Lize November 6th, 2006, 10:34 PM It looks awesome! Your hair is so shiny and beautiful and the brown color looks very natural. You have my dream-hair! :)
sandrak November 6th, 2006, 10:57 PM Your hair looks lovely. How did you darken it?
Alley Cat November 6th, 2006, 11:40 PM They both look very nice your curls are gorgeous:inlove:
Rini November 7th, 2006, 12:06 AM So what did you use? It does look lovely and shiny! Do you think it suits your skin-tone better too? Thanks for showing us the pics :)
Katze November 7th, 2006, 12:32 AM very pretty! Suits your eyes and eyebrows. Your hair's length and texture is SO pretty - you're a pretty woman anyway!
I did this in June and had a bit of psychological adjustment - so many years of pretending to myself, and to others, that I was blonde. but natural is almost always better, somehow...
Tabitha November 7th, 2006, 01:28 AM That brown is lovely! :flowers: and your curls are so pretty.
I am hoping to have my lowlights made lower in about a month's time (they always seem to go gingery after a little while), possibly with a view to stopping them altogether after that.
Laululintu November 7th, 2006, 01:47 AM You've got such pretty curls! Your hair is such a lovely shade of brown too :flowers:
frannyg November 7th, 2006, 01:50 AM Blonde or brown, your hair is simply gorgeous.:flower: I'm glad that you've achieved a colour you feel confident in. It's amazing what the "right" colour can do for the look of your skin and eyes.
I also would love to hear how you did it.
unaspenser November 7th, 2006, 02:31 AM lovely hair, and good choice. Your hair will thank you for it. :)
MemSahib November 7th, 2006, 03:09 AM Very pretty, citymorningblue! You're going to love your real hair color, I think. It looks great!
dcs60 November 7th, 2006, 03:31 AM You have very pretty hair citymorningblue. Like others, I'm partial to the colour that is naturally given. And your hair will be happier in the long run, without the chemicals.
Jason November 7th, 2006, 03:31 AM I almost always prefer one's natural color. I love the darker hair on you.
Amoretti November 7th, 2006, 04:27 AM I also think it looks better, much shinier for starters. You won't have the hassle of touching up your roots every month and your eyebrows will look more in tune with the brown too.
I always wonder why so many dark haired women have this hankering for blonde hair. If the blonde is natural I think it's lovely, but dyed blonde rarely looks good, unfortunately. Here in Spain where most people have brown hair the norm is for women to have blonde highlights put in. I wish they'd realize how gorgeous their brown hair is.
Sally November 7th, 2006, 04:29 AM :rockerdud smart move
jessie58 November 7th, 2006, 04:31 AM Well I've always been partial to pictures of your pretty hair but now I really like it even more because I'm a big fan of brunette.
Nice job, be sure to post more pictures for us.
Shermie Girl November 7th, 2006, 04:36 AM Your hair looks great. The blonde was pretty, but I think that the brunette really suits you. And your hair looks thicker and shinier, too.
Nightshade November 7th, 2006, 04:46 AM As a "not generally impressed with dyed blonde hair" person, I LOVE it. LOVE IT LOVE IT. The color is so much richer, and I think it will look much better with your skin.
:flowers: Well done!!
redtea November 7th, 2006, 06:05 AM I'm a dyed blonde too, even though I love the way long dark hair looks and don't really like the way dyed blonde looks - I know, it makes no sense. I think you made the right decision and it looks great. It will be nice not to have to worry about your roots anymore too! Plus, I've always thought darker hair makes a person's features stand out more. :)
Rosetta November 7th, 2006, 06:31 AM Maybe I shouldn't say it, but, to be quite honest, actually I like your lighter colour more. It was lovely & very natural looking, not at all like dyed blonde! (I agree that bleached blonde doesn't look very nice...)
But anyway, the important thing is of course that you're yourself happy with your hair! And natural colour is surely easier to maintain, that's one thing for certain!
spidermom November 7th, 2006, 06:48 AM I had no idea the blond was actually your un-natural color. What a surprise! The brunette looks lovely, and I am sure your hair will benefit from the change.
nappywomyn November 7th, 2006, 06:59 AM I didn't know you weren't a natural blond either - but I must admit - that brown is GORGEOUS - it's chocolately *gets a sudden craving for leftover Halloween candy*
It's lovely - how do you feel about it???
Tap Dancer November 7th, 2006, 07:06 AM Both hair colors look nice on you, IMO. But, like many others here, I love brunette shades. ;)
vrle November 7th, 2006, 07:08 AM I prefer the brown. You made a good choice! Did you use a chemical hairdye (I can't think of another way to get that kind of color?) ? Your hair looks very healthy though.
Carina November 7th, 2006, 07:11 AM I think you look great with your natural haircolour.I'm blonde but I like the brunette shades too.

If the blonde is natural I think it's lovely, but dyed blonde rarely looks good, unfortunately. Here in Spain where most people have brown hair the norm is for women to have blonde highlights put in. I wish they'd realize how gorgeous their brown hair is.
I wonder this too, now... When I first started dyeing my hair blonde, I was just 10 or 11 years old, and heavily under the influence of people like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. I saw blonde hair as the calling card of any famous, universally-liked star. (At the time, I was kind of obsessed with becoming a pop singer like Britney.) Now I wish I hadn't ever done it, because I walked around for four years pretending to have a "blonde personality" when I never really did.
How did you darken it?
I got it done at a salon. *Waits to get hit with a slew of tomatoes wielded by salon-hating LHCers* :silly: I would've had no idea how to do it myself. Fortunately, I have the kind of hairdresser that I'd trust with my life. (Okay, maybe not my life, but the life of my hair.) They've never shown me any reason to doubt them, as have many LHCers' stylists of horror stories.
Thanks for the kind words everyone :)

No worries about the tomatoes :) It's always wiser to have someone help you color correct your hair. Salons often have better tools than Random Box of Dye from the Drugstore. I think you made a wise choice. :flowers:
Emichiee November 7th, 2006, 08:11 AM I didn't know you weren't a natural blond either - but I must admit - that brown is GORGEOUS - it's chocolately *gets a sudden craving for leftover Halloween candy*
It's lovely - how do you feel about it???
lol,
it also has the color of cafe latte ^^, I think it looks very nice.
Im also curious what you used for changing the color?
Celogrl November 7th, 2006, 08:18 AM I love it! (Not that you looked bad before- you're pretty with any color hair!)
Michelle Ravel November 7th, 2006, 08:33 AM Looks fantastic--and think! You'll never have to worry about your roots growing in again!
Curlsgirl November 7th, 2006, 08:50 AM I LOVE it! I kick myself all the time for not staying natural when I DIDN'T have gray like you
pennylane November 7th, 2006, 12:52 PM I love it both ways. You look lovely as a blonde and lovely as a brunette. :inlove:
breezefaerie November 7th, 2006, 12:58 PM I agree - you looked lovely as a blonde, and just as lovely as a brunette!
Your hair is just as shiney and healthy looking in both pics; I think the salon was a good call.
darkwaves November 7th, 2006, 02:36 PM You have such pretty hair -- it would look lovely any colour! Did it take a lot of thinking and planning to take this step? (The new look is great, btw.)
Fireweed November 7th, 2006, 03:21 PM You were so pretty blond, but you look great now too. I love your curls.
EbonyCurls November 9th, 2006, 05:35 PM I always thought your hair was beautiful! I love my curls but I ADORE yours! so pretty blonde or brunette.
