View Full Version : Anyone know how to make snoods?

I want to make some beautiful snoods and I've just discovered some lovely ones that can tie in the back. Basically, the cording is all the way around the crown and hang loose at the nape, so it can be used to tie up the snood like so:

The cording won't be too much of a problem, but how do I shape the fabric so that it will fit my head and not fall off? Does anyone have a pattern for snood-making?

Can't say I have ever made a snood before but I would guess that there is probably some reasonable amount of fullness under the 'ponytail' part, this is probably taken up through gathers, pleats or maybe even darts.
Have you tried searching around on the net for snood patterns?

Well after doing a bit of searching I found these patterns: http://proudmommy.tripod.com/snood.html

There not exactly what you pictured but hopefully they will give you some sort of an idea of how to go about making one. :)
Good Luck!

Oh, fabulous!! No, I didn't even *think* that there would be patterns online somewhere. I figured I'd just have to try to buy a pattern. This is wonderful! Thanks so much!

I don't have any snoods but I do think about getting one. I would really like one like Madeline has, with the beads.
