I have white tiles in bathroom, and when single hairs on on the floor, you have to look carefully to see them. I keep the dustbuster in there and just do a preemptive sweep.

My hair has loose S-waves when it dries naturally, and it can be prone to slight frizzies on the actual day of washing, if I don't use oils or cones. But it can be fairly straight the next day if I sleep with it loose on a satin pillowcase. Does that mean it's still 2a? :?

My hair does that too. But it's the natural after-wash state that is the correct one. The rest (sleeping with hair on satin pillowcase) could be considered 'styling' actually :)

I'd have to agree, 2a. Sleeping on your hair/with your hair down does straighten it. So, we'll have to go by when your hair is washed, then completely dried without anything touching it.
HTH! :)

Over the years, the texture of my hair has changed. It seems that I'm getting more waves. I think I've changed from a 1c to a 2a. Strange how hair does that, no?

I voted curly, but most of my hair is wavy at the top an middle with natural sausage curls at the ends, and many curls underneath. It seems to be getting curlier as it gets longer.

right now my hair is 1b i think-but it's still fairly short and cut in layers. I think I'll be 1a when my hair is longer-at least I'm pretty sure it was when it was long.

I put down curly, although as it gets longer the curls are becoming more wavy. When it was only shoulder length it was really curly.

March 6th, 2004, 07:15 PM
In the back underneath I'm a 1C but the top and sides are straighter, probably 1B. I can plop more wave into it if I want to. When it was shoulder length I thought it was just plain straight but now I can see the slight waves. Who knew??

I voted for curly. My hair was very curly when short - between a 3a and 3b. But now that it is longer, my hair is getting wavier. My hair is now probably a mix of 2c and 3a.

I voted wavy. Cause without touching my hair it dries wavy and if I plop it I can get it to look pretty curly. It seems as it gets longer the curls become more defined< I guess it gets enough length to allow the curl to be made.?? go figure. oh well as I said in another post, I get really good at saying"yeah that's what I wanted my hair to do". Cause it never looks the same twice in a row even though I do the very same thing to it most everytime.

I have long, straight, blonde hair, one-third of the way down my back. I'm lucky I have a wife that likes long hair on men. I'm growing my hair longer to tailbone length or possibly mid-thigh length.
I own my own business and can grow my hair as long as I like.

curly- 2c-3 mix

Rain
March 25th, 2004, 04:14 PM
It's curly. It's a combination of Botticelli curls and corkscrews (mostly Botticelli) or 3a,b and c using Andre's system or 3ab&cMCiii using fia. The length has really helped me embrace my curls because it stretches them out and they never form the dreaded mushroom puff I used to get when I had a short bob.

Mine is as straight as straight can be. And I like it this way.

You know, most people I know with curly or wavy hair want it straight and the ones with straight hair want it to be wavy. Strange. I'm happy with my deadstraight hair and I wouldn't want it any other way. I think straight is the easiest way to take care of.

I completely agree. My hair will go straight with persistent combings while it's wet, or almost curly with product. If i comb it and wear it down, it feels huge. If I don't comb it and put product in it, it feels good. I wear it up for the sake of simplicity.

I like how wavy hair was described as confused. That describes my hair quite aptly, because my hair *is* confused. My longest, oldest foot of hair is wavy/curly, mid-length is wavy/straight, and from mid-back on up is wavy/curly again. It makes for rumpled looking hair. *chuckling*

I'm a horrible mutt ... most of the time when my hair dries normally (ie, touched and fingercombed a LOT) it's moderately wavy, meaning one or two big, bold, stretched-out s-waves ... but after a day or two of not washing, the waves all but disappear ... and if I let my hair dry with NO to minimal touching, I recently discovered it's not unknown to form ringlets (especially if dried in a pony) :ponder: So yep, I'm a mutt alright :D

ETA: lol at Seirra's comment about wavy hair being "confused" ... I think that describes my hair to a T :)

bellawave
December 31st, 2004, 06:31 AM
I'm a mutt too! I have two distinct kinds of hair on my head. The canopy is coarser and almost completely straight; it will curl a little but just on the ends and only in a half-curl. The underlayers are finer and have a regular s-wave pattern. The lower on my head, the more distinct the wave pattern. So, if it's all one length it looks straight most of the time, and if it's layered (or half-up) it looks wavy.

All of my hair can get bushy and frizzy in humidity, and some individual strands will even spiral but I don't get actual spiral curls clumped together.

Same here. When I let it down to air dry, I usually have a couple of spots that aren't wavy but not quite straight either. They usually straighten out more after it's been dry for a little more.

Well, I should have read your post first. I put wavy. I should have marked straight. My hair has what I consider an annoying wave to it. It isn't pretty, but it makes my hair look funny. I would rather either have straight straight hair, or maybe a 2b-3a, but not this 1b-1c that I have now. Oh well. Maybe the wave will look prettier as I learn how to treat my hair better. I was a 3a till I was about 4 years old though.

Curly and lovin' it! After fighting my curls for so many years of my life, I've finally put down the comb and learned how to care for them. My hair is wacky with a mind of it's own, though! I have lots of ringles and lots of 's' curls, some 's'curls with ringlets on the ends, and lots of frizz under the right conditions. It's fine to medium, and not thick at all (wish it were a little thicker!)

I answered this a while back and I'm just updating a bit.
I'm currently doing a project with checking how my hair looks after I wash with certain products. I think when I'm done I'm going to change to 2a/2b because my ends are getting wavier. But that's still a few weeks away.

well, I have typed myself as a 1b, but i just voted wavy because I have noticed lately that the perm i had six months ago isn't quite as gone as i thought. I seldom see the hair in the back and the sides are fairly straight now. Since I joined here, I look at the back of my hair a lot more! 1b is my NATURAL type, so maybe I screwed up the poll :( sorry

I'm a 2c/3a iii. When I air dry my hair tends to stay curly,
if I braid it while wet it stays on the wavy side.
It's very thick and coarse so it tends to act the way it
wants to.
I try not to fight it but just to lry it be. It seems to need a
bit of time to readjust if I leave it down after it dries.

Straight! I was surprised when Fia typed my sig pic as 1a but I realized that it's totally valid -- about half of the time my hair looks like that, and the other half it has some body wave. It really depends on how it dries after I wash it. It dried funny the last time I washed the length and I had one lock of S waves in the middle of my back for two weeks. :silly:

Wavy for me :)
My hair is 2 a to 2b most of the time...I have some ringlets underneath the canopy that I suppose would be 2 c or maybe even 3 a, but I classify myself as wavy anyways. gels and the like help my wavies, but they darken my hair, so I usually scrunch wet hair and then clip the top parts of my hair up while they dry and that helps me have a lovely 2b/c wave to my hair.

It would figure that me, being the undisputed championof indiciciveness, would have hair that isneither straight, nor curly, but somewhere in between...lol

March 28th, 2005, 01:31 PM
Definitely straight here. I'm not sure if it's a strict 1a or more of a 1b.... reading the written descriptions, I'd pick 1b. But looking at the typing pictures, I'd definitely say 1a. There's absolutely no wave to it, but it does have body.

I am so thrilled to be able to vote Wavy! I am 44, and all my life until a couple of months ago I thought my hair was straight. Treating it more gently has brought out the waves I never knew were there. And I really needed them with my baby-fine hair. It has always been so flat!

I have to really baby it, since it does straighten very easily.

Strawberryfine, your hair is so much like mine. I would say you are a 2a like me. I think you'll see the wave more as it gets longer.

Wavy, and it's gotten wavier as I learned how to take care of it here, and it got more moisturized. I can even coax it into curliness with some regularity, although it tends to stretch back into waves as the day goes on.

Straight.

1b F ii (3 1/2" ponytail circumference).

I am pretty sure I don't have the S-waves of a 1c, but I do have a cowlick right at the nape of my neck where the hair grows straight out before the length pulls it down. I can actually feel this "bump" under my canopy, but it doesn't show. I guess what it does in practical terms is provide me with more volume back there as the canopy hangs over it, and that's good.

I have always liked my hair. I don't want it to be different. Never wanted to be curly, or wavy, or blonde, or whatever. However, it's possibly growing a bit wavier with age ... I'm not sure. I would be okay with that, if so. I'm lucky that I have always been happy with my hair, even though I have often taken it for granted because I didn't know better!

I'll be dipped if I know. I don't even think my hair knows. It's not perfectly straight, but it's not what you'd call wavy either. When it dries, it seems to like to wave just enough to really frustrate me.
The only positive side to this is that when it does get long, it might hold braid waves pretty well.. we'll have to see.

... most of the time when my hair dries normally...it's moderately wavy... but after a day or two of not washing, the waves all but disappear ... and if I let my hair dry with NO to minimal touching...it's not unknown to form ringlets...

That sounds a lot like my hair!

I believe i picked the wrong type for my hair profile inthe beginning. My hair is wavy freshly washed with nothign in it but the underside of my hiar is like silky straight no wave. IT's weird. if i put any styling creams in my hair it seems to be more on teh curly side. who knows but overall my hair is wavy.

Most of the time it's straight as a stick. I've noticed recently that I have a new cowlick about two inches to the left of my natural crown. The longer my hair gets the more the ends try to wave.

Wavy, and getting wavier as I take better care of it. I first classified my hair as 1c when I found LHC-now I think I'm 2a maybe even 2b on some days. I read in the Curly Girl book that some S waves need to grow longer than shoulder length in order to show-so be growing my hair maybe it will get wavier.

Yes, I thought I was a 1a, but realize now I'm a 2a. When my hair is short you don't see the waves at all.

My hair is totally straight. If I use curlers in it, the curl will fall out by lunchtime even with tons of product.

It always seems funny to me when someone's hair is wavier on top, because mine is always wavier underneath.

I had quite a difficult time trying to answer this poll. I finally chose "wavy"... but that can completely change depending on so many factors.

If I were to type my hair after letting it air dry (without touching it), it would be 2a.

If I were to type my hair after brushing it a little, I would be 1b... however my tips love to do a vintage flip that makes me look like a 1950s house wife.

If there is a lot of humidity in the air, then my roots are completely straight and my tips are in big fat sausage curls.

My hair has four waves like an "S" in the area below the nape. Before the nape it is quite straight. Stick straight. To be precise.

I used to think my hair was poker straight, but when straightened hair was in fashion couple of years ago, I realised mine actually had a kink. I'll have to wait until it's a bit longer and the layers have grown out to determine if it's really 1b or 1c.

The hair on my head varies from 2b - 3a, but i am considered wavy as my curls relax during the day, & 3rd day after a wash it is almost straight.

I voted straight, but I'm another who's hair has changed considerably over the years. I never used to be able to get more than an hours worth of curl out of my hair after spending 24 hours in curlers, or all day in hot rollers. No matter what kind of product I used with them. Perms didn't work at all, they just turned my hair to fuzz. Short fuzz.

Now however, it curls easily, and I permed it 2 months ago and the results are still fabulous!! I don't like the look of just wearing it down because my hair is too thin for that, but I wear it up roll the length into a few curls around my finger and go! I could NEVER have done that before. Everything about it is completely different than any perm I ever had before. Mind, it's been YEARS since I've had one, and I know they've changed a lot, but my hair was already holding curl from rollers and I could roll my baby hair that is around my face around my fingers, hold it a minute and have a curly fringe that would stay fine with just a little hair spray. I never used gel or anything, I could never have done that before either. Growing up is really a great thing!! :rockerdud

My hair has three different textures. Spiral curly in the back, loose coils on the sides, and tighter coils at that crown. The overall texture of my hair is medium, and a small section at the very top is course. I love my hair because it is natural, jet black, and lustrous. Because I am getting older, I will do anything to take better care of my hair.

I'm definitely a wavy girl, myself. I'm a 2b/2c naturally, but - between washings - it usually gets straightened out to about a 2a eventually due to my wearing buns most of the time. Though, it usually always has some sort of spiral-y type waves at the ends, unless I keep combing them out, no matter what.

I´ve got wavy hair, but without layers it looks more straight because it´s thick and very heavy, so I wear layers because I love wavy or curly hair.

3b spiral tubular curls although I can get it kind of wavy (3aish) if I rake my fingers through it after it dries.

Since I usually wash my hair at night and sleep on it, I type myself as a 1b. BUT I guess I'm a 2a-2b if we're talking about how my hair looks after I wash it and it air dries. :)

My hair seems to have decided to turn into a really big 3C. Its the kind of extremely curly locks that bounce up and down several times if you pull at it lol. It can go down to 3B/3c if I braid it.

Well, the picture in my sig (left one, the other one is my DH's) is almost "natural". I think my hair is naturally a little bit wavier than that. I used to think I have straight hair that just wouldn't behave. :D I mean, if I let it air-dry then it's all wavy, if I combed it down the waves are less but I get this huge volume that's all frizzy. I think I only got really straight hair once in my life. My mom tried to perm my hair once and it didn't work but turned all my hair straight for a few months. :D

I call myself 2C, but think I am probably 2C/3A since I have quite a bit of bounce to my "almost curls". They are as spiraly as they are "s" shaped, too. I don't want to think of myself as a "3" though, because I don't want to always worry about my hair being "curly" enough. KWIM? ;)

I am in between 2c and 3a. If I go somewhere humid it is all 3a and very pretty. I took my husband to visit my mother's side of the family in Lima, Peru (on the coast and humid) the third morning we were there he asked me if I had gone out and permed my hair! LOL! Where I live I have to keep it well conditioned to keep the dreaded frizz away!

Mine's straight, but I do have a feeling the longer my hair gets, the more braidwaves tend to stay. When my hair was shorter it was stick straight, but now I often catch a mini curve here and there. Maybe because of a braid (at night) but who knows... It might change or something.

I've got 1b F ii/iii. As a kid, it used to be more 1a, but changed during puberty. I always wished I had nice 3a/b hair, though. At least now it can hold a wave/curl for a bit - as a kid any attempt to curl it fell right out.
