I am 35 turned 35 in May. I really dont feel any older than I did in High School in the 80's. Or when I got married 10 years ago. And really that does not seem that far away when I look back.

Time sure flies when you are having fun. I understand the time flies faster and faster as you get older. :(

26, and already starting to feel old (I'm older than the entire rest of my department at work, and older than some of the other people, too...also, those "Are you a child of the 80s" things....yarg!) Also, been divorced once, and been in love 3 times - all of which ended badly.

Well, can't go anywhere but up from here, right? Let's see what the next quarter century brings.....

Interesting thing I discovered about the last three generations of women in the family. My grandmother was born in 1926, my mother was born in 1956 and I was born in 1976! Isn't that cool? I had to go and screw it up though, my daughter was born in 1995 :? Maybe I'll have one in 2006? NOT! Maybe my daughter can start again in 2025 :)

Anyway...next year I´ll be 45. Yes I´ve learned how to reverse the ageing process! :D . (The secret is in Deepak Chopra´s book "Grow Younger, Live Longer).

I'm 37. Personality-wise it doesn't seem that different from, say, 27, but I find that I have ever so much more internal tranquility now. I was talking about this the other day with my younger by 8 years sis; it isn't that I have less energy to agitate about things, it's just that now I choose *what* I'm going to agitate about much more carefully.

Scarlett - Do you mean Happy Birthday yesterday to Scarlett and Ladybug is in order? If so, well then -

I'm suprised by the relatively young ages around here. I'm 26 but will be 27 in April. A lot of members on here are my same age! I work at a university where the average age is about 20 (I mean, I'm literally the old lady around the office), and my fiancee just turned 34, so I don't often get to socialize with many of my real biological peers! Yay another reason to love longhair!

I'm 23 but I DO want to say that I have every intention of having long hair 60+. Why don't more older women do it, I wonder? I think silver hair looks so beautiful long (I am getting there though, I recently plucked 3 bonafide silver (not gray) hairs from the top of my head). Long hair is youthful, graceful and timeless, no question about it. I particularly admire Demi Moore's long hair.

I am approaching a point in my life where I am at peace with myself. No longer do I feel I need to live up to a imagined standard unlike my past insecure teenage viewpoint. Things are definitely looking up.

Happy happy birthday, Nutswmn (hope I got the spelling right) :cake: ..........WOOPS! just realize this was posted almost a year ago. So, a very happy belated 30th, and a happier still premature 31st, a month to the day early.

And, definitely, LongRed, time positively flies. I have no idea how it happened that I'll be 50 in November. Oh well, may as well enjoy it...

46 here.

Sometimes I feel like I am behind in my life. I am doing things I should have done years ago.

I have been thinking about law school, but I would be over 50 on graduation.

My kids are young for a guy of my age. Our eldest is 10. I feel like their friends' parents are kids!

My wife is only 37. She wanted me to colour my hair, because I had so many white hairs and am older than her. I was skeptical, because of the length. Growing out dye with long hair is no joke.

Eventually I decided to use henna, which I used to do 20 years ago, and it has turned out quite well. I got good results with something labelled 'brown henna'. The grey looked like blond highlights, and has darkened since. There is also more red in it now than when I did it.

Alun -- I know just how you feel. I'm 3 years older and feel about 18 or so years behind in my life... just finished a grad degree 3 years ago, starting out in a new career, got married late, just bought my first house.... it's a weird feeling; some things i like about it; some i most definitely do not... have to keep reminding myself that i wasn't just comatose under a rock for those years, but doing other things....

I was 18 when my oldest was born. I'm not saying I endorse or encourage teen pregnancy but it's always nice to see others like me who are making it work. I'm not sure I worded that properly. I'm sure you'll understand what I mean, though! :flower:

22. I'll be 23 in August - not looking forward to it. 23 sounds so old for some reason. 22 still sounds like a young adult. I'll have to start acting mature and watch CNN (like I don't already - look, I've become old and boring before my time, sigh. )

I'm 27 and hubby is 29. Our daughter is 10  . Wow do they grow up fast!

We've been married 11 years in November and couldn't be happier. I also don't encourage teen motherhood but I think we've turned out OK!

I usually "forget" how old I am. Can you imagine how I'll be when I get older....not even 30 and can't remember my age!

Accolady

Whoops!

I didn't even realize I'd not taken the poll myself!

I turned 39 May 31st.

Funny thing is, I always thought I would be
officially 'old' at 37. I guess I must have cursed
myself, because things began to fall apart about that
time. LOL.

Some days I feel like I'm ancient with regard to
how I feel physically, other times I think I'm stronger
now than when I was 18. Perhaps all this work at home
is making me feel old. I need to take more breaks and
learn to relax!

This is really a fun poll! It's neat to see the makeup of
our members. Thank everyone who has participated!

It's interesting that there's such a mix of ages, also that many posts talk of feeling a different age from their actual age. It is believed that all of us have a 'natural age'. We spend some of our lives waiting to achieve it, a few brief months enjoying it in reality, and the rest of our lives struggling to remain there.
Me? I'm 49, but I always think I'm about 20.

I'm 27, and I didn't realize I'm now old enough for there to be a generation gap until some of my references to my school years started getting blank stares from the 16-18 year olds at work. I realized some of my favorite songs came out the year these girls had been born, eep. But it's okay, 'cause another co-worker told me that maturity is overrated and a birthday didn't mean I suddenly had to start "acting my age". Since she's older and wiser, I'll believe her.

I'm 47. It's funny; at one time that would have sounded soooo old, but once you get here, you're still you with all your memories and you feel like the same person except when you look in the mirror, you can see some changes. I saw my first gray hairs at the age of 25, but they are really kicking in now. For a long time, I had one white streak. With my hair being so thick, it didn't always show, but actually it was kind of neat. I colored my hair for awhile, but I am letting it go gray (for now), since coloring dries my hair out.

Honestly, I wouldn't go back to a younger age even if I could. There's a lot of value to what one learns along the way, IMO.

Hmmmm, there are 31 of us, at 46 to 50.

I am always surprised to realize I'm there. I've thought about it a lot this year. All my 'buddies', DH, our best friends, etc are older than I, by several years and I've been known to be pestiferous about their age. They say I have some reaping to do this next birthday. My answer to that is that they are so far past 50 that my turning 50 is no big deal. They still say I better watch out, they're going to be out to get me back! (I really do have it coming, but don't tell them I admitted it!!)

When it hits me though, is every time my oldest son has a birthday. And this last year, I said I thought a lot about it, my second son turned 30! My oldest turned 32! Whenever he has a birthday I think 'how can I be old enough to have a son that age? I'm only that age!!!' But I'm not. I only feel that age. I am rarely taken for my age if people look at me. If they look at my face, not the colour of my hair.

I'm all white around my face, so if they look at that and not me, they will see an older woman. Of course, my 'buddies' always remind me of that when I remind them how old they are!! We really do have a lot of fun with all that. The oldest of us is starting to catch up with me in that area though. His is evenly dispersed throughout his hair though, not like mine, almost all in front. They are all blondes, I'm a chestnut, so they wouldn't show it as well even if they had it!! I wouldn't trade it though, I love the silver and earned every one of them!!

Wow, I feel like the Lone Ranger at 55+. Oh well, in time everyone 50 and younger will reach my age bracket.

32 now, 33 in about a month and a half.

I keep having to think before I say how old I am, I keep wanting to say 26 or something - my mind just hasn't cought up yet.
I don't mind getting older so far at all though, I feel as if I'm finally growing into myself a little bit.

I can't wait to be a cranky old biddy, swigging gin and chewing cigars, surrounded by dozens of cats and a few dogs....
Actually, all that's missing is a cat or two and the cigar. ;)

I'm 15, but I'll be 16 in about a month and a half. Unfortunately there are those out there who think I still look 13. My mom claims it's the Swedish in me, and that I'll be thankful once I get older.

And cookiemonster... Yeah, me too. My mom still has lots of wrinkles though, so it might not be a good thing even then. :silly:
