View Full Version : Noticed classmate had cut her hair...
DweamGoiL February 27th, 2003, 05:23 AM There was one other girl in my classes that has longer hair than I do. She had the most beautiful tailbone length brunette hair and she usually wore it down. She was an inspiration to me since her hair looked like what I aspired mine to.
So, last night, I went to class and saw that not only had she cut her hair to BS length, but had dyed it an unnatural blonde-like orangey color, which is not only unflattering given her complexion, but the trying to keep the roots that awful color all the time will be a total nuissance. I really do hope she is happy with her choice and did not lose her lovely mane just to succumb to peer pressure.
Arcticpixie February 27th, 2003, 12:10 PM Sorry to hear you lost an inspiration. I'll bet she ends up looking at you and thinking wistfully to herself how she used to have beautiful hair too. But then again, we don't know what exactly happened. She may of had an accident of some kind and ended up having to cut off damage. As for the color, well I don't know. Maybe somebody pulled a prank on her. But then again maybe she chose it. I'm like you, if she did chose it I hope it's what she really wanted and she likes it. Maybe now you can inspire her to want beautiful hair again.
Princess Buttercup February 27th, 2003, 05:23 PM When someone does something that drastic that didn't turn out well, it makes me wonder if she's not feeling depressed. I know whenever I feel blah I always think that a snappy new cut or color will make me feel better. Around 10 years ago, I cut my waist-length hair to neck length thinking a short cut would make me feel cuter and more stylish. I regretted it within a week, as soon as the newness wore off.
I hope your classmate isn't having regrets by now.
GoldLady February 27th, 2003, 05:38 PM I'm always surprised at the sense of loss I feel when someone with gorgeous hair cuts it (although, nothing wrong with short hair, I just miss the nice, long stuff that is so hard to get!) or tears it up in some way. Even if I don't know them very well.
I guess now that I really know all the work that goes into growing long, healthy hair, its like seeing someone break a work of art. It just saddens ya. :(

I know everybody can't keep their beautiful, long hair to please us... but why not...?? :( *kidding*
My daughter had the most beautiful waist-length hair. All one length, naturally brown, but it was golden from spending all of her summers at the beach. It was in excellent condition... but she went through that teenage phase of needing a drastic change, and she cut it to her shoulders... AND dyed it black. :( I almost cried. It was really difficult for me to be supportive because it was so pretty... but I tried.
I understand that we all have the need to express ourselves as individuals... but it's interesting that after a few years of short, dyed hair, she now wants to grow it long again.
I think deep down inside, either you're a true longhair or you aren't. It takes A LOT of dedication to do what we're doing. :)

willowcandra February 28th, 2003, 04:12 AM at least you now have the longest hair in the class.
but it is always sad when someone chops.
Anne March 1st, 2003, 12:44 PM Oh that's AWFUL!!
her hair sounded lovely the way you described it. :(
Hopefully she can see she made a mistake, at least with the hair color and a plus that she only cut to bs and no shorter.
Tragedy!
smythe_michael March 1st, 2003, 01:20 PM That's terrible..........
I feel so sick inside when someone I know or just see a lot get a big haircut.
good to see that mirror shine picture again....btw...just place a monoi order!
Carolyn March 1st, 2003, 02:09 PM I feel that same sense of loss too. I know it's not my hair and I shouldn't care but I always feel like I've been sucker punched when I see a drastic haircut. When that happens you can only hope she is happy with her decision. SOme people like change for change's sake.
