So I have noticed that since the weather here has turned colder - I have had a significant increase in split ends. Has anyone else experienced this?

I tend to notice this mostly because as it gets colder the air gets drier and it gets harder to keep moisture in my poor hair. Damp bunning seems to help.

Glad I am not the only one. We had a cold snap overnight - and my hair seemed to split almost instantly.

I'm never sure whether my hair is splitting extra or whether I just see the split ends more easily. The splits do a better job of hiding when my hair is well moisturized. Snowy's Moisture Treatment tends to make it look better for a few days. :)

I am pretty sure this was extra splits - I had dusted the day before - had done a nice moisutre treatment (one that I had used before with no problems) put my hair up left it in the bun over night - Combed out in the morning, hair looked great - I bunned it back up. Storm moved in midday. Took my hair out of the bun next morning - and had splits galore.

I haven't really noticed any extra's yet, but when the forecast started calling for cooler weather I started wearing my hair up and keeping it a little on the oily side.

I definately notice more splits with colder weather. I've stopped trying to S&D all of them, it's just not possible for me, and instead do tons of moisture treatments. SMTs, heavy oiling, light oiling, light conditioner, and damp bunning are all keeping my hair in tip-top shape with this cold weather! I have to keep my hair up most of the time (at home, when I'm asleep, etc etc) with the ends tucked in, otherwise they get fried from the dry air!

I noticed more splits as well, but i realized my clothing was causing the problem. Wearing hoods and turle necks can cause split ends, that is one reason why I use a claw clamp alot or headwraps in the winter.
