View Full Version : A newbie
Speedqueen May 5th, 2003, 03:31 PM Salutations...... New to the forum. I sort of stumbled on to the site. I " Lurked" around today from work and registered. I decided to seriously grow my hair about a year ago. 30 1/2 inches Its between my bra strap and my waist, dark blond/light brown and pretty straight and a medium thickness ponytail. I had been olive oiling for a few months and just recently tried almond oil. Ordered Monoi today online. I'm soooooo excited. :D I had been debateing purchasing for a while but I'm from Canada and with the exchange rate and all...
I really like Bed Head dumb blond conditioner but I can't afford it anymore :( ....I've moved to Citre shine conditioner. I still use the Bed Head shampoo because I use wayyyyy less of it than conditioner. I have hard well water and use baking soda and shampoo once and a while.
I'm looking to go to classic length, but I'll go longer if it will.
I've read some great suggestions and I'm definatly going to try the vinegar rinse. (Does it not make your hair dry). I love it when my hair is shiny shiny. Well gotta put the kids to bed and make school lunches. BBL.

PurpleCow May 5th, 2003, 03:40 PM Hi Speedqueen! I'm a bit of a newbie myself although I do remember quite a few of you from the old Longhair Lovers site. I've been growing out my hair since March of 2001 but have to admit that I've been neglecting it the past few months due to personal problems. I stumbled across this site a few days ago and just got registered for it. I feel like I once again have the time and focus to re-dedicate myself to growing my hair long and healthy.
Athelyna May 5th, 2003, 03:48 PM I'm basically a half-lurker, but I can still welcome you :D

Sheba May 7th, 2003, 10:43 AM Hi Speedqueen... 'nother Canuck here (in Toronto.... please don't hate me ;) ) and good luck to the Senators!
I'm a big sweet almond oil user - I just love the stuff. It's great on your skin and nails as well. I also debated vinegar rinses for a long time as I couldn't get over the idea that they would dry my hair, but it's been the exact opposite. I've been using them for about a year now and the shine and condition of my hair are excellent. If you've been lurking for a bit I'm sure you know some of us steep herbs in the vinegar for an added bonus of "good stuff" .... if you'd like any recipes you can do a "search" or we can post them for you. I always add essential oils to my rinse and you can also add a few drops of SAO or other oil, or even vegetable glycerine to detangle.
HTH and welcome! Sheba :D
