Has anyone tried Aveda's Sap Moss shampoo and/or conditioner? It is supposed to be very good with dry hair.

View Full Version : Aveda Sap Moss? bikerbraid February 24th, 2003, 08:01 AM Has anyone tried Aveda's Sap Moss shampoo and/or conditioner? It is supposed to be very good with dry hair. lala February 24th, 2003, 08:10 AM I used it a while back and it was a really great shampoo. It was the only one at the time that left my hair untangled and manageble. However I stopped buying it because of price, and the smell. I can not tolerate the smell of the sap moss line. However, if the scent is not an issue for you, I'd highly recommend it. The sap moss conditioner is very light; so instead I used a heavier conditioner with it (Cherry Almond bark) and I had great results. Aveda usually sells travel sizes of their products, so you can try them before shelling out all that $$$ HTH Jonobie February 24th, 2003, 08:23 AM Has anyone tried Aveda's Sap Moss shampoo and/or conditioner? It is supposed to be very good with dry hair. I've used the conditioner, but not the shampoo. It was okay, but was somewhat expensive and contributed to a lot of buildup on my hair. If you don't like silcones, I'd avoid it -- it's got a cone as the second ingredient. For a while, I was using it, Aveda's smoothing serum (can't remember the name right now), and Rusk's leave-in and the cones in all of those caused my hair to look a shade or two darker than its natural color. Kinda icky, and so I stopped using all of them. Some people don't like the smell -- I thought it was nice and earthy, myself. IIRC, it doesn't provide a huge amount of slip, although it detangles well enough. Basically, for me, it was okay, but not worth the price, and I've since stopped using it because of the 'cone buildup problem. Cheers, Jonobie chamogirl February 25th, 2003, 06:01 AM I didn't like this line either. I didn't like the smell and the results weren't worth the price Carolyn February 25th, 2003, 09:26 AM I tried it some months ago. I rate it as a sortalikedit. I did like the smell. Woodsy and earthy. Smell it before you buy it, not everyone likes the scent. Try the travel size before you buy it in the regular size. It is pricey but I just love going in those Aveda places. Sometimes they give you a hand massage and they have great hand cream. I thought the Sap Moss worked pretty good. It didn't weigh my hair down and I felt it was moisturizing on my dry ends. Dispatcherbert February 25th, 2003, 11:39 PM I've used both and really liked them. Depending on what type of hair you have, though, it may be too "heavy". It's definitely not a product that I could use all the time. I really like it, however, on my quarterly visit to the salon when my hairdresser uses it on me. I'm in the minority and don't mind the smell (although it did take a bit of getting used to). Stephanie February 28th, 2003, 11:54 AM Love the line. :) Actually, it's in the shower right now. Unfortunately, it's been set aside due to my current obsession with Mastey and Kiehl's. Anyway, I love the smell, the look, the texture...everything about it. It's awesome. Very moisturizing, too. And that's coming from a chicky with hair that won't stop absorbing moisture! LOL My hair screams for moisture and this stuff leave my hair flyaway free and slick. :) Off to sniff the shampoo now... LOL! Axium March 9th, 2003, 01:13 PM Here's a weird question for sap moss users... I travel a lot on business and recently roomed with a longhair who used this stuff. Well...When I got home, I had some brown splash stains on some of my things that had been in the bathroom. I thought and thought and the only thing I came up with is perhaps some of the sap moss got on them and stained them. Any thoughts? I'd really like to know.... Sana April 10th, 2003, 11:08 AM I bought Aveda Sap Moss deep conditioner, which is abt 19$ :( But it did not make any difference to my hair, on the contrary, my hair became more dry :x I think those stuff are not worth the price  LongRed April 18th, 2003, 02:10 AM Strangely enough, it didn't do anything for my hair. I have rather dry, coarse hair and for some unknown reason, it didn't have the moisturizing effects that I thought it had. Also, I agree, I could not get over that yucky smell! I felt like I spent the week in a rain forest on a Survivor episode! Man, that stuff stinks (unless they've reformulated it!!!) nastasska May 30th, 2003, 07:24 PM I am using these products currently and I really love them they are expensive but I think they are worth it I don't think they have a very strong smell just a pleasant scent ;) :D :D Sunsailing May 31st, 2003, 11:22 AM I bought and used the conditioner about a year ago. It did nothing for me. It did not help detangle, plus my hair smelled like I had washed it in a puddle of water that had been sitting for some time in the moist soil of a dense tropical rain forrest. chamogirl May 31st, 2003, 01:47 PM I didn't like this line at all Violeta May 31st, 2003, 06:46 PM IMO, this line it’s wayyy to expensive. |
