View Full Version : Emu oil
pgw February 18th, 2003, 10:23 AM Just wondering if anyone is still using emu oil on their face and if they are still loving it. I can't remember all of those discussing this, but I believe Skeeter was one.
Any reviews welcome!
Jessica February 20th, 2003, 02:50 AM I just ordered emu oil and I'm waiting to get it :) I think I'm going to use it to my skin (face) and scalp. I hope it works. I'm from Finland and I think we have only one place that grows emus (at least I haven't find more).
Do you really think it works the way they advertise it, anti-aging etc..?

I don't think it works as well as they advertise it, but it definitely does have somethin' special to it. I made a new face cream with it and have found my new obsession. LOL
Anyway, just piping up to say, "I love it!!!" ;) LOL
gabiwags February 22nd, 2003, 04:42 PM Oh nothing works as well as "they" say :no - but I'll take the fraction that we do get.
I love Emu oil - especially how it sinks right in and makes everything else do the same...:DD...g
Anne February 22nd, 2003, 11:07 PM Yep! I use it around my eyes every day and it works great! I've been using it for about 2 or more months now.
Hollie February 23rd, 2003, 04:13 AM Can you get emu oil at your local health food store, or do you have to order it online??
Anne February 23rd, 2003, 01:40 PM I got mine at my health food store.

How YOU doin'??? ;) :D 8)
pgw February 24th, 2003, 07:30 AM Thanks everyone for your replies. I know there was a huge discussion about this on the old LHL boards at one time. Several had ordered and were using it so I was wondering if they are still liking the results.
Geesh, I was just at my local health food store and didn't even think to look for emu oil. It's really small with not much of a selection so I'll probably have to wait till I'm in another part of town to visit a larger store.
LongRed March 29th, 2003, 04:11 AM I got some Emu around the time Skeeter
got some. I have since stopped using
it....for some unknown reason, it smells
like raw chicken to me!!! I KNOW< WEIRD!!!!
I liked it when I used it but I had to keep it
away from my nose! Hahhaahah! I guess
I'm hypersensitive to smells!
Elle March 29th, 2003, 08:47 PM Weren't people using Emu oil on their scalp... to stimulate growth?
LongRed March 30th, 2003, 02:20 AM Yes, Elle, we were using it there
and also on the ends of the hair
for moisturizing. :)
wtchmel March 30th, 2003, 04:35 AM Please tell me, the emu oil comes from the emu bird correct? I've always thought so, but thinking about putting bird oil/fat on my face, just grosses me out. I keep thinking of chicken grease. Is it true that it comes from the emu bird?

Hate to tell you yes, it does. But the Emu's, I am almost positive, are raised for food and this is one of the byproducts from it. If I remember right, it is the fat from their back right under the skin.
Sorry if this grossed anyone out. :(

No problem, Amazon.
Naw, actually... I keep meaning to order this stuff. Everytime I order from somewhere that carries Emu oil, I forget! :?
Has anyone noticed that it sped up their growth? What kinda results do you actually see on your hair? Shinier? Stronger? I was going to use it on my skin too, though. Does a little go a long way? It is SO expensive..!
