I grew up in tobacco farming country, and all our neighbors were farmers. Auntie Opal (not my real aunt) said they used to use vinegar on their skin to prevent sunburn.

Did I hear right? Has anyone else heard this? Does it even work? I was very young when I heard this, so maybe I have it wrong

I haven't heard of that, but that's not saying much.

I have used vinegar as an after sun spritz. It tends to take away the burning sensation. Also good for bug bites.

I've used diluted apple cider vinegar as a sunburn remedy, but have never heard of it being used to prevent sunburn. I don't see how vinegar would work as a barrier to UV rays.

This is realllyyy strange because vinegar contains AHA’s witch make the skin more sensible to sun so it gets sunburned faster. :?
