View Full Version : I Reached My Goal
LongBrunette April 8th, 2006, 10:49 AM Hey all I'm a long time surfer of LHC but I never got the guts to post until now. I have just reached my goal of my hair reaching my waist, 38 inches. I know it's not THAT long but I just want to thank you girls for helping me grow my hair 8 inches. Without reading all of your posts I don't think I could have done it. Thanks so much!
Marissa

LongBrunette April 8th, 2006, 11:26 AM To get it this long and look healthy it took about a year and a half to grow. It's a long process but you can't argue with the results

I'm actually 5'11" but for some reason my body is shaped so that my hair needs to be really long to reach my waist

Forever Long April 8th, 2006, 07:29 PM Congrats on reaching your goal!!! What beautiful hair!! 38" is really long to me, I hope I can achieve that length (someday...)
LongBrunette April 8th, 2006, 09:04 PM Being so tall isn't all that wonderful. It's really hard to find a boyfriend and you need to grow out your hair longer ;)
Sian100 April 8th, 2006, 11:00 PM I'm actually 5'11" but for some reason my body is shaped so that my hair needs to be really long to reach my waist
I'm 5'11 as well, and waist length on me is 33in (my goal- probably will take me over a year to reach- at BSL now). Isn't it funny how no one has exactly the same proportions?
You're a really good looking girl, Long Brunette.
Edited because my profile says my goal is 33in (waist length), not 32in as I wrote :silly: :silly: :silly:
Veronique April 8th, 2006, 11:46 PM Hi LongBrunette,

zift April 9th, 2006, 12:58 AM Being so tall isn't all that wonderful. It's really hard to find a boyfriend and you need to grow out your hair longer ;)
Hey my BF is shorter than me:D
Marissa do you know what I actually think? I think that your hair's past waist almost hips cause you have bend your head forwards a bit in the picture. But ofcourse you know it better. Your hair looks very pretty, congratulations:flowers:
Steve<3 April 9th, 2006, 01:23 AM Congratulations, your hair looks both long and gorgeous :D And welcome to the boards!
ctx April 9th, 2006, 02:36 AM Congratulations on reaching your goal.
Carolyn April 9th, 2006, 03:36 AM Your hair is gorgeous! It looks like silk. Congratulations on reaching your goal. You are so pretty. You look like you stepped out of the pages of a magazine. I'm so glad you came out of lurkdom. Join in the fun!
Jaymi April 9th, 2006, 01:55 PM Wow your hair is amazingly thick and luscious! You are sooo beautifull, you really do look like a model!! Well done on reaching your hair goal!!! Mine is almost at BSL and I'm hoping to reach waist within the next two years!!!
busnutmedic April 9th, 2006, 02:27 PM Wheee! It's so fun to reach goals. Even though I haven't reached any yet, lol. It's fun when other people reach them too.
I'm at 38 and I think I'm not sure how long it is on me; 43.5 is classic.
Bonnie

You are right it is a few inches past my waist but it's close so I just call it waist length
LongBrunette April 9th, 2006, 07:54 PM Congratulations!!!

You should tell us newbies your recipe for your success.
Great photo!!. You seem to be a beautiful person.
Glad I could be an inspiration it makes me feel so good. I do have a few pointers for you newbies.
One, Make sure your stylist isn't lying when they say you need a good 4-5 inches cut off to get rid of the splits because usually they are just scissor happy. (By the way I took a course last summer in hair care so if you want you can e-mail me at [troll's e-mail address removed by moderator] with a photo and I can tell you if and how much hair you need to get cut to get healthy hair because often times you don't even notice your hair is getting unhealthy.)
Which brings be to my second tip, DON'T BE AFRAID TO CUT YOUR HAIR!!!! Sometimes you need to if you want it to look healthy and not just long. Be careful though, you don't want to go all that often.
Then three, only buy products from the salon because if you buy it from a drugstore they water the product down to make it cheaper so that they can sell it for less.
And finally my recipe for success:
I always like to have a rutine so that I can remember when and how much of the stuff I am supposed to be using.
I also only use Paul Mitchell products because 1, they work wonders for my hair and 2, it's easier to keep track of everything if they are all one brand (I don't think it has any effect on the hair though)
The products I use are (Paul Mitchell):
1. Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo or Shampoo One
2. The Wash
3. Super Strong Treatment
4. Lite Detangler
5. The Cream
6. Super Strong Daily Shampoo
*Not all of these everyday!
If you have any questions, just leave a message or e-mail me, I know how hard this is and I with I had joined earlier to get feedback.
kuwati April 9th, 2006, 08:07 PM LongBrunette, your hair is really beautiful, long & looks healthy. And I must concur with the rest of the gang here at LHC, you're a beautiful girl as well and could easily be a model, if you so desire.
I love that you delurked to post about reaching your goal. I guess I'm just a sucker for success stories.:silly: I actually set my goal within reach, sort of as a mini goal so that I can feel a sense of accomplishment and progress. If I start out with TB as my goal, it'll take so long I worry I'll get bored or discouraged.
As for my opinion and for what it's worth, your hair looks great right at the length you have it. I hope you do keep growing it, though, because you've got a great foundation to grow even further, TB or classic.
Yet another magnificent head of hair here at LHC...
LongBrunette April 9th, 2006, 09:42 PM Thank you very much! These comments are so nice and it helps so much with taking care of my hair
Sian100 April 10th, 2006, 02:07 AM How often did you trim your hair when you were growing it to keep it in good condition, Long Brunette?
Poolsoflaughter April 10th, 2006, 03:10 AM Congrats! :sun: I'm glad that you broke the silence, and finally posted, too. Everyone on here has been so nice and helpful to me since I started.
LongBrunette April 10th, 2006, 08:44 AM I preferred to do like a micro trim every three months, seemed to keep it more even and healthier
DEE_56652 April 10th, 2006, 09:26 AM way to go. congrats to you. it looks great. thank you for sharing.
Sian100 April 10th, 2006, 09:33 AM I preferred to do like a micro trim every three months, seemed to keep it more even and healthier
Thanks Long Brunette. I've been wondering how often I should trim mine in order to get to waist length in good condition. Previously, what has stopped me getting past BSL is that I get too much trimmed off, too often :silly: I've been growing my hair from shoulder length since 1999! (seriously!) :silly:
zule April 10th, 2006, 11:54 AM Lovely hair and lovely face, LB. Your hair looks so healthy. You've obviously worked hard at taking care of it. Thank you for coming out of lurkdom and sharing you goal/pix with us.
Lucia3k April 10th, 2006, 12:00 PM Just beautiful, and congratz on reaching WSL, that's my goal too.
LongBrunette April 10th, 2006, 01:57 PM I can't believe I never posted my Before LHC photo. The color is off though as the flash was on and it was into a mirror my hair is actually like the my avatar
Lady Godiva April 10th, 2006, 03:26 PM Which brings be to my second tip, DON'T BE AFRAID TO CUT YOUR HAIR!!!! Sometimes you need to if you want it to look healthy and not just long. There are some members here who never trim due to their personal philosophy against it, or because natural ends are their preferred aesthetic. Not everyone likes the blunt-cut, even-ends look. It comes down to nothing more than simple personal preference, as there are no rules. :twocents:
Then three, only buy products from the salon because if you buy it from a drugstore they water the product down to make it cheaper so that they can sell it for less.Actually, there are some members who don't use shampoo at all, who use just conditioner, and there are yet others who don't use anything except water. Can't beat the cost of eliminating products altogether. For myself, I use fairly inexpensive drugstore products (Nature's Gate), and I've had great success. 8)
I also only use Paul Mitchell products because 1, they work wonders for my hair and 2, it's easier to keep track of everything if they are all one brand (I don't think it has any effect on the hair though)Glad they work for your hair. They don't work for mine, as many of them have silicones in them, which are not suitable for my hair.
Stick around! There's a wealth of information here and the experiences from so many, and maybe your hair length goal will extend. That tends to happen here.
cichlid April 10th, 2006, 03:38 PM Actually, there are some members who don't use shampoo at all, who use just conditioner, and there are yet others who don't use anything except water. Ditto...I use just a cheap drugstore conditioner (expensive ones are too rich) and it's improved my hair. Course I CO so you sort of need to do this.
Anyway, LongBrunette...love your hair. Congrats on your goal! Looks more like hips to me. I think waist is around where your elbow is located, but your probably know where your hair is...it's just from teh picture it looks like hips. :)
