View Full Version : Ear Piercing Question

I've had my ears pierced 3 times - all three times in the standard place, in the lobes, just in slightly different positions.

The last time the holes grew over, I was surprised. I hadn't left my earrings out for too long (I never used studs).

Is it possible to get the most recent holes re-opened? I don't think I would want it done with the gun (not accurate enough). I am so out of the loop here, but I'm sure that I've read that there's another way to go...could it be done at a body art place??

As you might be able to tell, I'm kind of wishing I could wear all those new dangly earrings.

Herm. I had the same thing happen. I know this probably isn't recommended, but I re-pierced my own holes after they closed, by forcing an earring through the hole. It made a strange popping noise, and hurt like the dickens for the rest of the evening that I did it. Ouch. Not really the best method, I guess. Probably risked an infection by doing that, but I slathered it with triple anti-biotic cream.

From what I've heard, repeat customers tend to avoid the gun and go to someone who pierces with a needle. :flower:

Are they commpletely closed? I dont wear earrings very much anymore and sometimes It seems they are closed but I can push a earring through kinda like what vanillatresses said I would just rub the earring in alcohol and rub your ear lobe with alcohol and try and push one through. It may just be a small section closed . If it dosent go you may have to get it redone I have heard of people having to do that.

Ow Ow OW!

I fixed my problem. I just pushed the earrings through and that did it. I promptly took the earrings back out again, gave everything a dose of rubbing alcohol, and put the 'rings back in.

Other than the sensation that my ears are burning off, things are good! I think I just needed a little support, to get my courage up. I was sure it would hurt more than it did.

Thanks, everyone. I wasn't sure it could be done at home, but you saved the day! :flower:

My method for solving that problem involves thumbtacks and aloe vera. I don't really recommend it. ;) Glad you got it solved, Elfboots!

For future reference getting something repierced hurts a fair bit (that's an understatement to avoid using the rude words that would accurately discribe the pain!). I had my nose done five times in the same place each time and it hurt. A lot. I don't know it it was because he was basically piercing scar tissue or what, all I know it that I was glad when it eventually took (my nose obviously admitted defeat and stopped getting infected!).

I'm glad you've managed to re-do it yourself; you're braver than I am!

Well done for remedying the situation yourself! Hope your ear's not sore for too long.
