I've lost all my files and photographs some of which were of Sooty who died in June.Is there any way these can be recovered

Oh I'm so sorry!!! I am not very computer savvy, but I have lost some pictures before and was able to recover them. Honestly I can't give you step-by-step instructions because I didn't really know what I was doing, just kept trying different things. If you know the exact name of a file type it in the search window and see if anything comes up.

Just because you don't see them in the recycle bin doesn't mean they're not on there somewhere! Don't give up and hopefully soon someone will chime in and give some helpful advice.

It is possible to recover files. I've had a couple of crashes I thought were a total loss http://www.zaftig-2000.com/smilies/ranting2.gif, but DH recovered about 85% both times. I would suggest taking your puter to a professional computer geek that does this sort of file recovery work. In the mean time do not turn it on, mess with it, or anything.

Well...you can light a candle and say a prayer over it. But you get my point.

Hey there, nastasska. My hubby is a professional geek type person and may be able to help you out. He recently recovered one of our drives - got everything back but all the files were missing the first letter of their name.:rolleyes:
Pain in the rear but everything was recovered.

I shall grab him as soon as he gets home (he's gone out doing computer geek type things) and see if he can point you in the right direction.

After I hit him over the head with the obligatory frypan, I shall ask him very nicely. I'll let you know tomorrow what he says. :grin: I'll try to make sure he doesn't just throw the names of a couple of programs at you - hopefully it will be a step-through sort of thing.
