View Full Version : I'm searching for great European products... Feye February 25th, 2003, 12:08 AM If you know of any good products that can be bought in Europe, then please post them below :) Feye February 25th, 2003, 12:09 AM I have one, and it's L'Erbolario Soya & Millet shampoo. It's the only shampoo that doesn't make my scalp itch in the long run. February 25th, 2003, 01:07 AM Are you talking about European products or products that can be bought here? European products: Dr.hauschka, Weleda, Urtekram Feye February 25th, 2003, 01:21 AM Are you talking about European products or products that can be bought here? European products: Dr.hauschka, Weleda, Urtekram Well, I thought that was the same thing. I'm looking for great products that can be bought here, simply. The three you mentioned, can they all be bought in health care stores? Thanks! February 25th, 2003, 01:46 AM Yes they can all be bought in Health stores... Products that can be bought here: John frieda, origins, Joico (mop, american crew etc at hairdressers), st.ives, Phyto...Thats is just the names I remember now. February 25th, 2003, 01:52 AM Paul mitchell (at hairdressers). There are silicones in his line though. (should be watersoluable and is not the first ingredients). He makes good leave-ins/conditioners. Feye February 25th, 2003, 01:54 AM Thanks, Katrine! That's exactly what I was looking for! More! He he :D KT February 25th, 2003, 04:23 AM I'm not sure how many of these can be bought all over Europe, but great products I've bought at home (in shops, not over the web) include: Lush L'anza Redken Aussie Avalon George Michael Trevor Sorbie Tigi Kerastase KMS Also some drug store brands have been quite good. L'oreal Elvive, Fructis, Organics and Herbal essences for example... Are you looking for anything in particular? Feye February 25th, 2003, 04:36 AM Thanks KT! I was mostly looking for non-cone products, but I'll look into everything that's recommended. I always read about AO, Avalon, Sara Care etc, and we can't get them here. So I need other alternatives, and I don't want to try every product on the shelf before I find a good one. February 25th, 2003, 05:23 AM We have very different hairtypes but I will give a brief review of the brands I have tried. Joico K-pac : A good protein conditioner. Smells like bubblegum. Dont remember if it has any cones though. Will not buy this product again. :Star: :Star: :Star: (3) Paul Mitchell 'the conditioner' and 'the cream' and some kind of deep treatment: Gave the cream away did not think it did any thing for my hair. But have heard a lot of people rate it. The conditioner is an okay leave-in. It gives lots of slip. The deep treatment was ok. Will not buy anything from this line again. :Star: :Star: :Star: (3) Weleda: A none cone natural line. Tried their Rosemary shampoo (SLS). An okay shampoo especially mixed with honey. Nothing to be impressed about. Would buy something from them again :Star: :Star: (2) Dr. Hauschka: An all natural earthly holistic line. Tried their apricot shampoo and their herbal conditioner. Very expensive and will work best if you use the entire line. Have not tried their conditioner long enough but it does contain alcohol. Their shampoo is very mild decylpolyglucose based. The smell is earthy. Good for the environment. Will probably not buy shampoo from them again but it is a very interesting line if you got the money! On and off I will buy something again :Star: :Star: :Star: :Star: St.ives: No cones! Very very very cheap. Good quality. Not five stars solely because of the environment (they are no worse than other brands though) :Star: :Star: :Star: :Star: Urtekram: A natural line. Their shampoos is like Weledas but cheaper. Nothing to get impressed with but nothing that ruin the hair either. The conditioners is environmentally safe and works ok. Use their conditioners and will buy again :Star: :Star: :Star: Havent tried phyto but knows it is available because I was searching after all the rave reviews. Feye February 25th, 2003, 07:49 AM Thanks! I appreciate the reviews! Now I have something to look for the next time I go hair care shopping Kati75 March 8th, 2003, 04:43 AM Lavera and Logona!!!! My favorites by far!!!! :D www.lavera.de www.logona.de Kati75 March 8th, 2003, 04:45 AM Forgot to explain: On the lavera-site, click on "Lavera im Ausland". Then you pick Denmark or whatever. On the logona-site, just click on "international". Have fun browsing! Madeleine March 8th, 2003, 05:16 AM Depending on your hair's needs you might want to try KMS - they have different lines of shampoo/deep treatment/leave in mist, plus a variety of speciality products. You can usually get samples in salons/shops that sell the products, so you can try before you buy. I occasionally use one of their deep treatments and like them a lot. Plus I like their philosophy - they use natural, biodegradable ingredients but manufacture their products with high tech methods. And they don't test on animals. A nice drugstore line is the Nivea Hair Care stuff. My mum's hairdresser once told her secretly that they have pretty much salon quality - nice scents, good results, and a little goes a long way. Their conditioner for colour treated hair has been my favourite for over a year now. I found the shampoo a tad bit too harsh for my sensitive scalp (but most shampoos are). I haven't tried their SLS/SLES free shampoo for sensitive scalp, because I started C/O washing and haven't been back to shampoo since. Kati75 March 8th, 2003, 05:25 AM I have tried Nivea and loved what they did to my hair, but my scalp thinks they are way too harsh. epiphanee March 8th, 2003, 05:43 AM Kerastase and Phytotherathrie. Both are French brands and are available throughout Europe. A little expensive but really excellent quality. Feye March 9th, 2003, 04:17 AM Wow! This has turned into a very helpful and interesting thread! Thank you everyone for your suggestions :) So happy to have your expertise here :) _banshee March 10th, 2003, 07:56 AM I agree, this is really an interesting thread. Thanks for starting it Feye! Kati, thanks for the links to Logona and Lavera. I haven't heard of their products before-are they available at drug stores? And are they expensive? (so many questions....) xxx_banshee _banshee March 10th, 2003, 08:01 AM Just answered one of my questions myself. I had a closer look at Lavera's website and found a list of shops - I'm guessing you'd get Logona products in similar kinds of shops. willowcandra March 28th, 2003, 12:33 AM i like the trevor sorbie long hair collection. it gives me that pantene look without the feel of plastic, but i do have to clarify with lush's antiphilitron every few washes. avon do a really nice leave in conditioner called quick touch. feels good but not a very good detangler.(does anyone know of a good european detangler?) i use lush's h'suan wen hua too. have given up on lushs okra conditioner. other cool shampoos are. boots botanical range and indra (both available at boots and both smell of coconut and indian incecse in the indra one) i also like aussie three minute miracle. i once tried head and shoulders it left my hair nice but like a clarifying shampoo its too alkaline same ph as alkaline perm lotion!!!! pantene and fructis and organics or wella vivality can work if you use it once for an amazing down do. also charles worthingtons dream hair is nice smelling not sure about the effects on my hair though. andshwartzkopf do a salon only collection called bonacure. that is great havent used it for a while. but of all i would pick. antiphilitron, trevor sorbie long hair and hsuan wen hua. hope this helps. Joliebaby September 7th, 2003, 12:12 PM I'm picking up on this old thread, mainly because I'm looking for a new line because they stopped importing Mastey Pure (the regular Mastey was never available) where I live. I really loved the Mastey! My hair is prone to dryishness, it's thick and wavy, my scalp has been itchy and flaky for weeks now, it's worse than it has been for years and I don't really know what's causing it. I'm secretly hoping of course that it's some sort of detoxification thing :D but more likely it's an imbalance caused by some unknown external or internal factor... I'm looking for something that is available in Europe (Northern) without ordering on-line. I was looking at René Furterer products, and they seemed really good in that they had different products for different scalp problems, not just for hair types. I didn't check out the ingredients yet. They are quite expensive, but I really need to do something about this scalp! I'm also looking into other lines that I may start using after I get this scalp thingy under control. Things that I have tried before and my comments: Clinique s/c -I liked these a lot (back when I used them at least). I used the daily shampoo and conditioner plus the moisturizing (lilac) conditioner. Main reason for not using these is price. Might buy tax-free. Urtekram -- too harsh, conditioner left a coated feeling. Yuck. Redken Extreme - These are really good, no cones yet slick feeling, but way expensive here! Only buy from US L'Erbolario -Using once or twice these were great, but in the long run not cleansing enough for my scalp. ?? Sunsilk -only tried the Aloe serum s/c so far, but these seem pretty good for a cheap-o brand! Might try others after scalp is healed. I've used plenty of other stuff of course but can't remember them or how I liked them.. Generally I think I might profit from CWC as my length is prone to dryishness but my scalp needs good cleansing, but at the moment I'm kind of clueless. Right now even the Mastey doesn't help my scalp. The last time my scalp was acting up like this I used Body Shop's Ginger shampoo and it helped! I loved the smell also. But they don't have that anymore. Anyway, if anyone has ideas for great European products suggestions are still welcome! Jollie Madeleine September 7th, 2003, 01:42 PM I still recommend trying Nivea if you can get it where you live. They have a shampoo for sensitive scalp that I haven't tried yet: Aqua, Sodium Myreth Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Sodium Benzoate, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Citric Acid, Trisodium EDTA, Niacinamide, Calcium Chloride, Benzophenone-4, Oryzanol, Polyquaternium-10, Parfum Their conditioners are awesome, my hair just drinks them. If you happen to like Nivea products you'll have a cheap solution, too. Twinkley December 30th, 2004, 08:05 AM This is a bit old topic but I think I still can tell some of my favourites if someone is going to Europe some day! I am just going to tell some products, I don't know do you have these, but I think it doesn't really matter if I tell few products that you already know... The Body Shop They have great bathproducts, in many differents scents. For example coconut, grape, melon and so on. They have also some very nice hairtreatments for example brazilian nut treatment for dry hair. Paul Mitchell Quite popular. Some products you should try: Awapuhi moisture mist -spray (works for every hairtype)and the detangler is also really good product. Shampoo three is good deep cleansing product. Don't like the line very much though. Matrix If you hair is flat, try this! Matrix Amplify shampoo and conditioner. This has been a rescue for many people with flat hair. It's really a great product and it does work! Other products are ok, but this one is great. Sebastian Sebastian is a great product-line with many different shampoos, conditioners and styling products. One favourite product is Potion 9 which is a leave-in product. It's really expensive and some ones love it and some ones really hate it. But those how love it, say that it has saved their hair. You can also buy a 50 ml bottle of it if you don't want to buy the whole expensive, big bottle. The whole line is quite good, but not exellent. Joico K-pak REALLY great line! Most of the products are good, some of them are just exellent. For example K-pak leave-in-protectant foam, which is very good leave-in. It has some proteins but it's also moisturising. K-Pak Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor is also a very good protein treatment. Sim Dermasyd Optimumrepair Energymask is a great treatment. It's really good for lightened hair and it contain very much proteins. Kerastase Products have exellent quality. Resistance - line is great for proteins. Don't forget to buy shampoo AND the conditioner from the same line... Sunsilk DON'T buy these...Horrible stuff. Full of cones, cheap (of course) and they ruin your hair.... Vampberry December 30th, 2004, 10:12 AM I like Garnier Respons Moisturising Plantmilk shampoo and conditioner. They're coneless and my hair is soft and shiny when I use the conditioner. The smell is a little strong though.. Then there are the finnish XZ products but I don't know if they're available where you live. They're coneless and work great for my hair. Plus the XZ buckthorn hair oil I got as a Christmas present is absolutely yummy :cloud9: Queenie December 30th, 2004, 10:23 AM I second Madeleine's recommendation for Nivea's conditioner for color treated hair - definitely the best. I did try their sensitive shampoo with Sodium Myreth Sulfate, and it was just as harsh - if not harsher  - than the other Nivea shampoos :no I did notice Avalon shampoos and conditioners are available in some health food stores around here, so I figure they could very well be available in Sweden by now as well. melisanda January 3rd, 2005, 04:34 AM I second Madeleine's recommendation for Nivea's conditioner for color treated hair - definitely the best. I did try their sensitive shampoo with Sodium Myreth Sulfate, and it was just as harsh - if not harsher  - than the other Nivea shampoos :no I tried Nivea shampoo for sensitive hair too and I also found it very harsh-but this is their volume shampoo so perhaps there is also something in it that roughens the cuticle so that the hair doesn't lie so smooth and looks bigger? I also recently bought Nivea conditioner for colored hair-used it only once but with great results. I have recently become intrigued by JF Lazartigue hair products-they are quite pricey so i'll buy them when i have more money to spend (I'm broke right now :silly: ) i'm also looking forward to trying more Phyto products (not cheap but nowehere near as expensive as in the US-I paid less than 10 $ for a shampoo that costs 20 $ at drugstore.com  ). The above mentioned shampoo- Phytopanama- didn't work well for me but the main cleansing agent is soap bark extract and i think synthetic, sulphate based shampoos work better for me so haven't given up on Phyto yet  kjara August 10th, 2005, 09:58 AM I tried Garnier (Ultra Beauty or Ultra doux, don't know how it's called throughout Europe) Peach tree leaves and Nut oil (this is a loose translation sorry) In German it's Glättende Intensiv-Kur Nussöl und Pfirsichblatt ,I think. Well,it's rather good. It doesn't contain cones. The conditioner in the same line does, but the deep treatment doesn't. It's for very dry and frizzy hair.My hair is quite straight but my ends are very dry and this product leaves my hair very soft :cloud9: it's very creamy and a little goes a long way. It's become one of favourites together with the Nivea Conditioner :rockerdud I paid 5 euros for 300ml . |
