View Full Version : Ficcare GO - can anyone tell me how to do one?

Hi all! I have been looking at everyone's pictures with Ficcares (especially Cinnamon Hair's - awesome!) and I really really want to get some! I would be glad to coordinate a group order, if someone can tell me how to get started, where I order them from, etc. I have a PayPal account (and can take credit cards through it as well), so anyone who wants to order could pay that way, or check or MO - whatever is typically done. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

This is from the sticky at the top if the swap board
- Using the Swap Board to coordinate group orders is always allowed. It is not necessary, but encouraged, that one is an active and known member for several months in the community, with many quality posts accumulated, before initiating a group order as that increases the chances of other members trusting one's intentions and wanting to participate. Members participating in group orders do so at their own risk; it is members' responsibility to evaluate the reliability of any group order and its coordinator(s) based on join date, post count, trader ratings, and general quality of posts, etc. LHC's administrative team is not responsible for the success or failure of any group order or its coordinator(s), nor will it be held responsible if participants do not receive goods paid for in a group order or for any consequences of imparting personal information, such as names, addresses, or account numbers, to unknown persons over the internet.

Seeing how you do not yet have access to the private areas of the board, you've only been a member for a couple of months and you do not have any trader ratings, I doubt you would get a lot of participants if you headed up an order. This is no offense to you in the least, but people have had their money stolen on group orders before, and Ficcares are high-priced items. You can purchase Ficcares directly from the company or from other businesses that sell them.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but there's no need to do a group order, unless you only want one clip. If you are ordering two or more, you'll meet Ficcare's minimum; then, the only advantage to a group order is that you can generally save a bit on shipping.

As for how to do one... there is no set way. You just need to know who wants to order, what they want to order, their shipping adress/information, and how much the total cost is for each person (total cost = clip + their part of Ficcare's shipping + shipping to them + any PayPal fees). That's about it.

Something for everyone to keep in mind: participating in a group order means that you are sharing your personal identifiable information with someone (your address, for one). You may want to at least think before sharing.

HTH some!

Thank you both for your responses - I just thought since everyone seems to post a lot about Ficcares and getting them, I could help out in some way by coordinating a GO. Your answers were very helpful! Have a fabulous evening!

Rae - I looked last night at www.headgamesonline.com and they have Ficcares for sale there. I think I may go through them myself - I just want to order one to make sure it will work with my ten tons of hair!

If I were you, I'd research HeadGamesOnline's reputation a bit further before buying from them. (That's a friendly hint: they've given other forum members problems before, best to find out what you may be in for.) Also, they only have a few styles of Ficcare.

I've ordered directly from Ficcare, over the phone, with no troubles of any kind.

This Ficcare Catalogs (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=13154) thread, over on the Swap board, has a link to Ficcare catalogs (scanned). You can read the catalogs, find what you want, and then just call Ficcare to place your order.

There's a $50 minimum, so you'll need to order several clips at once. (I think this is the main reason people get involved in group orders, since it's an easy way to buy just one clip, assuming there aren't any problems with the group order.)

HTH!!

I know somebody had a link to a direct email to Ficcare that they'd used in the past with good results, but I can't remember who it was, and the search function isn't throwing up anything useful! If anyone knows it, can they post it or PM me?

(Sorry - am phobic about phones anyway and hate making international calls in particular)

My thread about Head Games is still going strong here: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=28797 - I haven't ordered from them since last year and won't be doing so again, but other people have shared their experiences both positive and negative. I'm sure there are other Head Games threads as well.

Speaking personally, I wouldn't get involved with a Ficcare group order again. No disrespect at all intended to Birdie, who I know has gone the extra mile to try to sort things out, or to the organisers of the early 2005 GO that didn't happen, but... well, I've tried to sign up to a group order twice and I haven't seen any Ficcares from either, and whilst I wasn't actually out any money on the first one, I am on the second. I just think they must be cursed or something.

I would buy directly from Ficcare or go to your nearest Nordstroms. No
more GOs for me. Too stressful for all concerned. Just my 2cents! ;)

Another thing that I have done (successfully)...find a friend here on LHC, and do a mini GO. 2 or three people. It is simple and much easier than a big GO and works well, especially if the two of you know each other well.

Again, the best route to go is to look at the scanned catalog, link at the top of the swap board, and call Ficarre directly and place your order. They have an 800 number, and when you place your order, you will gat a catalog of your own, as well as they will send you all future catalogs and discount coupons.

Another silly question - where is Ficcare based? (ie the ph no. 626-839-1602)... is that in California??

Just that I need to work out the time zone.... :)

Many thanks.
