Hi guys! I have been lurking for a few months and finally decided it is time to commit and introduce myself :D I am 26 years old and I am a second year veterinary student. I spent most of high school frying my hair with repeated dying and just plain not taking care of it! I wised up and quit all that just out of high school. In college, I managed to slowly cut my hair as it grew to finally have only nice healthy hair. In the 4 years after college, I grew it out to a few inches past bra strap and it was thick, shiny and healthy.

THEN.....I got accepted to veterinary school. For some reason I thought it would be easier to take care of my hair if I cut it. Sooooo, I cut it to about shoulder length. I liked it for about 2 minutes. I wanted it long again. After our first Anatomy Practical exam I was feeling pretty stressed and got it cut again! (bad habit -- stress=rash decisions). About 2 inches below my chin. HUGE mistake. People told me it looked good, but I hated it. I decided then and there that I would grow it out. It's going pretty good so far.

I have learned tons from this board. Sorry this was long, but I just wanted to introduce myself incase I have questions later. I probably will not post too often, but I try to scan through the posts every day 8)

Ooo you sound just like me! I just delurked a few days ago. I'm in my second year of college. When I was finishing my first year in May I got really stressed from trying to study for finals and working a lot of hours so I cut to shoulder length with layers. At first it was great not having to put very much effort into my hair, but darn it, I love long hair. I don't care how time consuming it can be. So I've decided to get back on track and start my long hair journey over again. I've been following the various long hair boards for a few years now (dating back to the original longhairlovers board) and let me tell you, this board is great. Everyone is extremely friendly (duh!) and the best hair care advice I've ever received have come from these boards. Hope we get to know you well and happy posting! :D

Beautiful hair! My cousin is also a vet! She cut her waist length hair into a pixie and has been growing it back out too!

I will most certainly follow the 3 week rule if I get the itch to cut again. So far that hasn't happened. I do tend to get impatient and want it long yesterday, but I just tell myself it will get there!

As for horses, I think the things that make us like long hair probably make us like horses. Horses are living art:)

School is pretty long, hard and stressful so far this year. Everyone says if you can make it through second year you'll be OK. So far I like this year better but it's not easy!
