No longer for sale as of 9/30/06!

I just received this Baerreis “Shortie”, hand-carved, cocobolo hairfork a couple days ago. It is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately – and amazingly – it is also too short for my rapidly growing bun!

This slightly curved, two-prong hair fork is 4” long and almost 1” wide at the top. The wood is richly grained and polished to a glass-like smoothness.

I am interested in selling to someone with a positive LHC trader rating and a PayPal account who lives in the Continental U.S. (Dear Canadian friends: I’m sorry, I simply can’t deal with the customs paperwork.)

I paid $25.00 plus $3.00 shipping for this hairfork, and would like to sell it for the same.

If you have a quality hairtoy that would work for my hair at its current length, I might consider a trade.

If you’re interested, please PM me.

This brand-new Baerreis “Shortie" cocobolo hairfork is still available to a good home.

I paid $25.00 plus $3.00 shipping, and just received it this week. In order to "sweeten the pot," I am dropping the shipping charges to $0. That's right. Shipping on this brand-new, Baerreis "Shortie" cocobolo hairfork is now FREE within the Continental U.S.

If you're interested, please PM me. (Come on...you know you want it...) :)

This brand-new, 4" Baerreis “Shortie" cocobolo hairfork is still available.

I'm in the market for a quality (Graydog, Quattro, etc.), 5" single hairstick, preferrably in a dark wood such as cocobolo. I would be willing to make an even trade for such an item.

Of course, $$$ is always good. If you'd like to purchase this hairfork, I am dropping the price to $20.00 plus $2.00 shipping (includes delivery confirmation) within the
Continental U.S. If you've got a positive LHC trader rating and a PayPal account, then your $$$ is good with me.

If you're interested, please PM me. (Come on...you know you want it...) :)

Arrrgh, I dug through the rest of the hairsticks my DH made last year and didn't sell, but there's not one there that quite fits your bill. There are a few in cocobolo and macassar ebony, but they're too short, and most of the other stuff is too long. You're looking for 5" of usable length, right?

Nope, 5" total length. :)

So, you need a 'useable length' of what, 4 1/2 inches??

Delila, that's a good question. I think it depends on the hairtoy. With hairsticks, 5" seems to be the perfect length for me right now. I have no idea what the "usable length" of that is.

I just got a new hairfork from Ron Quattro, and here's what the copy said: "Overall length is 4-3/4", prong set or gap is 3/4", and functional or working length is up to 3.5"." This hairtoy is shorter than my 5" hairsticks (which I leave sticking out in even amounts on both sides of my bun), but it looks longer in my bun.

So, how much "functional length" do I need? I don't have a clue!:silly:

Measure a hairstick or two, and the length of the actual stick part (not counting the topper or decoration) is the functional length.

That might help someone find out what you're looking for. :flowers:

It appears that the functional length of most of my hairsticks is 4 1/4". (Such as Mei Fa's, etc.)

What I still don't understand is how my new hairfork can have a shorter total length and still look longer poking out of my bun? And Ron Q. says it has a functional length of 3 1/2".:silly:

If the fork is still available, would you consider shipping to Germany? If so, how much would that be?

Calista, thank you for your interest. I'm sorry, but even the logistics of shipping to our neighbors to the north (Canada) are too much for me: cost, customs, etc. I just looked at the USPS site for international shipping and my head nearly exploded. So, no, I'm going to have to stick to saying that I am only willing to ship within the Continental U.S.

This hairfork is still available to a good, domestic home. :)

Too bad. But I mailed Martha Baerreis and asked about international shipping, and she said she could ship to Germany for $5 (Global Priority mail), so I just ordered a fork... Neoma, you evil enabler!

This little fork should be able to fit into any padded envelope and shipped as letter post for less than $1. :) Of course I understand you want to pack it well. Small global priority envelope costs $4.25 to Canada and around 5 international I think. Don't trust those web site calculations. They give you the parcel rate. I just bought a Ficcare from Ebay and the seller spent $1.15 on postage. (Charged me $9 shipping)

Alas, I don't.

sapphire-o, I agree, I "should" be able to ship to Canada for next to nothing. However, my experience with the Post Office and shipping to our northern neighbors has not been pleasant. I've had two LHC trades that ended up costing me a small fortune, because the Post Office charged me an arm and a leg to ship hairsticks. Then there were the customs forms.

My life is incredibly stressful, and if not shipping Internationally (including to Canada) will make it even a tiny bit simpler, then that's what I've got to do. I can't control the big things (like my job), but I can control the little ones. (Sometimes.):silly:

Today I received the Baerreis fork I ordered. The communication with Martha was great, the shipping fast, packaging secure, and last but not least the fork is nothing short of fabulous! It is silky smooth, beautifully carved, and it holds my APL layered hair very securely. IMO everybody needs a Baerreis fork! :cloud9:

I'm glad you got your Baerreis fork and that you're enjoying it so much, Calista!

For the record, the one on this thread is still available to a good home.
