I bought some henna this morning and I was wondering what to mix it with. Conditioner, oil/water or just water? I bought the Logona dye, and the golden blonde one - I don't want so much colour but rather the henna effects.

Edited because I'm a bad typer.

Hi Mary Kelly,

Logona has so many goodies already mixed in (including Jojoba oil) that all you really have to mix it with is boiling water. I never add anything else.

Thank you, Miss Madeleine, then I'll use just water and let you know about the results tomorrow! Thanks!

Hi again

Let us know how you get on with the henna. I've got blonde hair and have been wanting to try henna but not sure how my blonde hair would cope with it or how fiddly it would be to actually do it. I'm a bit lazy/impatient really :DD

Welcome! I haven't posted with you before!

I hope you will enjoy the boards here!

I agree totally with Madeleine, just the boiling water. For more golden effects you can add some chamomile tea bags to the boiling water first, then use the chamomile water, but... you already have that in the henna as is. SO... you can always try it with plain water, then the next time, if you want more golden tones, add the chamomile.

I hope your henna treatment goes well!

Ok, so I have applied the henna to my hair - it's actually just busy drying (my hair, that is, not the henna :D ). It wasn't much of a mess, only it felt quite heavy on my head since it has to sit there for one hour at least. My hair feels great so far, but I'll have to wait until it's completely dry until I can really see and feel a difference. There won't be a difference in colour, I think, because my hair is reddish already and I used the golden blonde henna. Talk to you tomorrow!

OOOO!!! I can't wait to hear how it turned out! Did you do a strand test first?

There might be a color change. Probably more of an "enhancement" of your natural color- more glittery golden.

How'd it go, how'd it go?? :D

It turned out great! The colour hasn't changed at all - but my hair is unimaginably ruly (as opposed to unruly... ) and sooo shiny!!! So SHINY! I didn't do a strand test because I knew the colour wouldn't be able to cover up my natural hair colour - because I'm a rather dark strawberry blonde, redder in the winter than in the summer, strangely enough. But anyhow, I recommend you to give henna a try! If you don't want to change your colour, it's still good enough to give you a thorough conditioning treatment (my ends are so great looking and well moisturized) that is said to last for four weeks the first time and longer the more often you use it. More on that later! (When I know if that's true or not... :P ) Luv, Mary

I'm glad it turned out so well for you. Maybe if you tried a redder color it could maintain your natural color throughout the year. I think others use henna for just this purpose.

I like using it too, it does feel good after the application. I'm dark dark brown so the color doesn't show on me either.
