The poll on the Poll and Projects board prompted me to go to my bathroom and count to see exactly how many pairs of chopsticks I have... I about died  and thought "This is to funny I'll have to post this on the Mane Board too."

I have 17 pairs of chopstick!!!!! 4 pair are plastic the other 13 pair are wooden.

I buy them at a local orential store. I just walk in & ask to see their decorative chopsticks (don't tell them what you want to use them for!!!) They reach behind the counter & pull out a large box. Hair stick Heaven!!!

AND they usually cost about $2 - $3 a pair & come in a resealable package. I guess they are so cheap, because in reality they are eating utensils.

I was just thinking yesterday "I need to stop by there & see what they have." BUT after my count tonight I don't think i need to go!!!

Ooh cool! I love using chopsticks as hairsticks. I found some beautiful rosewood ones with inlays that I just love at an antique/knick-knack shop. My mom has some silver ones that I may have to borrow next time I visit.

I used to live in Louisville, I wish I had known about that Asian store then!

Uh oh, we've got 2 asian food stores here. I will be stopping to check them out for "chop sticks" tomorrow. I've never been in either one. More adventures in hair toys!

:no :no STOP :no :no
This is the chopstick police
You are now under arrest for
possession of excessive chopsticks.

Put your hands up,
step away from the chopsticks
and move to the other room
while I ... um... confiscate..
yeah, that's the word...
confiscate the excess.

:no :no :no :no

ROFLMAO at Snippet . . . slick move, girl! hahahahaahaha

and you know, every time someone talks about using chopsticks (food utensils) as hair sticks I ALWAYS think of Ariel in the Disney (name escapes my memory at the moment - wine and bunko will do that to a woman) . . . anyway, she uses a DINGLEHOPPER to comb her hair . . . it is a fork! hahahaahahahahahahaahaha

I ALWAYS bust a gut laughing at that scene! hahahaahahahahaa

lol

BUT that's why I mention; if you go to an Oriental store and ask for their decorative chopsticks DON"T tell them what you want to use them for. Let them assume you are going to use them as they were ment to be used.

I had a friend (has beautiful knee length blond hair) who went in and as she was looking at the chopsticks she mentioned to one of the store workers that she was going to use them as hair sticks. The store owners were aghast  and started laughing that she would use a food utinsil in her hair! ha ha She's careful not to mention it now. ha

I also have many pair of chop sticks that I use for my hair. We have World Market shops here which specialize in importing food, furniture and nick/nacks from around the world. They have a wonderful selection of sticks all for under $3 per pair. I have also picked up swizzle sticks for my hair there. The last time I purchased some swizzle sticks, they had a Christmas/Holiday theme. The checkout girl made some comment to a coworker that she did not think anyone ever used swizzle sticks anymore. The coworker started laughing and made a comment about not thinking I was going to use them in a drink and pointed to my head. I had a chopstick, pencil and snowman swizzle stick in my bun. The lady behind me started laughing as well and asked if my bun just attracted strange objects or did I put them there intentionally!

.....in the indoor market here......could be a good wooden stick source too.

I have two pairs of hairsticks, and two odd ones, one is part of a pair, the other one broke...and one is a beautiful handmade one that LisaJaney sent me. I wear that on very special occasions.

Just packing up a hair essentials kit for the weekend, I put in hairsticks for the first time. I have a pretty plastic pair with blue flowers on. Claires for hardly any pennies. (Cheap and cheerful, that's me)

I will have to check out our chinese store - if it's still here. Hmmmmmm uh-oh, more hair toys!!

Don't be embarrassed. We are all a little hair obsessed here. Enjoy your chop sticks and have fun doing your hair up with them.
