I have some sunscreen we used on
the boat last year that is still in there
ready to go. Is it still good?

Yes, most sunscreens have an expiry date. If it doesn't and you've had it a year, I'd toss it.

I think I've heard that after a year, get a new bottle. It loses it's strength, and won't protect after a year. Not sure if that's true, or just a gimic to get us to buy more, but better safe than sorry!

Yes it does. Something helpful, if you can't find or see the expiration date because of rub off, you can call the company (number is usally on packaging) and they can tell you the date by code.

Most last longer than a year though.

Big YES , I did not look at the exp. Date when I got one and when I put it on my face I was surprise how bad the skin reacted immediately so be careful and do not use anything that u see that it’s expired or u had in your house for more then 1 year. ;)

Another Key and very important thing to remember is stay out of direct sunlight for at least 20 minutes after you apply the sunblock or it will act like a tanning oil and cook you like butter does to a turkey. :)

Nothing erks me more, when I see a mother/father slather up the kids right there on the beach and then let the kids run around uncovered or go directly into the water. Then see the kid later in the day as a lobster and the mom and dad wondering what happened.

I have really fair skin, and I'm here to tell you, YES! I've been screwed by expired sunscreen on two occasions, one was this last weekend!. I will now only rely on myself to supply the sunscreen, seeing as how both times i got burned(literally)lol by using expired sunscreen from a friend when I forgot mine!
