Hey everyone,

I've been reading but not posting too much and there has been lots going on in my hair world. :)

I got a copy of the Hair Grower's Handbook & the Hair Care & Beauty book by Aubrey Hampton. These two books are so very different, but each has a lot to offer. The HGH is a great read, acessible and fun. I learned a lot from it and I think it will help keep me from trimming to much. I also enjoyed the funny miscelaneous info, fun and amusing. The Aubrey book is much more technical, but there is an section on his hair care routine. It wasn't great but somewhat helpful. I think I like Niel's book best but the Aubrey book is packed with technical info about cosmetics, ingredients and the like.

I also recieved an order from Morgan Reed. My partner bought me a purpleheart comb and 3 prong fork. The comb is nice, quite small but it works well for me as it forces me to only comb a small section at a time which makes me take my time and be gentle. The fork is really heavy! I was surprised by it's weight and thickness, compared to Eve (Blondiesturn) forks this guy is klunky. I'm thinking as my hair gets longer I'll have a fork that I know won't snap. It does work well in my hair but I think I like Eve's a bit better. I think I need more of her forks :)

AO is winning the battle over MM for me at the moment which seems weird but my hair just seems to love the AO products. The MM ones aren't working quite as well for me, I haven't done the whole system though as I'm waiting for the conditioner sprays. I think I'm attached mentally to the AO products too. As a treat today I purchased some of the AO Blue Chamomile & regular Chamomile shampoos and some Green Tea Cream Rinse. I had a small sample of the regular chamomile shampoo which I have been using this week and my hair has never been so happy. So I'm thinking I might leave the MM stuff till later when I'm needing a change.

Anyway that's me update, I'm finding it a little harder to keep up on our new board but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually.

Hi Shelly - just keep hitting those "new posts"

I use(d) AO and MM also, like 'em both but feel thta MM leaves my hair much smoother and less dry. I do sometimes use MM with AO conditioners and that works very nicely too.

Neil's book is terrific - but he's got me convinced that I probably won't be able to grow great lengths due to shedding rate :( . Oh well, by the time I got there I'd be so old it might not make any difference anyway :DD ...g

A fork that doesn't snap is always an asset! I get so tired of my hairtoys breaking, snapping, cracking or bending every time I stick them in my hair. I haven't bought hairsticks in forever because the last pair I bought snapped in the parking lot on the first try. My Fakkare cracked yesterday, and I didn't know it till I tried to take it out of my twist! Youch! It pulled something awful. Actually, this just tells me that I need to acquire better quality hairtoys made for thick heavy hair instead of supermarket brands meant for normal, well behaved hair.

my hair: "No, I WILL not take that decorative comb"

me: "Yes you will"

hair: "No I will NOT."

me: grunt, wiggle, slip, coax...."Tadaaa"

SNAP

hair: "I TOLD you, NO"

You get the picture. So enjoy that clunky sucker, you'll be glad you did :D
