View Full Version : A "Then & Now" of my own!

Hey folks...I realized just the other day that it's been ten months since my "big" chop.

I don't have any pics from last June...I was literally so devastated that I couldn't take pics or really even look at my hair very much for a couple of months...but here is one from last September, along with my most recent one (also my siggy pic). So this is 7 months growth for me. DISCLAIMER: My hair always grows fast when I'm pregnant. So if you want to know the secret of great hair growth: Get pregnant. (Of course, as your hair grows, your wallet shrinks.)

Here they are:

I was really happy to see this because I feel like it hasn't grown at all. But it has. (Edited to make second pic smaller for a better comparison.)

you have really thick and healthy looking hair.how long was it when you chopped, and was there any particular reason for the chop?

Thanks so much, girls! Ohhhhhhh it feels really good to hear that!

RoyalHairess (GREAT username), my chop was last June. It was eight inches. For a long time, I had been maintaining my hair at about 24" while I grew out blonde hair coloring. That took me about three years. Finally I was down to the last few inches. For some crazy reason I thought long layers would make my hair look really great, but they came out awful on me. :( So I cut back to just a couple layers (I still have those, and that's fine...they're not really visible and they give my hair some "swing") and that took me eight inches down.

It was a terrible feeling. I'm glad now that all the artificial coloring is gone but it was rough at the time. I wouldn't want to have to chop like that again.

Oh my goodness GlennaGirl that's some major growth! You hair looks amazing. It's so full and thick. I love the little highlights the light put in there too. :rockerdud

You're kicking hairgrowing butt. I am in awe of your wonderful neat hemline. :bowtome: I'd have to trim myself to ear length to get such a lovely hemline.

By the way I got two Flexi-8's and you are very right, they are wonderful. :flowers:

Yay, I'm so glad you posted this! My hair is the exact same length as your's right now, but for some reason I still think of it as being about the length that your "before" picture is. There really is a huge difference!

pregancy for fast growth dose not seem like much of trade off. 18 yrs of pulling hair out.

That's really awesome Glenna Girl, especially to be able to look at those pictures and see how much your hair really has grown since September ^_^

Yay for you Glennagirl! Your hair looks so thick too. The coolest thing about being pregnant is not shedding....AT ALL! Have you noticed that too?

You've inspired me to post a pic from 7 months ago in my photo journal too :)

Great hair that is great growth you have there. Your colour and condition are looking great. It is hard when we do things in haste that we regret, but we live and learn don't we.

Your hair really has grown, Glenna! It looks so smooth! You had a pretty good wave going on in the first pic. Did you blow-dry it straight or is it naturally straight now?

And... pregnancy helps hair growth? Oooh... I think I'll pass..

Thanks. :)

My hair isn't very wavy...just a little bit...the first picture was bun waves (can you believe I got hair that short up into a bun???) and the second was after brushing.

I liked the comment about hair growing during pregnancy but then for the next 18 years you're pulling it all back out. Oh I fell on my can laughing at that one.

It's true that my shedding has slowed to a crawl for now. Been down this road before--postpartum, I will be finding hairs absolutely everywhere. But it all evens out in the end.

I had a big chop 6 months ago and since then have barely squeaked out 3 inches of growth. I was looking at supplements, but after seeing your 'tip'... (cue DBF looking afraid, very afraid...) ;)
