Scarlett requested me to post this here in the recipe section. It's a really simple recipe for hairspray that can be adjusted to the amount of "hold" you desire.
Firm Hold Hair Spray
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
Pour the boiling water over the sugar and stir as it dissolves. Once cool, pour into a clean hair spray bottle. For a less firm hold, decrease the sugar.

rachel, what does a hair spray do?
i've it once and it was just a light spray... in two mins, it made my hair dry and hard.
if it reduces the frizzies, does it do the same function as a gel?
i'm wondering because i want to try this recipe, but dont have a clue on what to look for as a result

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if anyone else uses this instead of commerical hairspray??

I used to use this to hold up my mohawk.

Hmmm, sugar water can grow all kinds of beasties. Even if the water was boiled, without a preservative I would keep it in the fridge between uses then toss it after a week.

Does this make your hair sticky at all? My experience with other sugar solutions (like when I'm cooking) is that when they "dry" they are really sticky.
