View Full Version : GM Treatment Pics

Hello everyone! :D

As promised, here are my GM pics – curlers and all! Before viewing them, please bear in mind that the photo processing was pretty crappy and there are dust marks all over the place. I wish I’d had my digital with me! Anyway, the lighting in the salon was pretty rough too and my hair ranges from drab brown to brassy blonde. It’s actually somewhere in-between, I think. The “after” pic makes my ends look much thinner than they are, but something about the way Brent fanned it out and the roller set must’ve done that! :P The condition of my hair after the treatment was very smooth and silk-like and I’m on the final day of not washing my hair (have to wait 72 hours). Can’t wait for a good ‘poo tomorrow! My hair is only 26” currently, so these pics aren’t as spectacular as some of our lovely long-haired friends here. But, the purpose of this is to show step-by-step the process. Have fun and don’t laugh too hard at my rolled up head!

First, the pic descriptions:

1. Colorful Farlow’s Salon
2. My “before” pic. The color isn’t too accurate here, but the texture is pretty much so – you can see the “roughness” on the bottom 6” or so of permed hair.
3. Brent and me right before the first washing
4. Washing
5. My uncombed hair right after washing
6. Brent putting the conditioning treatment on my hair. He took strands like this and kept going until all my hair was saturated. When I asked him what was in the blue goop, he said (in so many words) that it was a secret recipe. Hmmmm….
7. My totally gooped up head
8. Once all the conditioning treatment is on, he puts cotton around the top of the forehead and then puts waxed paper all the head. Nice, look, no?
9. On top of the waxed paper, he puts a lovely blue “cap” on.
10. THEN comes the infamous pink bonnet.
11. I had to add the profile of this stunning look
12. After another washing (no pic here), Brent proceeds to roll my hair.
13. The finished rolling job from back
14. From front
15. This net shot is especially for Valerie! :P
16. Once my head is all trussed up, I go under the dryer for an HOUR
17. You can’t see it very well in the overexposted and out of focus shot, but Brent is giving me a dusting on the length of my hair by taking strands of hair, twisting it and cutting all the little split ends that are there.
18. Trimming the ends
19. More trimming the ends
20. The “after” pic
21. After profile and front
22. A final fun shot

Now go take a look and just hit “next” above the pics on each page to go to the next shot: http://groups.msn.com/AprilAtchison/gmtreatment.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=73

Have fun! and I hope this works!

It worked, it worked! Those pix are so cool, Avri! Our hair type is so similar; I noticed how the roller pix made it look like you had just lots and lots of hair, isn't that neat? And the pink cap? To DIE for! What an accessory. :D
It looked just like silk when he was done. The color of gold spun silk. It looked like your hair had more body than curl at the end of the procedure. Do you think that is just common for our 1a-b F ii type?
You skinny mini, you are just gorgeous. By the way, when do you turn thirty again? :D Hot mama!

Oh! Those turned out GREAT! I could see them all very clearly too. the salon looks lovely also. And your hair turned out perfect- thanks for the net picture. LOL. I remember it all too well. During my GM visit- Catherine gave me a gold heatcap. You had a pilgrim look to you with that pink heatcap and towel around your shoulders. :P

You look SO pretty in all those shots too! Who was taking the pictures?

Avrilon! I'm still going through the photos, but I just hafta say I've never seen anyone look so elegant while laying back in a shampoo bowl. Dang girl, you look like a Chanel model! ok, let me finish looking at the photos...

Those are *awesome*! Thanks for posting them. I loved being able to see the whole process, step by step.

Your hair looks fantabulous afterwards, too.

Cheers,

Avi, your hair turned out FABULOUS!! You've got a little flip and even a swoop (YES, a real, live swoop!!). I had so much fun looking at your pics -- it almost felt like we were right there with you. And, I agree with Dulci -- you look like a Chanel model (Catherine Denueve?) leaning back into the shampoo bowl. I don't know anyone else who could look so elegant -- even with that "lovely" pink bonnet on your head!! :P Thanks for sharing this with us!!!!! :D

Thanks, guys! :D

Valerie: The gold heatcaps are for long hair like yours. The pink ones are for us shorter-haired ladies. At Farlow’s Salon they now have a muscular therapist and aromatherapist working there. Her name is Sue and she shot the pics. She gave me a hand massage while I sat there! It was wonderful! :)

GoldLady: Yes, our hair texture is very similar, I think. I asked Brent to roll my hair so that it would be as straight as it usually is in its natural state, so it didn’t get much curl. It also brought up the length a bit since it made it a bit poofy around the scalp area. I know it’s good for the hair shaft, but I really don’t like the way it looks rolled.

Dulci: LOL! I look so good in that shot because my jowls are hanging away from my face! Hahahaha~ :D

I'm still looking in an alternate window,
but while they load let me say I am so envious
of your treatment!

How could anyone know that wax paper, goop
and heat would make a girl so very beautiful?

The blue cap was cute! The pink cap even cuter!
Nice big rollers (I'm that far so far)

I gotta go look some more!

Avrilon!!! that was wonderful!!!

You're so pretty and even though your hair was already pretty to begin with, there was quite a difference afterwards!!

I BET you're ready to wash! LOL! I'm a frequent washer myself so I know what you must have been going through and now that you're on your last wash day..well the last day is prolly the worst.

Does the treatment hold up as far as looks up til the last day? Does the gentle curl stay?

Anyway, wonderful pics! I really enjoyed them!

to share those with us!! I was going to say the same thing Dulci said, but happened to catch her post on the way down here lol I swear I never seen anyone that pretty even with a dag gone plastic cap on!!
You have the prettiest profile.

Your hair looks very similiar to mine except that I have mine colored a bit darker now . The treatment really made it look soft and shiny.
Thanks again for sharing your experience with us! That last pic is really cute!

A loud and hearty "AMEN" to what everyone has already said.

Thanks so much for going to the trouble of taking the pictures, posting them and 'splaining them. I felt like I was right along with you.

The more my hubby sees about the GM treatments, the better. :D It might convince him that I 'need' a GM treatment. Maybe when we go to VA in May, it might work out for me to go to a GM salon. I would love to make a day of it with my sister.

Thanks again,
Maggie

You are one beautiful lady Avrilon! Although Brent had a great head of hair to begin with, the after pics are amazing! 8) Such shine and silkiness! A magazine should get ahold of you and use those pics for an article!

Lovely, just lovely!!!! And I particularly like the pink bonnet, and the side-view was icing on the cake!!! Of course it only makes ME jealous and want to get a nice treatment myself, but...... I have learned to deal with the jealousy!

Very nice! (from your "cousin")

Your hair turned out beautiful! It was great to start with, so the results could only be great! I think it would be great fun to have that done. He'd end up spending a lot of time on my dusting! javascript:emoticon(':D')
Laughing I hope you enjoyed your time there. It looked like you did.

Thanks so much for sharing that!

I felt like I was right there with you. And about your ends and the fanning out of the hair, I also had the same thing happen to me, my ends looked thinner in the pic than irl, but trust me, that does not take anything away from your gorgeous hair!

Enjoy the resutls of your treatment.

Ya know, I still have trouble believing your real age when I see pics of you :D I showed DH a pic and he simply refused to believe me when I told him your age. He says I must have read something wrong :P

I think everyone has pretty much said it all about your hair, so I'm going to say WOW at your makeup instead :D

I never wear makeup, and now I know why! It would look such a mess next to pros like you, it's just perfect. I thought all those perfect pics in mags were air-brushed, but it seems you look that good anyway 8)
