HELP!!! I just down loaded the Freepichosting software. I am totally screwed up. It said something about video and I clicked YES. Well that was a mistake. Now I have this little screen with black space all around. I can't get that to go away. I deleted the software and I still have this little screen. What did I do and more importantly what can I do to fix it? I can't even find the post now that mentioned the software. I am such a computer moron, lol. Can someone help?

Yeah what the heck? I tried deleting the software and restarting but that didn't help. Maybe one of the computer people can help us out.

on no! :no

I downloaded it too, but I've only played around with it a little bit, I've only got two pix on it. It works ok for me.

I don't remember seeing anything about video, wish I could help! I do know that I can't login to it without turning off my firewall and virus scanner.

There was a place in the download where you chose YES or NO and it said something about video. I'm afraid to go back there and see just what it was. I don't want to download the program again . I just want to updo what I did.

something about pixels, I remember answering "yes" because it said it wouldn't harm my system in any way. Ha!

Is there another alternative to this software? I don't want to go back and download it again.

:?

I deleted the program from my computer and downloaded it again and it recognized me. The login box was already filled in, so I clicked login and was back in my album.

Hmmm. Let me try deleting the program AND my album.

Dang! It still recognized me. I guess I didn't remove all of it :?:

The tutorial isn't much help either. I still don't see video anywhere.

ok, now I feel bad

Hi,
I don't have the software, but I wanted to check one thing with you guys. When you say that you "deleted" the software, did you do it from Add/Remove Programs? That should remove it completely from your computer. Please forgive me if I'm repeating something you already know, but you can access this from either the task bar or My Computer. Click on Settings, then Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. Highlight the program to be removed. I had a pop-up killer that completely messed up how my computer performed(eBay didn't work...GASP! ) so I removed it this way.

HTH!

Dulci, don't feel bad! It's not as if you knew this was going to happen ;) It's okay, no worries :D this could happen to any one of us.

I'm just hoping Steph can find something we can use in the mean time or fix this site so we can upoad our pics to it somehow like at Net54.

Don't worry Dulci ((((((hug))))) I was just mad at the software!

I think the places Jonobie posted is working fine.

I chose imgstudio but they will close down 31/3.The reason I did not choose the site you are all talking about was because of the downloading. I was afraid that it would use my comp. like mpg programs sometimes do (uploading). And I cant let that happen to this comp. As said before Im paranoid   so Im pretty sure it doesn't do that at all.

To make sure you have removed everything just do a search on your comp.

Carolyn, the same thing happened to me when I tried the soft ware.

If you have Windows 98, you can "right" click on your background, scroll down to "properties" and a window will open that says, Display Properties.
Clik on the tab that says Settings, and then where it says Screen Area, you can change the pixels settings until your desk top looks like it used to. I have mine set at 1024 by 768. You may want yours set differently, but this may help.

I unintalled the program, too!!

Hope this made sense!

I had this problem, too!! ARRGGHH!!! Luckily, I was able to get the settings back the way they were, but it's been VERY frustrating. However, I cannot figure out how to remove this with the add/delete programs thing, because FreePicHosting doesn't show up there as a program!! If I do a search and delete, I won't necessarily be removing the everything associated with it, will I?? I want to get this off my system, too, but I can't figure out how to do it. Can anyone HELP??!!

Carolyn, how did you remove the software? I can't find it in the "add/delete programs" list in my Control Panel. I'm afraid that deleting it manually won't remove all the little bits associated with it.

Hi Pixna, I followed Flaxen's instructions. I clicked START, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL, that opened up a window with a lot of icons. I clicked on the ADD/DELETE PROGRAMS icon. That opened up a gray folder with tabs at the top. I clicked on the Install/Uninstall tab, then high lighted the program and then clicked the Add/Remove button. I still have an icon on my desktop that I can't get rid of.

That's exactly what I did, Carolyn, but the FreePicHosting program isn't showing up in the list of programs under the INSTALL/UNINSTALL tab. Was it listed as FreePicHosting on your system or as something else? I'd like to remove it correctly, but if it isn't showing up, I don't know what to do!!

I remember you had to pick a place to download the program. I think I picked Drive C. Maybe you downloaded it somewhere else? I don't know if that would make a difference or not. Is your computer working OK otherwise? I got my bigger screen back and every thing else seems to be ok

Yeah, I downloaded to Drive C, and I can find it, but it just isn't showing up in the INSTALL/UNINSTALL program list. Luckily, a friend helped me get the size of everything on my system back to normal, and I THINK (i.e., hope and pray) everything else is running okay, too. I think I learned a tough lesson with this one!

Pixna, if it's still on your computer, but not registering in the "Add/Remove Programs" section, you might have deleted a main component of it, but not the whole thing.

What exactly did you do to try to remove the program? Did you do a search and delete things that way? If you did, you didn't get all of the components removed. You should install the program again exactly like you did before. When (IF) it says, "over write" or "rewrite existing file" during the installation, just click "yes." Then, after it's been completely installed again, you should be able to remove it completely using the "Add/Remove Programs" feature.

Sometimes (usually) these programs come with an uninstaller. If you've deleted the main program file (.exe) and/or the uninstaller (sometimes both in the same file), it won't be able to delete all of the programs files (or register in the "Add/Remove Programs").

Does that help at all? Let me know what's going on and I'll try to help.
