Can someone (preferably a moderator) please let me know what the rules are for locking a thread?

I'm asking this because I noticed that some threads with last posts in May 2005 were locked, but other threads with last posts in Feb 2005 are not locked.

I know it has to do with how far back the last post was (how many months is that?), but does it also have to do with the number of posts to the thread?

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I've been wondering for a while.

I'm not a mod but the locking happens after one month of inactivity to threads on certain sections of the board. For example (I think) threads on the friendship board are locked after one month of inactivty while they are not on product reviews and journals.

ETA: I'm wrong about the specifics, maybe it was more than one month, but I cant seem to find a board with locked threads right now.

Oh well maybe a more knowledgable person will come along with specifics. :flowers:

Unless things have changed and I missed it (which is entirely possible :silly:), threads are closed after 30 days of inactivity on these boards only:

Mane Board
Friendship Board
Swap Meet & Group Order
Introductions

Thanks Butters and DBF! I thought it was all threads in all boards that were subject to the same timeframe for locking, so that explains why it looked like some were getting locked and others weren't -- I didn't notice which boards I was in at the time.
