PRODUCT INFORMATION

What is the difference between a perfume and a perfume oil?
The following is a rough guide to the differences between the strength categories of scents --
Eau fraiche: 3% or less perfume oil.
Eau de cologne: 2 - 5% perfume oil.
Eau de toilette: 4 - 10% perfume oil.
Eau de parfum: 8 - 15% perfume oil.
Perfume: 15 - 25% perfume oil.
Perfume oil: 15 - 30% perfume oil.
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Perfume oil: 85 - 100% perfume oil.

How long will this stuff last? Will it ever go bad?
Our oil blends will last for over one year, if they are cared for correctly. Please keep all of our products in a cool, dark place to maximize their shelf life.

The oil I bought smells different on me than it does on Cindy Lou. Why?
Body chemistry, skin pH, diet, age, natural body odor – all these variables (and more) affect the body’s affinity for a scent blend.

I'm vegan. Do your perfumes contain any animal-based products?
Not a single one of our blends contain ANY animal-based products whatsoever. Our 'civet' and 'ambergris' are bouquets, and thus, are composite scents created from plant-derived perfume oils combined to best aproximate the scent. Black Phoenix is entirely cruelty-free, as our four dogs, two fish, and resident cat will attest.

All perfumes are tested on Elizabeth.

Do you offer samples?
Indeed we do. For information about ordering them, please CLICK HERE (http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/sample.html).

How will my credit card be processed?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover through the good graces of CCNow. Credit card payments show up on your statement as 'CCNow'.

http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/ccnow.gif (http://www.ccnow.com/)

Our credit card processing service, CCNow, is a member of the Better Business Bureau, and has a proven record of reliabilty, intergrity, and honesty. Both CCNow, and the gentle folks here at the Lab are dedicated to protecting your personal information and guarding against fraud.

We have been swindled too many times to throw caution to the wind. If, for whatever reason, we cannot verify your information or receive any sort of anti-fraud recommendation from ccNow regarding your order whatsoever, we WILL NOT PROCESS THE ORDER. The money will be refunded to you, period. It’s a pain, but dem’s da breaks, sweetcheeks. We’ve lost too much money and too much product to petty little thieves, and sending out curses and throwing the evil eye is starting to get boring.

Can I pay by check or money order?
Yes, you certainly may. Please keep in mind, however, that we will not process any order until the money clears.

Please make all checks and money orders out to:

BLACK PHOENIX ALCHEMY LAB

Send the payment off – along with a completed order form – to:

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
1954 Hillhurst Ave Suite 10
Los Angeles, CA 90027

We can only accept PayPal payments, checks, and money orders on emailed and snail mail'd orders. In order to pay by credit card, you must order online through our web site.

Can I pay by PayPal?
We want your money, so we’re trying to make it as easy as possible for you to fork it over. Please remit all PayPal payments to:

paypal@blackphoenixalchemylab.com

Once again, I’ll reiterate: we can only accept PayPal payments, checks, and money orders on emailed and snail mail'd orders. In order to pay by credit card, you must order online through our web site. No order will be shipped until the money has cleared successfully.

Do you sell internationally?
YES! Unfortunately, due to the limitations of our current credit card processing system we can only accept PayPal for any orders placed outside of the United States, Canada included. The following is a quick reference chart for international shipping costs covering Canada, Australasia and Western Europe, verbatim from this thread (http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=2511) in the BPAL Forums (http://www.bpal.org/):

1 item = 1 5ml
1 item = 1 10 ml
1 item = 1 set of imps (6 imps)

If it's 4 items or less, these are the flat rates:
$7 Canada
$9 most of Western Europe
$10 to Australia

If it's 5 items or more = 2 dollars extra to each flat rate.
If 10 items or more, $4 dollars extra to each flat rate.

For example:
3x5mls + 3 set of imps = 6 items = $9 dollars to Canada, $11 to UK, $12 to Australia

Another example:
5x5mls + 6 sets of imps = 11 items = $ 11 to Canada, $13 to UK, $14 to Australia

If you live outside of Canada, Western Europe, or Australasia or if you need a shipping quote above and beyond what's listed here, please email customer service (answers@blackphoenixalchemylab.com) with your order [so that we can aproximate the weight and figure out specific shipping costs] and she will get back to you as quickly as possible. All prices are in US dollars, and thus: all payments must be made using US dollars. I apologize for any inconvenience.

yes. go to the paypal site and input their email address. you have to figure out your own totals, but bah, it's easy.

I have a paypal account basically so I can buy perfume. I know, sad.

I just ordered through paypal :) The shipping is $7 US to me, but they may give you another amount based on what you're ordering... I just emailed and asked to make sure. The ordering process is fast, but they took a few days to get back to me with confirmation; in their current situation, that's not surprising.

are bpal's really that much better then the perfume you can just go buy anywhere?

They're purer, have no chemicals, and don't smell like "typical" perfumes, if that makes sense. I think what attracts me to them is that for about half the price as a small bottle of my chanel no5 parfum, I've gotten, a selection of over 40 BPALs to try. I also love supporting a small, independent business that's being done out of love for their products.

Plus they just smell gorgeous :) and you can use them for things like scented oils, air fresheners, etc. Quite versatile!

I prefer BPAL over the perfume you can just go buy anywhere because BPAL scents are evocative in a way that commercial scents usually fail at. also, since they are nothing but perfume oil you don't have an interference with the full effect of the scent the way you do with a commercial perfume cut with alcohol.

I also like being able to try out many different scents the way you can with an imp pack - if I were to make a recommendation for your first order I would suggest getting imp packs - four imp packs might be a liitle bit overwhelming, but that's the most perfume in terms of sheer variety you can get for the base shipping rate.

do you know which scents you'd like to try?

Are their "shipping update" messages through CCNow accurate? Mine said it shipped 2 weeks ago but I haven't gotten anything. (US resident) This is my first order so I don't know if I should be worried...

Delenn that just means that the Lab got your order. So far, orders take about 6 weeks to ship, maybe a bit faster if you ordered before any big update went live.. They moved the last weeks so everything slowed a bit down.

I forgot to mention that I placed my order a month before the ship date they have listed. ;)

It can't hurt to email and ask.... I wouldn't expect a fast answer though, as they're caught up in the move.

No worries :) From the user experiences of those who've ordered, they'll make it right. It'll just take some time.
