My best friend is going to prom with her boyfriend and she asked me to do her hair. Her hair is thin, around 1b-1c, fine, and a beautiful shade of red. It's a little below BSL and is all one length.
I want to do something with her hair that will look beautiful and elegant, but not clash with her hair color and look too extreme.
I'm not sure what to do. I'm really good at braiding and I can work really well with hair, so difficulty isn't really an issue. I don't know what to do and she's open to pretty much anything.

How about a crown braid?

Hey! Here is a web site that has TONS of braiding ideas with pictures. Maybe you and your friend will be interested in some of them? http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/braid_examples.htm Good Luck!

I second the crown braid - it's one of my favorite updos. That's how I had my hair done for my wedding, and I got a lot of compliments. It looked really good, it was unusual, and it emphasized the fact I have long hair. The Dreamweavers site is wonderful - it is where I got the instructions for the crown braid, and they were good enough to persuade the hair stylist to give the braid a try even though she hadn't ever done something like it.
