View Full Version : Finally: Waist Length, and 1 Year Comparison Pics

Autumn
December 25th, 2005, 11:51 AM
Holiday greetings to everyone, and happy hair-growing in the new year!
I am very exited that I have finally reached my first goal of waist length :cloud9: and have set a new goal of tailbone length, which I will hopefully reach by Christmas 2006. Below are my hair pics from December 2004 and December 2005; my hair has grown 5.25 inches in that time, so I guess it grows slowly. I am very pleased with how it looks and feels, thanks LHC :flowers: for all the great tips! I also find everyone's progress pics quite inspiring.

You have such lovely hair, the kind of hair I've wanted all my life -- dark, straight, and shiny; everthing my hair is not. My husband looked over my shoulder and complimented your hair as well. Such a stunning growth rate: I hope my hair follows your example this year.

I too agree with everyone and would love to know your hair routine!? and if you trimmed it this past year or not ( 5 inches growth without trimming?)

And you know something, your hair shows its real beauty the longer it gets! - because you maintain softness , thickness and also increase length all the way.. :heartbeat

Thanks for all of the wonderful compliments! You guys really made my day!

As for my routine, its fairly simple (or maybe it just seems that way because I've been doing it for a while now, so it has become like second nature). I will give a general overview here and make a new entry in my journal on the things I have changed since my last entry.

I have not used shampoo regularly for over a year now, and not at all for the last months or so. I henna my hair about once a month, leaving the henna overnight. I CO my hair every 3-4 days or thereabouts with either a VO5 or Suave conditioner (my absolute favorite is Suave Milk and Honey, but I have lots of them and alternate between the two brands and dif scents). I CO by mixing about a third cup conditioner with about 3 tablespoons water and applying it to dry and detangled hair. When my hair is saturated with the conditioner, I twist it up gently in a loose bun at my nape and cover it with a shower cap and towel for a couple of hours. Then I rinse it out in the shower and let it dry naturally.

I don't do any heat styling or use any products on my hair other than the conditioner every few days. Oiling my hair in any way just seems to weigh it down. The only styling tools I use are a handmade sawcut comb and my hands. During the day, I mostly wear my hair up in hair sticks, hair combs or forks, or a large Ficcare. When I exercise, I braid my hair. At night, I leave it loose and place the length in the space between my pillow and headboard (per Dianyla's suggestion, I think in her photo journal).

I take the same vitamins as discribed in my journal (MSM, hair, skin and nails, biotin, flax oil, calcium...). I try to eat healthy (mostly fruits and veggies, lean meat and fish, whole grains) and jog/walk 3+ miles a day. Also try to get 8h a night. I try to keep my hair braided and under my jacket when its under 40 degrees outside, but sometimes that is impossible if I am running.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions if you have them.

Autumn
December 26th, 2005, 07:05 AM
Oh, I forgot to mention: I haven't trimmed my hair since October 2004 and I don't S&D.

I am speechless, your hair is stunning!!! I only wish!!! May I ask, do you shampoo at all and if so, what shampoo do you use? I'm going to have to try the CO method if it gets gorgeous hair like yours!!!

Autumn
December 27th, 2005, 01:47 PM
Hey tamgirl25- No, I do not use shampoo. I CO every 3-4 days with Suave or V05. I would highly reccommend COing, though it takes a while for your hair to get used to it. I started gradually, going from shampoo and conditioner every day (about a year and a half ago) to CWC, to CO every day, then every other day etc. I went through lots of days with greasy hair, but now it is much more managable. I don't plan to ever use shampoo again. I gave an overview of my routine on page 4 of this thread, if you are interested in more details.

Thank you everyone for the compliments! For those who asked- no I have never considered modeling my hair or doing ads. Honestly, I never thought my hair was that great. I originally joined this site out of discontent with my hair, wanting to make it look better, so I guess I am surrised people are so impressed by it.

I am very exited that I have finally reached my first goal of waist length :cloud9: and have set a new goal of tailbone length, which I will hopefully reach by Christmas 2006.
