Surely you weren't thinking about another 'rack', were you??? ;)

My FIL made this for me. It's GREAT!! Now I can do squats alone and without having to clean and press the weight up and over my head. When I used it the other day, I was able to work up to 2 sets of 100 pounds! Yippee!!

You did that on purpose!!!!!!! ROTFL!!!!

Cool rack. ;) You're much stronger than I am. The thought of me flinging (and it would resemble flinging at this point) 100 pounds over my head gives me the shivers. If I didn't break myself, I'd break something or someone else! LOL

Gosh, I miss lifting weights. Squats are my favorites.

Sweet! Clever title, too.

(Say, can you do pull-ups on that thing?)

What are you......smoking crack?????????? I could never clean and press 100 pounds over my head! My limit is about 65 pounds, so doing squats was fruitless as I'd be doing 50 squats with 65 pounds. Can you say............boring?? Hahahahaha!!

Ohhh.....Jen! *sigh* I wish I wish I wish. 16 years and 30 pounds ago, I still needed assistance doing pull ups. :x My upper body strength (or lack thereof) is sad. My best bench is only 70-something pounds. :no Pitiful.

Well, you're still stronger than me.

I can bench 45 pounds. :D That's usually just the bar, for anyone who doesn't know.

Yeppers.......an Olympic bar. That's why I use a 15 pound standard bar -- I can put (2) 25 pound plates on each end and it looks like I'm lifting a TON of weight. LOLOLOL ;)

Ohhhh......that's just wrong! What I meant was (2) plates, one on each end. Eek!

I wish I could do pull-ups. I'm still at the hanging point. Straight arm. I had set a deadline of the end of the year to do one pull-up. I'm afraid it ain't gonna happen.

too cool, hollie :D

are they making sure that you exercise :P just kidding. it was very sweet of your FIL to make this for you.

 i didnt know the bench press alone was 45 lbs. no wonder the max i can do is, 2 sets of 6-7 reps and that too, with sore muscles at the end of the day. maybe i'll use the 15 lbs standard bar instead and add 2 and half pounds on each side. thanks! :D

Hahaha..........actually, I asked him if he'd make me a rack. He rebuilds old cars, so he's got the shop for it and the stuff needed to work with metal. He said it'd be no problem. It only cost $51 for the material! :D

I must confess, I did for a second think you meant the other type of rack! And then I had to click on the thread just to make sure!! I was very relieved to see a metal, inanimate object.

I've got to show DH this "rack" (you little devil :D ). He wants to use weights, but doesn't want to shell out the $. Cool, cool.

I could probably use some iron-pumping myself.

Hi, Scarlett! Ya know, if you can afford it, and you have the room, BodySolid makes some very nice equipment, and it's not too steeply priced. You might want to find a local fitness place to see what they carry as far as BodySolid equipment.

For the record, Smith machines are unsafe for the joints.

Negative, it does not. The Smith machine locks your body into an unnatural position for squatting which can be harmful to the knees and back. I can get some info for you, but right now I'm about to go out the door.
