Well..right now my hair is about 20-21" long, an inch or so below my collarbone. Its layered, and its starting to drive me nuts, as one of my friends so kindly informed me I have " mushroom head" unless I constantly keep it messed up. My shortest layer is a little bit below my chin and my ends are starting to get a bit dry and tangly, so I think its about time I got a trim. Any advice on keeping it at this length while growing out the layers??

I would trim about 1/2 inch of the bottom every so often. Keep putting conditoner on it , use a mild shampoo, don't handle it too much (avoid blow drying, etc.) Eventually it will be all one length and in good condition.
