I've noticed these pretty-coloured little round "spots" next to people's names in the post headers.
I've also noticed that they come in at least 2 colours, gray and green. This might sound like a stupid question, but why are they different colours?

Are some people just allocated different colours to others, and if so why?
Or is it just a repeating pattern, which changes from thread to thread - I've noticed one thread has a "gray, gray, green" pattern.

ETA - although I've noticed whenever I post, the spot always seems to be green!

Green means the person is online right now, and red means that they are offline (or hidden). I'm not sure what gray means.

(Der, of course my own would always be green if it means the poster is online lol)
