hi,

i have 2 questions

1. how do i post links...both within the site or to other sites?

2. to start a journal i assume i click 'start new thread'...but how do i then find it again if there are alot of subsequent posts and the page disappears?

thank you

1. There are two options, you either just write the link in the post. A link to this thread: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=25962
I just wrote the adress.

If you want to call the link something you write [ URL = the adress ] the name of the link [ / URL ] but without spaces. For example
[ URL = http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=25962 ] this thread [ /URL ] without spaces becomes:
this thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=25962)

2. How to find your journal? You don't ;)
You can subscribe to threads, by clicking in the "thread option" at the top of a thread. If you subscribe to a thread you can see it if you click on either User CP and "subscripted threads" or by clicking at "Quick links" at the top menu and "subscribed threads". If you put a link to your journal in your signature you can always go to it from there too.
Worst case scenario you can click on your own username and choose "Show all threads started by..." and find it there.

HTH!

I do this differently than Zequana. Neither is right or wrong. Just different preferenes.

I copy and paste the URL into my messages.

If I want the URL to have a clickable name and not show the url, then I make sure I have hit "reply" or "go advanced" for posting. This way I get that window with all the bells and whistles (font size, type, color, smilies, etc) Like this (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=409622) . Under the drop down box for choice of "color" there are several "buttons" Click on the one that has the world and what looks like 2 links of a chain.

When you get the dialogue box, type the word(s) you want in blue underlined (like how I used "like this"), hit ok. Then copy/paste the URL into the next diaglogue box. Click ok. The hyper link (is that what it is called) is placed into your message.

As far as finding your journal later you can do several things. You could put a hyper link (see directions in previous paragraph) into your signature, then you'd just have to find one of your posts to go to your journal.

OR, you could open the Advanced Search window (click Search, then click under the little pop up box for Advanced).

Type your name in the Search by User Name box. Change the drop down box to Threads Started By. Then, In the bottom right, click on Hair Journals. It will pull up your journal that way.

Since I rarely post in my journal, that's how I find mine.

Hope that helps.
