I'm not sure if this has been posted before or not, but what is the difference between using a Mason Pearson brush or a regular brush that you buy from the drugstore? I'm really new to this...

Quality, quality, quality. :)

It takes me about a year to go through a drugstore brand natural bristle brush. The bristles get "old," fall out, break, mat together, ...etc. LOL

I've had my Mason Pearson since my mom gave it to me a couple of years ago. BUT, she bought it about 40 years ago in a store in Beverly Hills (I think she said it was a posh antique store) and used it religiously everyday. The bristles are all beautiful still (with no maintenance whatsoever) and the brush finish is still beautiful, minus a chip in it due to a tantrum when I was little (I hit it on the granite countertop LOL).

Anyway, the MP brushes feel A~M~A~Z~I~N~G on your scalp. Much better (IMO) than a drugstore brush.

Here's the MP website, though they don't sell them there, there's some good info on the variety that they have.

As for a site to purchase from, I can't really help you. There are others on the board who will most definitely read this who can help you. I'll keep my eyes and ears open, though! :)

I'll repeat what Stephanie said, Quality, Quality, Quality . . .

I've tried MANY bbb's (boars bristle brushes), but the Mason Pearson all natural BBB is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got mine on Ebay, where you can sometimes get them for BARGAINS! ;)

Thank you so much! That sounds great and I definititely want to get one of those! :D

Does anyone here have the pocket sized boar bristle brush? That's just about all I can afford at the moment, the others are a bit too much for me to spend right now since I'm getting married in May. Is it worth it to wait and get one of the larger brushes when I can afford it? At the moment I usually just use a wide tooth comb on my hair.

Lauren,
I see you are in England - if so you can get MPs either by mail order direct from the company (contact them at the website), or if you have a John Lewis/Robert Sayle department store near you they usually sell the full range :)

I have the pocket pure bristle, and it is pretty good. But it just doesn't doesn't feel as nice as the larger one, you need more strokes and don't get the same smoothing effect. But if the small is all you can afford then it works just fine, I'm just spoilt LOL!

I actually saw them on http://www.hqhair.com/, but I'll get one for the best price I can get. :) I'll look into that, thank you! :D

Hey, Lauren! :D

ITA with Steph. I have the Handy size Mixed Nylon & BB and I just can't live without it. ;)
I got mine for about $60 at Beauty.com and it took a few days for it to get here.
There is another size larger, but imo, the Handy size is absolutely perfect. Not small at all, and not too big! :) Like the size of any 'general' brush, lol.
If I were you, I'd wait a bit to get one bigger than Pocket-size. Just cause I love mine so much! :DD

hths!

Love Dani

One of the salons here has MP brushes, and I've got a 15% off coupon for any item. I might get a Mason Pearson if the discount it good, but if I can get it still cheaper online, that'd be the way to go.

Does anyone know what a decent price range is for MP brushes?

Thanks!
