View Full Version : Another Mooncup GO?
CurlyCare June 18th, 2006, 12:34 PM Oh Snowy? Are you there? Weren't you the one who headed up the previous Mooncup GOs? Can we do it again?
My Diva is missing, just when I need it the most. And if I can't find it, I'm going to need a replacement ASAP. I can't go back!
Who's with me? Anyone else need a new menstral cup? Anyone willing to head up the GO, or have the details for me (such as the wholesale price and shipping to US) in case I end up doing my own GO?
Doctorblue June 18th, 2006, 12:42 PM She tried to get a mooncup order started up a while back. Mooncup was trying to get FDA approval, or US patent or something like that. Because of that, they weren't offering mass ordering for group orders.
enitsirk June 18th, 2006, 12:44 PM Just chiming in to say 'no I wasn't kidding' and 'yes I'm completely in if we do a mooncup GO'
Snowymoon June 18th, 2006, 02:24 PM If I recall, there was another gal who was interested in heading one up, and the FDA thing is what she learned.
I am going to be busy the next few days, but after that I could e-mail them to see if they would allow me to do it again. I would be more than happy to host another one.
teela1978 June 18th, 2006, 02:38 PM I was doing some stuff on the fda site last semester and noticed that mooncup was a listed approved product (along with the diva and keeper) so I'd imagine they're done with that.
dancingmegs June 18th, 2006, 03:02 PM I contacted Mooncup a couple months back, and they aren't doing volume orders in the US right now, awaiting FDA approval. I'm pretty sure I asked to be contacted when this changes, but I can't remember now.
If and when this happens, I'm totally in! I would be willing to run the order, depending on what time of year it is (school schedule).
Tsuyu June 18th, 2006, 03:19 PM If there is a GO I think I will be joining too. =)
CurlyCare June 19th, 2006, 03:20 AM I found my Diva!!! Oh, I'm so happy! I'd still like a Mooncup, but odds are good that DH will frown on any GO participation prior to my first paycheck in Sept. If I *needed* it because the Diva had stayed missing, he wouldn't expect me to wait all summer to replace it. But, with a working cup in, ahem, hand, so to speak, I'll probably be asked to wait.
birdiefu June 19th, 2006, 11:53 AM I gave in an ordered one a few days ago :blushing:. Maybe if I really like it I might go in to get a backup.
Snowymoon June 19th, 2006, 03:33 PM DancingMegs! That is right, it was you. If you want to run the order, by all means. ;) I personally don't need another cup right now, and daughter is not ready for one yet. However, I would be more than happy to host an order, if possible, and if I am needed.
I hope they did/do get FDA approval. That would be awesome for all of us. :rockerdud

enitsirk June 28th, 2006, 04:38 AM *pokes thread and brings it back to life*
You know I just wandered over to the Mooncup site again and they seem to say here (http://www.mooncup.co.uk/menstrual_cup_wholesale_price_info.html) that for wholesale the minimum order is 12.
I think we can scrounge up 12 people that need/want a mooncup, don't you?
*whispers to Snowymoon about doing a GO*
Do you guys know/remember what the wholesale price is for them?
cichlid June 28th, 2006, 04:48 AM I am fairly interested in this GO. But I do not have paypal...just checks and debit and plain cash. ^^;
ruirui June 28th, 2006, 05:45 AM I'm pretty interested in joining this GO too
Tsuyu June 28th, 2006, 06:24 AM I did a brief count I think we have 6 now including those who are on the fence. Hmmm 6 more people!
cichlid June 28th, 2006, 09:02 AM I did a brief count I think we have 6 now including those who are on the fence. Hmmm 6 more people!
You can count me completely in if my forms of payment are okay! :razz: I can also do money order which might be safer than a check. I don't know...I just know I can't do paypal since I do not have it...unless you can transfer money from a checking account through a debit card. Hmmmmmm...I dunno...I am completely clueless about paypal and it seems like you guys use it a lot. ^^;
Adyta June 28th, 2006, 09:47 AM I'd be interested. How much would it be?
Snowymoon June 28th, 2006, 09:54 AM The prices may have changed, but we can hope they have not. Yes, there was a minimum amount needed to do the order, but there was no problem getting that many, and I doubt there would be in any future orders, either.
Here are links to the 2 old group orders I held in the past, and they both show what costs were including shipping. Hope that helps.
Original Group Order. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=20131&highlight=mooncup)
Mooncup Order II. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=21929&highlight=mooncup)
Snowymoon June 28th, 2006, 10:00 AM Oh! I should mention that the prices Mooncup gives you and what you are charged is in Pounds Sterling. To figure American Dollar cost, you have to use a converter. There are lots of them on the net. When you use a credit card to make the purchase with Mooncup (they don't accept PayPal for group orders, if I recall correctly), the conversion happens automatically, but to figure out what the costs will be, you have to do the conversion yourself. Fluctuations in the dollar versus Pounds Sterling values may affect price (not sure about what it is now or how much this fluctuates). I converted the prices before posting them in the group order threads. Just wanted to throw that out there in case someone else wanted to head up any future orders with Mooncup. :)
Unnamed June 28th, 2006, 10:34 AM I might be interested. I've thought about one a little (enough to narrow it down to the mooncup), but I don't think I can pay 'em easily, and hadn't seen talk about a GO until recently so...still a bit unsure but definitely been thinking about getting one/figured I wouldn't have the chance so never really decided.
But, yeah, figured I'd mention there's another that's tempted.
Tsuyu June 28th, 2006, 06:24 PM I would say max is 30 including shipping. =) hehee But I may be wrong, can a better mathematician do this again later on =)
cichlid June 29th, 2006, 03:42 PM I would say max is 30 including shipping. =) hehee But I may be wrong, can a better mathematician do this again later on =)
So we'd all save $5!
Come on people...only 4 more!
goldilocks July 3rd, 2006, 06:20 PM I'm interested but I have a question. What is the difference between a Mooncup and a Divacup? Just wondereing. TIA
cichlid July 3rd, 2006, 06:40 PM Not much of a difference...the diva is longer but narrower, while the mooncup is wider and shorter. I've gotten the impression that a lot of LHC members perfer the mooncup over the diva because it is more comfortable. Oh, also I believe the mooncup is squishier.
Also...check out these photos. I came across them the other day and found them to be great for comparing all the brands and sizes! http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/473758.html#cutid1
Tsuyu July 4th, 2006, 02:39 AM cichlid, I like your choice of words... 'squishier'
Thanks for the link too. Checking them out.
Ama July 4th, 2006, 08:18 AM Here is another site (http://www.busybusymomma.com/MC.html) that shows the different cups...
Pegasus Marsters July 4th, 2006, 08:44 AM If I can get it from this order for less than £20 including shipping, I may be interested :flowers:
bizarrogirl July 4th, 2006, 09:11 AM It depends on when payment would be due, but I'd really like to try one, see how it compares to the Diva.
kjara July 4th, 2006, 09:47 AM I might be interested if I get to spend less than the 27/28 euros (shipping included) I would spend buying it from their site :flower: I guess it depends on how much shipping it from US to Italy would be :ponder:
Medvssa July 4th, 2006, 10:27 AM It looks like it would be cheaper than ordering from them directly to Europe, if so I am interested. I have a Diva size 2 and I wanted to try a smaller one (and a backup sounds like a good idea, losing it or getting it broken or something sounds a bit frightening, haha), trying another brand would be even nicer :)
Edit: oh and thanks for the link cichlid, that was very helpful.
cichlid July 4th, 2006, 10:29 AM Looks like we have enough people to start this mooncup GO. :hollie: Well, as long as we can get a good price on them all.
Arianwen July 4th, 2006, 11:26 AM I am interested :).
goldilocks July 4th, 2006, 11:27 AM thanks for the links girls. that was very helpful. I guess I would need a size A (since I have had a few kids LOL) if the price is good LMK thanks
enitsirk July 4th, 2006, 02:16 PM *waits for someone to start the GO since it looks like we have enough people *
I just reallllly want a mooncup...looks better (to me) than diva or keeper.
*waits impatiently*

Yeah I know...I sort of want to get this over with before August 10th. Only because I am going out of town then. Never participated in a GO so...I hope it goes quickly!
Snowymoon, where are you? You're going to do it aren't you? Please...pretty please with a cherry on top.
phedre July 5th, 2006, 12:46 PM Damn. I JUST (yesterday) bought a diva cup at a local health food shop here! I'd been using the Instead cups, which I really liked, but thought it was time to switch to something a little more permanent.
I'm researching now to find out what the difference is. So far, people say there isn't once it's inserted, but who knows? I took mine out of the package and folded it and stuff to get a feel for it, and it certainly feels squishy enough.
I have the Diva size 2, as I'm over 30, but have never had kids. Hopefully it will work well!
phedre July 5th, 2006, 12:53 PM Google turned up this helpful article:
http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/33356.html
I'll give my diva a shot for a few months and see how it goes. I might end up ordering a keeper and/or a mooncup at some point down the road though!
Snowymoon July 5th, 2006, 02:19 PM Hey! I am here. I have been really busy lately helping my daughter get our new backyard pool up and running. I am worn out!
If you can be patient with me, I may be able to handle running this, but if there is anyone else interested in giving it a shot, by all means step forward (I am more than willing to help). If no one else is interested in running the order, I will do it, but you all will have to give me about a week to get settled down with the pool stuff first. I should be okay after that. I would like to get it going ASAP if I am going to run it because I have a family vacation in August. If I recall, the total time of the group order was about a month from start to last cup received.
Sound okay? :)
julya July 5th, 2006, 08:42 PM Damn. I JUST (yesterday) bought a diva cup at a local health food shop here!
Great minds must think alike. I just picked up a diva cup yesterday. I got the size two as well, but I'm thinking now that maybe I should have gotten the smaller one as this one is really hard for me to get to pop open once I've inserted it. Maybe I need to just give it a few more trys though.
If I can't get my diva cup working I think I'd be interested in trying the Mooncup.
Snowymoon July 6th, 2006, 01:25 AM I did some thinking on this, and I think I will be able to do it.
I will e-mail Mooncup to see if another order is even possible. I will reply here as soon as I hear back. If it is a go, I will start a thread and start the order.
Lets keep our fingers crossed that Mooncup will allow it. Also, lets hope the prices are the same. I will post in this thead as soon as I hear anything either way. I will be pressed to finish this order and have all cups received before the middle of August, but I think we can do it if we start next week.
Snowymoon July 6th, 2006, 03:09 AM I e-mailed Mooncup. I will let you all know when I hear back from them.
kjara July 6th, 2006, 08:24 AM Thank you so much Snowymoon :flower:
Snowymoon July 6th, 2006, 10:07 AM Well, I have bad news and good news.
Good News: I heard back from Mooncup already! They sure are quick (good customer service, that is for sure). They are indeed in the process of obtaining FDA approval, and they are not done with that. They will let me know when they get the approval. This means, after they get it, the Mooncup will be available for sale in the USA (hopefully!).
Bad News: This, of course, means that they are not accepting any US wholesale orders at this time. Therefore, I cannot run the group order at this time. :wail: Once the approval goes through, I could, but who knows when that will be?
The Possible Solution: What would work right now is if someone in the UK could head it up. Shipping from the UK to the US should not be that much to make the order not worth it; there still should be substantial savings.
enitsirk July 6th, 2006, 10:12 AM Well.
If someone from the UK will do it and there is still savings I'd still participate (and it might be quicker that way since it'd be shipping from UK to UK to US..and maybe the big order of 'em would get to the UK faster? Okay it'd probably be the same amount of time or longer =p)
If no one is willing or there is no savings I'd probably just buy one on my own. Thanks for looking into it for us, Snowymoon!
CurlyCare July 6th, 2006, 01:46 PM What if someone in Canada ran the GO? I assume the FDA restriction wouldn't apply, and I think that shipping across the border is usually OK from Canada to US. Of course, we'd have to convert all currency twice.
sapphire-o July 6th, 2006, 03:59 PM Canada has expensive shipping rate for small items, though. Something like the mooncup can easily cost $6 to ship to US. And that's actually cheaper than shipping it within Canada.
Pegasus Marsters July 7th, 2006, 06:06 AM How about if Snowy ordered it from the US, got it sent to one of us in the UK and the person in the UK sent them on, if someone in the UK isn't willing to totally head up the order.
enitsirk July 7th, 2006, 11:49 AM How about if Snowy ordered it from the US, got it sent to one of us in the UK and the person in the UK sent them on, if someone in the UK isn't willing to totally head up the order.
How does that help?? :silly:
Oooooh..like if Snowy acted like she lived in UK and just gave the other person's address so Snowy is the one actually dealing with Mooncup?? I get it
coppercurls July 7th, 2006, 02:48 PM I would like to get in too when & if a group order takes place.
Pegasus Marsters July 7th, 2006, 04:02 PM How does that help?? :silly:
Oooooh..like if Snowy acted like she lived in UK and just gave the other person's address so Snowy is the one actually dealing with Mooncup?? I get it
Yes dear, that's what I meant. *pats enit on the head*
Snowymoon July 7th, 2006, 04:12 PM Mooncup knows me. They would know the order was being placed from the US because it would be paid for from a US credit card company. That would not work. Besides, I would not want to be the one who messes up their FDA approval. It really would have to be run by someone in the UK. Now, if someone in the UK ran the order and made the purchase, the lot of cups could be sent to me, and I could distribute them from there. That might save some on the overseas shipping part.
rainkitty July 12th, 2006, 10:12 AM I'm interested in this GO if/when it happens. I haven't done a GO before, so just tell me what to do when the time comes!
Cheers,
RK
rrspangle July 12th, 2006, 07:34 PM Hey! I'm interested in this too but I am confused. Is it just group orders they can't do? Or is it individual orders as well? If all else fails, I was just looking them up on ebay and found ebay stores that sell them and give discounts for shipping. The savings probably wouldn't be much that way though, would they?
Lina July 17th, 2006, 08:47 AM If this ever takes off, I am interested! I want a spare (just in case I loose mine). Please email/PM me if I don't poke my head in the group order.
ElenTikvah July 19th, 2006, 06:30 PM I am definately interested, especially if this starts in September, maybe August if I start my new job on the 1st. I'll try to watch this thread, but if someone heads this up from the UK, could y'all consider starting a new thread for the GO?
~Tik
Steve<3 July 28th, 2006, 01:37 AM I'd be interested in ordering too, although I'm not sure if shipping to Australia would make it more expensive. I won't commit at this stage, but I'll (try to remember to) follow this thread :) I have been intrigued by the idea of cups for a while.
goldilocks August 2nd, 2006, 04:44 PM Is there any update on this? Just checking. TIA
SaiidiDesign August 17th, 2006, 02:50 PM I'm also interested, and I've been trying to check the thread regularly, but I'll also keep my eyes open for a new one...
Teacherbear October 1st, 2006, 04:30 PM Bumpity-Bump
Did that group order ever take place? I'm interested . . .
ruirui October 1st, 2006, 10:02 PM TB, unfortunately, it didn't take place at all. Still hoping though...
Cascade October 2nd, 2006, 09:27 AM I've been hoping too, but it looks like I'll have to order a Diva. I don't have too many more cycloes left in that box of pads in the cupboard.
cichlid October 4th, 2006, 03:59 PM I've been hoping too, but it looks like I'll have to order a Diva. I don't have too many more cycloes left in that box of pads in the cupboard.
I dunno, I was interested but then I just went ahead and got a Diva. I really like my Diva a lot. Has only leaked on me once and that was because I inserted it a different way (I usually do the whole punch down method).
Sanguine October 7th, 2006, 01:42 PM If this ever happens, I really want in, I loved my mooncup.
Apparently, when we had houseguests a while back one of them lifted it. Can't imagine that but I have looked EVERYWHERE.
I also found some of my LUSH stuff bagged up in a weird place, guess they forgot to pack that. Needless to say, but they won't be back.
arwyn80 November 7th, 2006, 12:45 PM *bump*
I don't want to be a pest. I was just wondering if there is still an interest in doing one of these?
lilmisspicky126 November 9th, 2006, 07:51 PM I'm also bumping..wondering about a GO, if not, I think I shall be ordering one shortly.
Ebonygurl00 November 10th, 2006, 03:02 AM Hmm, I'm interested!
Athena's Owl November 10th, 2006, 03:19 AM I am also interested. a group order would be really good to do.
I would do it but I don't have a credit card to handle the transaction. I can paypal like a fool, though.
mom2twins November 10th, 2006, 06:07 PM Would anyone be willing to head up a DivaCup GO, since we can't have a Mooncup one until they get their FDA approval? I think I read that Snowy had mentioned that Diva would do a discount for group orders as well...don't know the other particulars, though. I know I am definitely ready to try one! (And I'm in Athena's shoes...no credit card! Sorry - I would definitely offer to handle all of this otherwise)
Wikky Grrl November 10th, 2006, 09:56 PM I'm interested too but can't head an order at this point.
Unnamed November 11th, 2006, 08:35 AM I'm still interested. I'd do a DivaCup GO, but the one CC I have it looks like they don't accept. I can't get myself a Mooncup for the same reason--don't accept my CC.
And I think it's just those in the US that wouldn't be able to head up a Mooncup GO, so we either need to wait for FDA approval or for a non-USer to head up the order. I did find a Finnish site selling the Mooncup that I could order from (minor tangent: they also have the DivaCup and Lunette, no clue if we'd get a discount on a group order, but I'd lean toward 'no' (anyone want me to ask?)), but have been still hoping to get in on a discounted go.
arwyn80 November 11th, 2006, 02:26 PM I sent an inquiry along to Diva, just to see what they will say. Once I hear back, I could start a thread to see if there would be enough interest in a Diva GO.
Doctorblue November 12th, 2006, 02:56 AM I sent an email to mooncup USA. I'll see what they have to say about discounts.
Snowymoon November 12th, 2006, 03:56 AM From what I understand, Mooncup is not in the USA as of yet. Be aware that the Moon Cup (http://www.keeper.com/) (made by Keeper) is not a Mooncup (http://www.mooncup.co.uk/) (made in the UK); they are not the same thing. There was another thread on this earlier somewhere around these parts. The Moon Cup may be a good cup, but I will never try one due to how they are using the name "Moon Cup" that could possibly mislead some to think it is, in fact, a Mooncup, but that is just my personal choice.
ETA: When I did the first Mooncup group order, DivaCup did offer a discount for a group order. It may be a viable alternative; just throwing it out there. :)
Teacherbear November 12th, 2006, 07:19 AM I emailed the Mooncup people after the last time I bumped this thread. I never reported back. I'm sorry.
We can order in bulk, but there will not be a discounted price. So I'm trying to decide if I want to order one anyway.
Doctorblue November 12th, 2006, 08:08 AM Ahh, didn't realize they were different Snowy. I thought Keeper was just the distributing company for the US version of the Mooncup. Didn't realize they were trying to mislead people.
